According to a recent eurogamer.net article by Fred Dutton, the SEGA Rally online Arcade game is coming to Xbox Live Arcade on May 18th, so you really don’t have too long to wait. Although the upcoming game is also heading to the PS3, a PSN release date was unfortunately not mentioned.

As recently noted over on Major Nelson’s blog, the SEGA Rally Online Arcade game will set you back 800 Microsoft Points. The upcoming downloadable title is said to be a combination of the 2007 console game SEGA Rally, and its arcade machine counterpart.

SEGA Rally Online Arcade will see the return of the Time Attack and Championship Battle modes, as well as a brand new online mode that will enable gamers to race against up to five other drivers. The game will also feature 13 different cars, online leaderboards and a new achievement system.

SEGA Rally Online Arcade will show up on the Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network later this year, details are scarce, however SEGA’s Vice President of Digital Business had this to say about the game “We’ve blended our hit arcade racing series with the best elements from the console versions to bring our fans the SEGA Rally experience in compact, downloadable format”.

Apparently when it arrives gamers will be able to race against each-other and also try and also play its well-known Time Attack modes and Championship battle, there will be a new achievement system, 13 rally cars to choose from and online leaderboards, all in all it sounds like a pretty solid arcade release.

We have embedded a video at the end of this post showing some SEGA Rally 3 gameplay, I think if SEGA Rally Online Arcade’s visuals are anything like this the arcade game will look pretty good, let’s just hope its Xbox Live and PSN integration is a hit.
