We have some good news for iPhone and iPod Touch users who didn’t get the chance to download the new Skyfire web browser the first time around, as we are hearing that the makers are now preparing to place the software back onto the App store.

As reported from Engadget, the CEO of Skyfire has confirmed in a new blog post, that work is underway to ensure that batches of the Skyfire app for iPhone will be available within a matter of days. Here is a portion of his statement:

”We are going to open batches of downloads for new users over the coming days. The first batch will be in a few minutes on the Apple App Store. It will be first come, first serve.”

Considering that Skyfire will let you view flash content on the iPhone, you shouldn’t be surprised that demand for the app has gone through the roof.

In further good news, the CEO also confirmed that Skyfire for iPhone will soon be available in other countries as well, we’re guessing UK and other parts of Europe. For the moment though, it remains US only.

Have you managed to download Skyfire yet?

Since Apple have approved the Skyfire web browser which plays Flash videos for the iPhone, was this done to prove that Flash has lost relevance?

Brian X. Chen of Wired has spent some time with the app since it came out on Wednesday. He first had to find a website with loaded Flash video, and found the search difficult. Many websites which feature a lot of video including the likes of YouTube and DailyMotion have already moved to HTML5.

It was also found that 54% of web video is now HTML5 compatible. He was eventually pointed to a website called CWTV. As soon as Skyfire knew he was trying to play a Flash video, a play button became available at the bottom of the browser. In less than five seconds an episode of ‘Smallville’ was being streamed.

Some problems were discovered when the TED Talks website was loaded. The site is a gallery of Flash videos and the browser wouldn’t transcode them. The author had a tough time finding reasons to use Skyfire, but concluded that the main reason for it is that many porn sites still rely on Flash. This could be for a limited time because his ‘research’ says that most porn sites will be changing to HTML5 soon.

For those of you who were lucky enough to download the new Skyfire app for iPhone before it encountered server issues, what are your initial impressions of the web browser after having a good while to play around it.

Considering that Skyfire 2.0 will now enable you to watch flash content on your iPhone 4, will it now replace the default Safari browser for your daily web surfing?

We recently told you about a hands-on video demo that had been provided to you courtesy of Engadget, but we’re more interested to see some user opinions on the software.

Hopefully the Skyfire creators will get the licencing issues fixed up, so everyone else can download it from the App store, but for everyone that does have it, let us know how you rate the flash content viewing on Skyfire so far.

We have some disappointing news for iPhone 4 owners now, as although the highly anticipated application for the Skyfire web browser went live on the App Store a few hours ago, we can now confirm that it has already been yanked.

Strangely, the application appears to have ‘sold out’ – according to the creators of Skyfire, who have stated that the application has been temporarily removed due to the lack of licences for the browser, caused by popular demand.

The app only costs $2.99 to download and as the Skyfire team point out, it’s pretty popular due to Skyfire’s ability to bypass Apple’s Flash restrictions on the iPhone, allowing users to watch flash videos on their handsets – finally.

At least the app has been removed for technical reasons, and not Apple yanking it on purpose due to a power trip. Question is though – how many of you were lucky enough to download it before the app became unavailable?

If you already have Skyfire 2.0 running on your iPhone, let us know your thoughts on it so far.
