If you use Skyfire on your iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad you will be well-aware of the app’s ‘Flashy’ features, well the guys at Skyfire Labs have been busy and recently rolled out new versions of their popular applications – we now know what changes / improvements these bring. For those of you who don’t know Skyfire allows you to view Flash content on your Apple device, therefore it has sold very well, so much so the app was downloaded 300,000 times in its first weekend and is said to be the top-grossing app in the available at the Apple App Store.

Let’s start with Skyfire 3.3.0 for iPhone, this new release is said to have zapped some bugs and also prepared the app for a more substantial update in the future. Once you have this version of the app installed you should notice that Skyfire now supports more Google Maps and push to talk features, also a Twitter pop up issue has been fixed and we are told that the Stuck in tab mode bug has been rectified.

Skyfire 2.5.0 for iPad includes all of the aforementioned changes, however you get one extra feature. Once installed and run the App on your iPad videos will launch in fullscreen mode by default – are you happy with this change?

In the release notes it clearly states that a more feature rich update is coming to both apps soon, therefore while you guys are here we thought we would ask you what you would like to see changed and what new features you would like to see. Feel free to get inventive in the comments section below.

You can grab Skyfire 3.3.0 for iPhone here and Skyfire 2.5.0 for iPad here. The app for iPhone costs $2.99, whilst the app for iPad costs $4.99 – you can find out more about these apps over at Skyfire.com.

Since Skyfire for iPad brought flash content to Apple’s iPad we have heard a lot of things about the mobile web browser, now we can tell you about another product which Skyfire Labs has released for both iPhone and iPad – this is called VideoQ.

What is VideoQ? Well simply put VideoQ is a new app which allows you to watch Flash videos which you come across whilst using Safari or any other browser, simply email the web link to your unique VideoQ email address or paste a Web link into the app and you will be able to watch it in VideoQ. This means you could queue up multiple videos and watch them at once, neat eh?

The app also has a social element, this allows you to discover the day’s hottest content, check out video channels and much more. If you have a particular interest such as technology or gaming etc you can customize video channels to see exactly what you want to see. Not only does VideoQ allow you to see content which you usually wouldn’t be able to see on your iOS device, but it also saves roughly 75% in terms of bandwidth – this means if you have a restrictive data plan you can watch four times the amount of video content as others may be able to.

As previously mentioned Skyfire VideoQ runs on both iPhone and iPad, we looked a little deeper and iPod Touch users should have no problems running the app either. The app costs $3.99 and requires iOS 4.0 or later, you can find out more details regarding requirements and perhaps buy the app here.

Below we have embedded a video which gives you a quick overview of the app’s functionality, it is an ideal solution if you are not a fan the Skyfire web browser but still want to see Flash content. So far reviews of the app haven’t been great, it currently has a 3 star rating based on 41 ratings and we are a little concerned by the compaints which suggest the app isn’t all that easy to use, also people are suggesting that content doesn’t always show up in VideoQ.

Have you used Skyfire videoQ? If so, did you experience any problems? Is the app worth $3.99? Let us know in the comments section below.

If you have been looking to view Flash content on your iPad you will probably know that Apple has not made this possible, however there is an award-winning app out there called Skyfire which allows you to watch Flash videos on your iPad whilst delivery a rich and efficient web browsing experience.

Skyfire is by no means new, in fact the only reason we are giving it a mention today is that Skyfire Labs will let you buy the app for just $2.99 for a limited time, usually it costs $4.99 so if you have been considering buying this app today is a good day to do it. The app uses its patent pending technology to compress and convert Flash video almost seamlessly to give iPad users the content they want to see quickly and easily.

You can find out more over at iTunes (where you can also buy the app), we do not know when this offer will end and we highly recommend this app to anyone who has ever want to view Flash videos on their iPad, please note that Flash games and apps are not supported.

Skyfire has won plenty of awards and accolades and is currently the top utility app in the US AppStore, it is not a one trick pony either as it features a great user interface and all of the features which we would expect from a modern-day mobile web browser.

Did you buy Skyfire? If so, are you impressed so far?

Two days ago Apple finally made the iPad 2 announcement, it is hard not to be impressed by its super-slim design and speedy performance, however Apple has not added Adobe Flash support, this is no real surprise, however with so many competitive devices emerging will Apple regret this decision?

Steve Jobs and Apple have a strong stance on Adobe Flash support, you can see their thoughts on Flash here, to summarize they think that Adobe Flash being closed and 100% proprietary to Adobe means that Adobe has too much control, whereas an open standard like HTML5 is not controlled by one company, also let’s not forget that Flash is not great for portable device’s battery consumption.

With the BlackBerry PlayBook, Motorola Xoom, HP Touchpad and the LG G-Slate all offering Adobe Flash support in 2011 we wonder if this will sway people’s decisions away from Apple’s new tablet, however let’s not forget that Apple’s iPhone 4 has done very well in the high-end smartphone despite never offering Flash support, whilst Android smartphones do.

If you buy the iPad 2 there is one solution, if you use the Skyfire web browser Flash content is automatically transcoded into HTML on Skyfire’s servers, this is not a perfect solution, however it is a workaround if you need to view Flash content on a certain website when using your iPad.

Does the lack of Adobe Flash support bother you?

Back in January Skyfire rolled out an updated version of its mobile web browser for Android, which included a few improvements and a number of bug fixes. Now we have received news that an updated version has just been released for the iPhone, bringing with it deeper Facebook integration.

According to a recent article over on the intomobile.com website by Dusan, Skyfire 3.0 for iPhone (also compatible with the iPod Touch and iPad) is now available to download from the Apple App Store. One of the new features included in the latest update is Popular Content.

The Popular Content feature enables users to instantly view what content on any given website is the most popular amongst your Facebook friends. Another great feature is the Fireplace Feed Reader, which provides a filtered list of your Facebook feed including videos/images posted by your Facebook friends.

Version 3.0 also brings the Facebook “Like Button” to the web browser, allowing users to “Like” or “Unlike” any web page they visit. In addition to the social networking features, Skyfire 3.0 also brings support for even more Flash video content, from websites that weren’t previously supported.

As noted on the itunes.apple.com website (where you can read the full list of new features), the Skyfire application does require your Apple device to be running iOS 3.0 or later. Do you use the Skyfire Mobile Web Browser app on your iOS device?

The updated mobile web browser app is aimed at making user search much easier, with a new search box that can be found at the top of the toolbar UI. According to mobiletor.com, users can simply enter a search term once and instantly get results from VideoSurf, Facebook and Google etc.

Users should also experience better video viewing quality with Skyfire version 3.2, thanks to the increased content providers. The upgrade was also aimed at removing bugs and several crashing issues that users were encountering on certain Android devices.

Are you currently using a previous version of the Skyfire app for Android?

We have some good news for iPhone and iPod Touch users who didn’t get the chance to download the new Skyfire web browser the first time around, as we are hearing that the makers are now preparing to place the software back onto the App store.

As reported from Engadget, the CEO of Skyfire has confirmed in a new blog post, that work is underway to ensure that batches of the Skyfire app for iPhone will be available within a matter of days. Here is a portion of his statement:

”We are going to open batches of downloads for new users over the coming days. The first batch will be in a few minutes on the Apple App Store. It will be first come, first serve.”

Considering that Skyfire will let you view flash content on the iPhone, you shouldn’t be surprised that demand for the app has gone through the roof.

In further good news, the CEO also confirmed that Skyfire for iPhone will soon be available in other countries as well, we’re guessing UK and other parts of Europe. For the moment though, it remains US only.

Have you managed to download Skyfire yet?
