Google starts DoubleClick Integration with AdSense

Just months after Google had purchased DoubleClick; the search engine giant has already started the integration process. Those that will benefit from the technology will be Google’s AdSense content network; frequency capping and view-through conversion reporting will be the first step.
Once DoubleClick has been fully integrated into AdSense, users will then have the option to opt-out of ad serving from DoubleClick and their content network.
Google have a long road ahead of them as they are planning a huge number of improvements, all designed to give the user more functionality. Some of Google’s other planned additions are frequency capping, view-through conversion measurement capabilities as well as frequency reporting.
None of this advancements are available yet and do not expect them within the next few months. One thing is certain though, Google are showing publishers and advertisers that they are now working at incorporating DoubleClick into its ad operation.
Google has been changing a number of features on AdSense, both for publishers and advertisers. Google hope that they are improving AdSense, but only time will tell if this is true or not.
New Search Engine Cuil: Comparison to Google & Microsoft

We spoke this morning about the new Cuil search engine, which has been started up by a former Google employee and her husband. Now we would like to take a further look at this new search engine and see how it compares to some of the other major players, such as Google & Microsoft.
Cuil founders have said that their search engine does a better and more comprehensive job of indexing online information over their rivals. The technology that Cuil use indexes the web and then understands the context surrounding each page.
Cuil have come out all exited and say that they can take on search engine giants, Google, but I think that they will struggle to do this.
Cuil have said that they use more than 120 billion web pages to build up their index, the search engine say that this is more than Google. We are not certain how many Microsoft index, but it will be less than this figure.
We do know that everything we search in Google, the search engine giant keep and store. I do not think that Microsoft do this. Cuil have said that they will not keep your personal information and this is a great marketing angle, considering everyone is concerned about their online privacy.
Google and Microsoft keep their search results in a classic format, where Cuil makes things pretty by displaying results in a magazine format.
Not once has Cuil said that they want to be bigger than Microsoft; you would have thought that they would set their sites on a smaller search engine, then try to take on the giant.
Cuil say that they move away from the technology that has driven Google to their success. Instead of just looking at the number of quality of links to and from a webpage like Google do, Cuil attempts to understand the information on the page more.
It is amazing at how different each search grabs results from a web page. One thing is sure, Cuil have a mountain to climb before they can match Google.
My closing point: As Cuil has a black homepage, this saves energy. A white webpage will use 74 watts to display, a black page uses just 59 watts.
Have a little play around with Cuil and let us know what you think about it.
Microsoft ends Yahoo takeover bid

Microsoft executives have said that they have now ended their bid to takeover Yahoo, which means that they will now have to find other ways to gain ground in online search.
Microsoft Corp. executives have now ruled against a acquisition of Yahoo Inc., they still acknowledge that Yahoo would have given them a much needed boost in the online search industry.
Latimes reports that Chief Financial Officer Chris Liddell has told Microsoft investors that the odds of a takeover were “so small as to be essentially negligible.” He said that both sides still continue to disagree about how much Yahoo is worth.
Liddell also added that the value of Yahoo is now declining, so the $33 per share that Microsoft had offered is no longer worth the price, so they are not willing to pay that.
Liddell has said that Microsoft will not get as far as they would like online, as they would if they had Yahoo.
Microsoft and Yahoo discuss takeover: Will it happen

It is well known that Microsoft wish to purchase Yahoo, however the first stab at buying Yahoo did not go well for Microsoft. Since then both companies have met again over the possibility of a Microsoft takeover. As I mentioned above, Microsoft tried to make an unsolicited offer for the sum of $42 billion, one that Yahoo rejected.
The meeting between Microsoft and Yahoo, the second and third biggest search engine companies did not sit down to discuss money. Instead they wanted to meet so that they could discuss what Microsoft wanted to do with Yahoo if they did accept an offer.
Nothing else is known about the outcome of the meeting. Do you think that this takeover will ever happen?
