With just under one week to go, children will now be scratching their heads as for a few ideas on Fathers Day gifts. However, we think we have a solution for you if money is no object, a Samsung Smart TV. OK, we know that this will be out of range for a huge percentage of you, but those who have a budget of just over $2,000 then you could do a lot worse here.

Over the years you would have figured out that our father’s like nothing more than to sit in front of the TV and watch a good old movie or a huge sporting event. More often than not they like to have a few friends over to watch the big game, but we know how that angers their wife. However, with the Samsung Smart TV it will be like your dad’s mates are there watching it even if they are not – if you know what we mean?

You may remember sometime back that we discussed how you could use the power of social media to communicate with friends via Twitter or Facebook? Well just imagine your father sitting down and watching the Super Bowl and being able to chat with his friends while they are at their homes doing the same thing; that way your dad is happy is so is your mum?

Do remember that there is so much more to this TV than that though. Your father might prefer to watch movies and not sports – as my dad does. Now this is where the world of 3D comes into its own. Never before have you been able to get much closer to the action. Do remember that you will need a 3D Blu-ray player to match – again Samsung has this covered.

Make certain that your parents have enough space in their home for a large screen TV, as the new range of Smart TVs from Samsung start from 55-inch and go up to 64-inch – although that will cost you a massive $3,799.99. Please remember that you have a few choices to make, so this is not something to be rushed into, such as screen size, budget, 3D or 2D and finally LED or Plasma.

You do not have that long to go, make the choice before it is too late.

The Samsung Smart TV is going from strength to strength in most major countries; we had already discussed about the TV commercials in the UK, and now Australia have started their own. The “Immersion” campaign, as it is known will focus on 4 key strengths of the new range of TVs.

These four keys areas of focus are as follows: High Definition, One Design, Full HD 3D and finally Smart Hub4. So the first looks into the picture quality, which we know Samsung are way ahead of the game for their price ranges. The second is all to do with how thin each Smart TV model is; thirdly it is all about the latest in viewing technology that jumps out at you, and finally is the ability to connect to the world socially.

The commercial has been cleverly shot and you can see in the image over on Campaign Brief how a blank canvas of a living room has been used in what is described as “immersive spaces”, which has been done by using a technique called Projection Mapping. The production company behind the commercial is Flying Fish.

Samsung knows that their range of Samsung Smart TVs has so much more to offer than some of the other brands on the market so needed a campaign to make them stand out. Now we do not know about you, but these commercials that will begin in Australia in the middle of June will certainly be noticed.

Do you think that the “Samsung Smart TV Immersion Campaign” will confuse or make consumers more curios about these devices?

Carrying on from our post earlier this morning about weight loss apps, it has come to our attention that there are currently no apps of this kind for the Samsung Smart TV. We are still confused as to why this is, as this is the main device that people use for a weight loss program in the home. We just hope that this will change soon.

The only weight loss apps available are those on smartphones and tablets, and although they are good at what they do, they will never give you what you would get from a TV. How many times have you tried to follow a workout routine on an iPhone or Android handset? It is so hard to keep motivated while trying to watch a video or guide on a 4-inch or smaller screen.

Samsung, or the app developers are certainly missing a great opportunity here. There is so much potential for such an app, instead of pointless ones – and there are a number of them. Just imagine how good it would be if you have you Samsung Smart TV on and then using a weight loss app, as well as using twitter at the same time?

There is a possibility that such an app could be used in conjunction with Twitter, as you could do a workout with a friend at the same time at another location. You could both be in front of you TV in different locations and just before you begin you can inform your friends. Then when you have a short break you can chat with their friend and talk about your progress.

This is a great way to motivate each other, but there is one thing missing – an app. We ask that Samsung get in touch with developers and try to come up with a solution. If they need convincing, they only need to look at how high sales are of DVD workouts are after the holiday season.

Would you like to see a workout app on the Samsung Smart TV?

When it comes to choosing between the Series 7 Samsung Smart TV and the Sony HX820, it is a difficult proposition to conclude which one you should by. We know that there are other models on the market, but these two represent the most equal from their range. These are both the second from the top of the range LED TVs from the brands, so we can expect some great features and superb image quality.

Choosing which has the best design really comes down to personal taste, but for us the Samsung slightly edges out the Sony. No longer do they feel like lumps of plastic like the first flat screen TVs did when they were first launched. The Sony BRAVIA HX820 is like an oversized photo frame, which sits nicely on its base. The 7 Series is also very sleek looking and offers a silver strip around the edge.

PC World Australia believes that if they had to choose they would go for the Samsung, as the bezel is just slightly thinner. Both TVs can connect to the Internet and offer a whole range of extra features. However, it is the Samsung that goes that one-step further with their Smart TV apps.

Do not get us wrong, you can still do a whole load of things on the Sony, but Samsung has taken things to another level, which you can read more about here. If features are not a deciding factor, then the price could be, as the Sony model is a couple of hundred dollars less. Is it worth sacrificing all those extra features to save you a few bucks?

There is now a new Samsung Smart TV app that allows you to use your Galaxy S II handset to control your TV. However, you need to make certain that you are running Android 2.3 Gingerbread or higher. This will turn your smartphone into a remote and game controller, making typing and searching much easier than the standard remote control.

The app is called Smart View and works with Series 7 and 8 of the Samsung Smart TV range. We are not certain what other handsets this app supports, but we do know for certain that it works with the Galaxy S II and will even allow you to control your Samsung Blu-ray player as well – only those with Smart functions.

We have heard from a number of readers who say that they find it hard to control game apps with the standard remote, so using your app makes things much easier. One would expect that this app would support the Galaxy Tab – hopefully the 10.1-inch version when it gets released this month.

