Sonic Unleashed Review

November 19, 2008 by Alan

Sonic Unleashed will be released next week and already the Telegraph have gotten their hands on the title and have written a review giving their views and opinions. Sadly it appears Sega has come up short again in delivering us a worthy Sonic title once again.

After years of disappointing Sonic games in the past many believed that their latest title, Sonic Unleashed would finally give our blue hedgehog some peace at last, but the most of the review suggests that this title is far from being a success and that the game ultimately suffers from poor design decisions.

There are some positive moments though as they praise some of the platform levels and the lush 3D environments that you are in. Other than that they do not find many other plus points in this title and that is evident in their 5/10 rating. One of their closing comments, ‘Sega need to think long and hard about where their mascot heads next’ sums it up really, and suggests that Sonic fans will need to wait much longer until they get a game that can rival the Megadrive titles. Do you agree?

SEGA’s Super Monkey Ball for Apple iPhone at WWDC 2008

At today’s WWDC 2008, just a few minutes ago Ethan Einhorn from SEGA has been discussing how impressed he was when they set to coding Super Monkey Ball for the Apple iPhone and now the game is complete. SEGA’s Super Monkey Ball is back and will be on the Apple iPhone for $9.99 from the official App Store, it took them just 95 days to code.

Because the development of the game was so quick, they could add lots of levels and it has over 100 of them. Ethan was seen on stage at WWDC playing a Super Monkey Ball level, tilting the iPhone to move through. This is great news for people who want to play games on the move with their iPhones.

The graphics look unbelievable compared to anything that we have seen before on any cellphone. The games graphics look like something from the Nintendo DS. Now that thousands of people are building apps for the Apple iPhone, we should see many more games like Super Monkey Ball and your iPhone might just become like a Nintendo DS.

Sega aims at next Marvel-movie tie-in, The Incredible Hulk

The last movie from Marvel that went to the gaming platforms was Iron Man and it did not get amazing results, but now Sega are getting ready for the next Marvel-movie tie-in, The Incredible Hulk.

Sega Nerds point out the aggressive marketing that will be taken to promote The Incredible Hulk video game, they said “Sega is also going to be doing some aggressive marketing for the game (at least in the UK), and will be releasing adverts alongside the movie release in theatres”.

Sega UK’s Product Manager, Ben Payne said “We are replicating our Iron Man cinema activity for The Incredible Hulk. Over the opening two weeks of the film which is released on June 12, we will hit 1.5 million admissions across Carlton Screen and Pearl and Dean advertising”.

The results of how good this game becomes, will come from how catchy the marketing is, the film is one I want to watch but can the game get away from the average feel that the Iron Man had.

The Incredible Hulk will be released (in Europe) for Xbox 360 and DS on June 13, June 20 for PS2 and PS3, PC on June 20 and Wii on July 11.

See the full press release from SEGA of America on Sega Nerds, this shows you more details about the video game release. Will you be watching the new Hulk movie and do you think you will buy the game?

Iron Man Video Review: Is this PS3 and Xbox 360 game for kids?

Iron Man Video Review
As we all know Iron Man was a massive success in the theatres but is the same for the game? Donning the red suit Iron Man for the gaming world looks good or does it look bad, we will leave that one up to you to decide. The Sega title for PS3 and Xbox 360 players take control of Tony Stark ripping apart tanks, catching fighter jets and flying high. The billionaire hero’s game shiny and polished or covered in a thick layer of tarnish? Runs parallel to the story of the film, the games plot attempts to excite and whoa us and the graphics look pretty decent compared to a lot of games on the market.

The only downsides to this game is the fact that if you have not seen the film in the theatres we can see you having real troubles understanding the story, for example if you have not seen the film but go and play the game you will not know about the power cell on iron mans chest.

The game is about of course the development of the suit and villains of course within the game have their very own suits, the game consists of a dozen missions including cities, deserts and flying fortresses. Each mission is similar, you basically fly to an area and then identify your targets and destroy them all and then take on the next set of targets.

I have not seen this film yet but have heard it is a great film to watch, but will this game be all what it is said to be. So is this game good or not, personally it seems a pretty good game but plots and storyline is pretty thin.

Please watch the Iron Man Video Review below and then let us know what you think of the game.

Sega’s Robot Chicken

Sega’s Robot Chicken

This Robotic Chicken is modelled on a 4 day old chick. This lifelike baby chick flaps it wings and cries just like a real chick and if you tap the little chick on the head or back it will chirp.

Now this is a chicken that I would love because there is no mess and does not need feeding.

Check out the video below to see this little chicken in action
