There is no denying that the way forward for when it comes to brand recognition is social interaction, and Manchester City FC is the first of the Premier League Club teams to realize this, as they have just signed a new deal to go interactive with YouTube. This new content deal sees City having full control of their club-created video or other rights-owned content.

The icing on the cake with this deal is how the football (soccer for American’s) club is able to also manage the advertising on the content shown on YouTube. We find it hard to believe that City is the first to do such a thing, but we cannot see it being too long before others will follow – maybe rivals Manchester United will be next?

Officials for Man City have said that the club has had a fantastic year of growth, and this is just the next step for increasing growth and giving the fans more. Well, those fans already get some great content, but now they will soon have to put up with advertising on the videos that get shown on YouTube – which is not a huge problem.

The Drum has learned that this is the first step in a long line of deals that will take the football club onto another level when it comes to their online activities. What makes this deal even more special, is the way that it will allow the team to grow globally, as YouTube will give them a much greater reach. We would expect their fan base to grow at an alarming rate – something that other Premier League Club teams will not want to miss out on.

Keep up-to-date with all things Manchester City with their official iPhone app.

Facebook is not in the business of standing still, which is why they have brought in an array of new features that will help keep users happy. However, it is always inevitable that they will not be able to keep everyone happy, and the controversy over no dislike button for apps is one that has angered not only users, but app developers as well.

It does seem strange how you are able to like something, but not dislike, its like Facebook is afraid that people might upset someone – which is what a huge percentage of their users use the service for. Before we get into the finer details, maybe this decision is because FB is trying to change how it is perceived, but then isn’t that taking away what the service what set up for in the first place?

The new features was introduced during F8, and it was then that we were told by Mark Zuckerberg that users will now be able to express themselves, and were giving developers more powers to do so. What is confusing about this is the moment that they try to add ‘Dislike’ into a field while creating an app they get a message saying that the name is a blocked word.

Banning words is used by many websites and blogs, as this is to stop foul and hurtful words, but we would not consider dislike a hateful word. What The Huffington Post finds confusing is the fact that developers can use words such as hate, loath, reject etc.

Facebook has yet to say why they do not allow a dislike button, but many users are complaining that this is a “violation of the freedom of speech
Amendment to the Constitution.”

The recent charging rumor that suggest that Faecbook will begin to charge for its service is not dying, and as you would imagine, has been getting a huge amount of response over the past few days. We already discussed yesterday that this was untrue, but still gossip is doing the rounds. You can understand why users of the social network are confused over the situation, because it started as one of those convincing hoaxes that many of us have bought into in the past.

Rumors of Facebook charging a membership fee has done the rounds before, and no doubt we will see more, but those in the know have strongly denied that this will be happening – well not for now anyway – which you can read for yourself on their product/service Facebook profile page. Having said that, they do claim that they will never charge, and looking at how they generate revenue, there could be truth to the claim.

Let’s say for one moment that Facebook did start charging for the service, then the amount of income that could be generated from the more than 800 million users would be shocking. However, if this was the case, then a huge percentage of those users could jump ship and move over to Google+. Speaking of that new social media service, they have now made the service public and we can expect them to now ramp up the promotion.

Facebook is not only used by the general public, but also businesses as well, and is considered one of the most important ways to get your brands name out there. Facebook relies on this, as it also gets their name out there, consider the fact that people will be on Coca-Cola’s wall, which is a win win for both companies. However, creating this wall is often a huge challenge, but there are a few tips on how to create the perfect one.

Once again, do not buy into the rumors of Facebook charging, it’s not going to happen.

When Google+ was first launched, Facebook users thought that the social network would come out with all guns blazing. The reason why was because Google’s latest project had a range of new features that is needed for the success of social networking. Facebook has now delivered something that could be key factor in this new fight, and that is to target businesses.

Google is unable to offer their new Plus service to business users yet, as they have advised them not to sign-up until later this year when they will come up with Google+ for Business. Going back to what we were saying above, the most popular social network service has unveiled Facebook for Business, but it is not what you might think. Users were confused that there was another new feature added, but it is just a small portal.

If you are a business and have been unable to get the best from Facebook, then there are a number of ways in which you can capitalize on your social presence. We have to stress that this is more for small businesses, and will allow you to search for new customers before they start to search for Facebook ads. This is a five-page guide, and even though not a new feature, it is still a valuable tool to aid in your success.

There are those out there who thinks that they know all they need to in this area, but there are some key facts that you could be missing, if not implemented right you could be missing out on an opportunity. One of the best things about Facebook for Business is how it is quick and easy to digest. More often than not when you delve into how to make a success for your company online it becomes a little daunting of what you need to learn. Things have changed over the years, and one of the most valuable things is now a social presence, and cracking Facebook is key.

You have to admire Facebook, as they did not have to launch a new service to fight back at Google+. The reason for this is because they already have it in place, but offering a guide on how to understand and use these features is very important. Google currently has no answer to this, and this could hurt them in the short term. However, let’s not forget that once Google+ for Business launches they already know so much about how to monetize, so could give Facebook yet another headache.

Currently it is like David and Goliath, and we all know how that turned out.

LinkedIn IPO demand could be very strong tomorrow, but a possible irrational valuation of $45 per share could stall things a little. This would value the social networking company at $4 billion, that’s an increase of $10 a share. However, the early signs show that investors will pay that price.

WSJ say that this is one of the most anticipated initial public offerings in years, but they cannot help but think how much interest would be generated if Facebook had already had their IPO? LinkedIn only had a revenue of $243 million in 2010, but only managed to make a profit of $15.4 million.

