Released by Power App, SMSWriter has 843 different templates in English, and 1170 in German. Almost every occasion is covered with categories ranging from Christmas, Easter, Love, Friendship, Valentine’s Day, Father’s Day, Mother’s Day, greetings, birthday’s, jokes, and weddings. The customized messages can also be sent from within the application.

With this application users can easily send someone a text message they will always remember. For that special someone there are 150 templates expressing love. Birthdays are covered with 144 different templates, with friendship having 280 templates. Each template contained in the application can be individually customized.

My wife moans at me for sending that amount, so how would she feel if she had a couple of teens at hope? The reason I say this is due to new research that states that there are teens out there that stay up at least an extra few hours after going to bed sending texts to friends.

JFK Medical Center, in Edison, N.J. has some research that proves that this past time can lead to a number of medical conditions. Half of the teens tested in the research suffered from a number of conditions, such as ADHD (attention deficit hyperactivity disorder), learning difficulties, depression and anxiety.

It is hard not to worry, and you have to wonder what can be done about it? Christina M. Kelly from MSNBC picks up on a valid point from the research, when it states “teens consider the loss of a cell phone more dire than the loss of an internal organ.”

Although these teens say that they are not tired after spending hour’s texting, we all know how sleep deprivation can affect us? So what can be done about this problem? Have you had this issue with your children, what did you do?

However, it is not all good for the iPhone maker though, as their latest sexting patent has been met with joy and anger.

Apple always likes to take control of what we do on our iPhone, so it came as no surprise that they wanted to try and add a parental control mechanism for SMS on the iPhone. They hope to be able to prevent young children from sending rude text messages – often called sexting. There are other forms of this called chexting, which you can read more on in a previous article.

John C. Dvorak from PC Mag has been looking more closely at Apple’s plans and had this to say, ‘Let’s face reality this patent is not about sexting.” We can be certain that there are those who agree, but if you are a parent who continually worries about what your child is typing on their handset – then this could come as a relief.

Dvorak believes that there is more to this patent than meets the eye, saying that there are more uses to this than just parental control alone – what these are we will just have to wait and see. Do you think that this anti- sexting patent is a good idea, or one step too far?

Thankfully, this is where jailbreaking comes in, such as this Cydia Apps one that allows you to send SMS in groups / lists.

According to an article on Redmond Pie, texting has never been an easy affair on the iPhone, with much cheaper phones doing a better job. It is for this reason why people decide to jailbreak their iPhone, but we have to point out that Apple has been getting a little better with SMS features.

The GroupSMS app that requires Cydia to work makes it possible for your iPhone to become an efficient phone when sending texts, by taking all the effort out of sending to groups of people at any one time.

The idea of an encrypted SMS is one that will be of interest to a number of iPhone users who leaves their phones lying around; this way no one will be able to read a personal message. Skipper Eye from Redmond Pie explains that this is a safe and useful tool, and we are certain that most of you with a jailbroken iPhone will agree.

That is not the best part of this app; the receiver will not have to have any app installed to read the message. However, they will need a jailbroken iPhone or iPod Touch– sorry to state the obvious.

A LA attorney has said that she is seeing more cases where partners are cheating on their spouses through technology, mostly through texting. The reason why people get drawn into chexting is because a chext is always unfinished. Looks like we will be hearing a lot more about this if celebs keep doing what they do.

Record New Year 2010 messages are expected to be sent in most countries around the world. An article on CNN Money explains how one company – TeleCommunication Systems – has helped power over 480 billion text messages, and is on target to hit 700 billion messages in 2009. This equals an amazing average of over 2-billion text messages per day.

The Australian reports that a record 123 million-plus text messages will be sent by Australians over the 2010 New Year period. They said that Optus and Telstra are expecting 57 million and 66 million SMS messages, respectively from New Year’s Eve to the end of New Year’s Day. This is a massive increase on their 2008/2009 SMS numbers.

The United States, UK, and many other countries report similar growth thanks to SMS and social media. Will you text message or make a phone call to say Happy New Year?