Remember that you need to have to use your Wi-Fi in order for this to work, which should not be an issue for most homes. This is a lot like you can do with the iPad/iPhone and the Apple TV. This has been a very popular feature, so was inevitable that it would come to the Samsung Smart TV. For further details visit the Android Market.

Did you know that you might actually be able to lose weight with the Samsung Smart TV, thanks to both recipes and exercise videos? So how can they actually help? Well did you know that you could use the TV to learn the nutritional value, as well as the most appetizing meals? Never before has that device in your living room been able to do so much.

Also with the Samsung Smart TV you are able to browse through videos that will help you to stay fit and lose weight. Now if you get told that you are watching too much TV and that you are wasting away, you can tell them where to go. There are many ways in which to use the TV to help you, so here are a few tips.

Firstly, did you know that a number of cooking programs that show you how to cook something offer you more details on a Samsung Smart TV? While watching you will get information such as all the ingredients that you need, as well as the nutritional value of each meal.

Now exercise is a different story, as there are two ways in which you can do this. The first is by going to YouTube and viewing the videos on your TV, or another way is to visit the Samsung App Store and search for an exercise video, just like you would on the iPad or iPhone.

Please share with us how Samsung Smart TV has helped change your life.

There is no denying how popular the Samsung Smart TV is, and most of this is all thanks to the integration of apps, much like those used on smartphones. Their App Store was launched back in February 2010, and by the end of that year only 1 million downloads had been achieved. Now five months later that figure has risen to 5 million, with the YouTube app topping the list.

The second most downloaded Samsung Smart TV app is Google Maps, with AccuWeather coming in third and Vimeo fourth. These four make up the 550 or so apps in the store, reports TechRadar. Now we know that these numbers seem pretty low when compared to smartphone apps, but you have to consider that this new TV will not be sold as much as the likes of the iPhone.

In the past we explained about how to use Twitter on the TV, as well as the 3D VOD app being launched in the US. You can see that we seem to cover this issue a lot, but it is only because we see the Samsung Smart TV as a game changer in its market. The likes of Sony already has its own version, but we believe that Samsung is on top of its game on this one.

We always like to stay biased on PR, but I have had a number of TV sets over the years and for me I always seem to go back to Samsung. The company seems to have that perfect balance between features and price. We know that there are other brands on the market that say they offer better quality, but maybe you should take a look at their price and then get back to us.

The power of social media is here, its not going anywhere and is part of our everyday lives. There are new ways to use it all the time, such as on your Samsung Smart TV. By integrating social media features watching your favorite movies, TV shows and sporting events has not got much easier.

Say you are watching an episode of a show or watching the big game, you can view your Twitter or Facebook account to see what your friends are saying. Never before has it been easier to share your thoughts with your friends as it happen right in front of you on the screen.

If you do not have a Samsung Smart TV you have to keep watching what is in front of you while trying to connect to Facebook or Twitter on another device. The trouble is by doing this you might miss an important part of the game. Connecting to this is easy; you can press the social TV button on the remote or by going through the Smart Hub menu.

We have to wonder why such a thing was never done before; watching TV has always been a social experience? Samsung are on top of their game when it comes to TV technology, and Smart TV proves it. The consumer electronics maker is always adding more Smart TV features all the time; the latest is 3D VOD streaming.

You may remember last month we reported that a new 3D VOD App was on it ways, well now you will be pleased to know that the Samsung Smart TV will now offer the US a new way for 3D content, and the best thing is it is free. The new app is called ‘Explore 3D’, which you can access via the SmartHub interface in just one click. Once you have done this you will then have full access to the 3D on-demand streaming service.

Once there you will have access to a growing collection of free 3D content all in HD. Except a number of features from DreamWorks, as they have partnered with Samsung in this new venture. This is just the start, as later this year you can expect much more, such as paid streaming 3D. Once this service goes live you will have access to movies, and documentaries in 3D.

For those who have a 2010/2011 Samsung Smart TV, then all you need do is sign up for an account by using a computer. We can be certain that once you get a taste of this free 3D VOD streaming you will be wanting more – something that rival TV makers cannot offer. Samsung said that they needed to offer this service in order to meet consumers growing demand.

Two of the most important things for this new service are the Explore 3D app from Rovi Corporation, and the 3D Active technology used on Samsung’s Smart TV sets. With the two working in conjunction with each other you know that there are no compromises.

Will you be happy paying for your 3D on-demand streaming service via your Samsung Smart TV?

The UK exposure of Samsung Smart TV increases, as we have finally started to see more commercials appear on TV channels. We know that these new television sets have been in the UK for a few months now, but up until yesterday I had not seen one commercial. However, it seems that they have been there, but I was not looking for them.

The ad was very brief, so we felt that we needed to head to YouTube so we can take a closer look. The UK commercial has gone for an informative approach, so aims to show you as many features as possible during the 45 seconds running time. We love it how the lady says that it takes scare of all her entertainment needs, and from what we have reported in the past she is not wrong.

We love how Samsung have added the Galaxy Tab into the commercial, what better way to promote two devices than by allowing them to work in unison together. We do hope to see more of this commercial, as there is no denying how much of a great product Samsung Smart TV is.

Now the US commercial for the same device has gone for a different approach. There is no talking on this one, just two people sitting on the sofa using the Samsung Smart TV to communicate with each other. This is certainly a clever way to advertise a product; we just cannot wait to see how they top this one.

To see both commercials they are embedded for you below.

Have you seen either Samsung Smart TV commercial, did they persuade you to buy one? Samsung TV’s USA Facebook page can be found here.