The worrying thing that investors will have to take into consideration is the fact that LinkedIn is not expected to make much of a profit this year, as they have already made plans to invest heavily into the technology to help its growth. We can be certain that the likes of Facebook and Groupon will be watching tomorrows IPO very carefully, just to see if investors are prepared to buy into such a business.

What makes LinkedIn different to other social networking services is the fact that most of their subscribers are somewhat wealthy, as they are mostly business types. This means that they will be more beneficial to the advertisers – something that investors will consider.

Do you think that LinkedIn is worth $4 billion? Will the IPO prove popular?

There may well be location-based services and social networking applications – such as Facebook – available for iOS users already, but we’ve just received word about a new social network app for the iPhone, iPod and iPad, which has been specifically designed for parents.

According to Mary Ann Neder at appmodo.com, Kima Ventures-backed YellowBrck has just announced the release of its new YellowBrck social network app that not only enables parent to stay in touch, but also earn themselves coupons and discounts from both local and online retailers.

Users can earn the discounts and coupons simply by ‘checking-in’ day-to-day parenting activities such as playtime, mealtime and laundry duties. The YellowBrck app also enables parents to share and exchange information including tips on parenting, and ideas and activities.

It will even help parent discover the latest family events or hot spots in their area or nationwide. Just like Foursquare and other location-based applications, YellowBrck comes with check-ins and badges, as well as discounts and coupons for stores such as Dapple, Torly Kid and EcoMum.

Moms and dads will even be able to check in with other parents to arrange play dates, as well as collect virtual sticker achievements like ‘power user’ and ‘busy body.’ The YellowBrck app is available to download from the Apple App Store now. Do you use any social network apps?

Over the past year or so social networking has grown at an alarming, but most of us still find it a bit impersonal. However, a new device called the “Kissing Machine” could become the next Facebook feature. OK, so we are having a little fun with this, but you never know right? This could take off, but we very much doubt it.

The reason why this new machine has been developed is because of the online age, and how you can only show your affection to the one that you love by sending them a message or on a video chat. This is all great, but how you can never show them physically, until now. It is for this reason that the likes of Facebook could have a “Kiss Me” button to complement the “Like Me” button.

The Kissing machine requires you and the person that you love to have a device each, you then have to pick it up and then stick some sort of plastic rod in your mouth, you then can move this with your tongue, and the person who you are linked to on the Internet will notice that their device is also moving, giving you the feeling that your partner is giving you a bit of tongue action.

AOL Weird News explains that Author Andrea Demirjian is not convinced by this, and feels that machines will never be able to replace the human when it comes to kissing. We have to agree, how romantic is it to place a big plastic box to your mouth and start to smooch – it will be like trying to have a drink from a juice box?

Do you think the Kissing Machine will ever take off?

A recent research study has been looking into daily Twitter users and their relationships. More than 800,000 users of the micro-blog were found to have shorter relationships than those who do not tweet. Those asked in the study complied by OkTrends were aged between 18 to 50.

For those of you who are interested in the numbers, then those who do not use Twitter usually have a relationship that lasts eleven and a half months, whereas those who do use it lasts just ten and a half months. So we can see that there is a difference of one month, but why is this?

The Daily Reveille says that the professor in charge of the study believes that the reason why those relationships of twitter users do not last as long is due to the fact of personality types. Loretta Pecchioni believes that those who use Twitter have more “extreme personalities” than those who do not use it. Do not think that this is a bad thing it’s just different.

Now not certain if Twitter users will like what the professor said next, she believes that they are always looking for something that excites them, and also has a shorter attention span. Is this really a bad thing, having someone who is fun and exciting is better than a bore.

What are your thoughts on this recent study?

Every now and then something big happens in the world, and social networking websites go wild, and that is just what is happening now. Twitter Search explodes as Osama Bin Laden is Dead? There has been a huge reaction after President Barack Obama announced to the world of the news.

For some you do not get much bigger than this, which is why Twitter Search is much more than it had been on Friday for the royal wedding. Then there were one in ten searches for the wedding, but today there are one in five searches, as users all talk about one thing – Bin Laden.

It is not just Twitter who has seen a huge jump in searches when it comes to the leader Osama bin Laden, Google has also seen a spike, and there are no signs of this dying down any time soon. This certainly shows us just how powerful a thing like social networking is, as news can now spread the globe much faster than it ever did before.

It is certainly great news for many that Osama bin Laden is dead, but there are some skeptics that will not believe it. However, Obama has made it sound very convincing. We will now wait to see later in the day if the searches for this man will be searched even more when the U.S. is not in bed, maybe even down to one in three searches.

What are your reactions to learn that Osama Bin Laden Is Dead?

If you own an iOS device and you currently use TweetDeck, you’ll be pleased to know that the popular social networking app has just received a major overhaul. However, TweetDeck version 2.0 has been released as a brand new app, rather than just an update to the existing one.

For this reason, TweetDeck is encouraging users to uninstall the current app on their iOS device, and download the new and improved TweetDeck version 2.0. As Chloe Albanesius from pcmag.com reports, the new app not only comes with a brand new design, but it also supports iOS 4.0.

Although the usual columns have remained, TweetDeck has now an option that enables users to customize the feeds that appear within the columns. The new and improved app also features built-in support for deck.ly for long posts, although this feature can be turned off via the settings menu.

A brand new compose window has also been added, enabling users to add photos and geo-tagging, as well as auto-complete names and shorten URLs. Users also have the ability to explore Twitter feeds by swiping, while a Tweet detail view enables you to read an entire conversation.

You can read more about the TweetDeck 2.0 app via the itunes.apple.com website. Do you currently use the TweetDeck app on your iOS device?
