The aging Nexus S 4G is not nice to say, but it is something that was bound to happen now that the Galaxy S2 is on the scene. Sprint is now the second carrier to support the Google phone, so at least it is halfway there. Not much has changed between this version and T-Mobile’s, but it is the inclusion of the WiMAX radio that helps to breath new life into it.

Having said that, it is just a little gasp of air instead of a deep breath, but something is better than nothing we guess. We really have to wonder if Sprint customers will be convinced by this and purchase this aging handset over some of the more newer models; the Samsung Galaxy S II being a perfect example.

The design has always been a nice one, so much so that there are rumors that Apple might add that curved glass design into the next iPhone. However, it just seems that Sprint has been a bit lazy, as the only thing to have changed is the 4G radio. The issue we have with this is the fact that the hardware was not that groundbreaking when it was first launched, and now the device is months old.

It is hoped that consumers will still want a piece of the Nexus S pie, as they will be getting much faster speeds than they do on T-Mobile. For those of you who do not care too much about the latest tech, then you could do far worse than the Nexus S.

Do you think that Sprint has done the right thing by launching a 4G version of the Nexus S?

We have some worrying news to inform you about for those of you who are planning to pick up the Samsung Nexus S handset on T-Mobile, as it has been revealed that T-Mobile are apparently blocking users from accessing video chat whilst on a 3G connection.

As we told you recently, the Nexus S recently received an update to Android Gingerbread version 2.3.4 and the biggest improvements were the addition of Google Video and Voice via Google Talk. This feature has been working fine on the Sprint Nexus S, but this is contrast to the experience that T-Mobile Nexus S users are facing.

According to a report over at Phandroid, T-Mobile has only enabled video chat on the Nexus S through G Talk on a WiFi connection only, meaning that you can’t access it on the go using 3G. This is not the end of the world for some users, but it’s still a strange choice by T-Mobile to block it off completely, especially when the likes of Sprint are doing no such thing.

If you have installed 2.3.4 on your Nexus S and you have experienced this problem at first hand, get in touch with us. Are you mad at T-Mobile for doing this, or do you only use video chat on WiFi anyway? We’ll let you know if we receive word from T-Mobile regarding this.

The White Nexus S from Samsung appears to have slipped under the radar ever since it’s unveiling at the start of the year, but now we can confirm that the device is now available to buy from some retailers online. We have some great pictures of the white model and also a video to show to those that are interested in it.

After taking a look at Engadget’s collection of photos of the device, we have to say that we’re not really digging the brand new color. Often when you think that a white version of a notable smartphone is coming, it usually means that it’s going to look more slicker than the original, but that’s not the case with the White Nexus S.

Based on the picture below, the White Nexus S just looks like the normal black one, but with a bumper around it. The white back of the device features a textured finish but again, we would of liked it to be a little more shiny and more luxurious looking, the Google logo does stand out a bit too – and it’s not a good look.

We hate to draw comparisons to the White iPhone 4 here, but clearly that phone is a good example of how to make a white smartphone look sexy. How many of you feel the same way about the White Nexus S here, or do you think it actually looks ok? Photos and Videos are up at Engadget.

We have some good news for those of you who are on the lookout for a new handset and are still interested in picking up the Samsung Nexus S, as it has been reported that the device will be receiving a significant price cut, for a limited time only.

To make use of the price drop, you’ll need to be willing to sign up to a new contract with T-Mobile. Best Buy are the retailer offering the discount, and you’ll be pleased to know that they are knocking a huge $100 off the price, meaning that you can pick one up for just $99 on a two year contract – not bad at all!

This deal won’t last forever though, and it will run from today, all the way up to March 23rd, as reported from Engadget. There doesn’t appear to be any other catches in this deal so it’s definitely worth having a look at their website listing here.

Don’t forget that the Nexus S is the first Android handset out at the moment which comes equipped with a stock version of Android 2.3 Gingerbread. Other notable features include NFC support, a 1 GHz ARM Cortex A8 processor and front-facing camera. The downside to the Nexus S though, is that it features no external memory support, so you’ll have to survive with 16GB of internal memory, there is USB storage though.

What do you think about this deal? It’s pretty tempting from where we are standing. Let us know if you’re willing to take the plunge or not.

We have some important info for those of you who are planning to pick up a Samsung Nexus S smartphone, as you might want to hold off buying for a while, as a sexy new white version has just been spotted.

As reported from Phandroid, some photos of the White Nexus S in question have been provided by the guys over at BestBoyz. Rather than sport an all white design like other smartphones, notably the White iPhone 4, the Nexus S retains the original black front case and swaps the back for a white one – and we have to say the result is pretty successful.

It looks likely that the White iPhone 4 is finally ready for a global release after recent leaks, but just how many of you are tempted by the White Nexus S? We never thought that a black and white smartphone would look so good, but we’re pleasantly surprised with the final result.

On a disappointing note, we’re hearing that this White model may end up being an exclusive in Europe, but nothing is set in stone yet, and we’ll let you know once we hear any more details.

If you had to choose between the White iPhone 4 and White Nexus S, which handset looks better in your opinion?

Are you one of the many Nexus S owners who recently discovered that their Android device was suffering from a rather embarrassing SMS misdirect bug? If you are, then we have some great news for you, as it appears that an update is now available.

As Ross Miller over at engadget.com (sourced from forum.xda-developers.com) recently reported, Samsung Nexus S owners (if they haven’t already done so) should now start checking their handsets for an over-the-air Android 2.3.2 Gingerbread OS update, which is meant to fix the SMS bug issue.

The Android 2.3.2 update is reportedly being rolled out gradually, so don’t panic if you don’t see it right away. The SMS misdirect bug was discovered following reports from Nexus S users that their text messages were being sent to incorrect contacts.

However, a recent tweet on Samsung’s Galaxy Support Twitter page says that Google’s system update will fix this issue. Have you been experiencing the SMS problem on your Samsung Nexus S phone? If so, have you updated to Android 2.3.2 yet?

We have some important news for those of you who are planning to pick up a Samsung Nexus S smartphone in the UK, as we can confirm that the handset has been delayed, only for a few days though.

As reported from BGR, the Nexus S will be available to buy exclusively through Carphone Warehouse and Best Buy stores in the UK, pretty much the same as Best Buy, as they have it exclusive in the US as well.

If you were hoping to get one in the UK, you are probably aware that it was due for release on December 20th, but we now have word that this date has been changed to Wednesday 22nd December – i.e tomorrow.

Don’t forget that we told you about a new price point for the handset, as it will be available for £429.99 off contract, generously discounted from the original price of £549.95. If you are planning to get a Nexus S before Christmas, let us know if this slight delay affects you.

We have a feeling that Carphone Warehouse and Best Buy stores in the UK are going to have very healthy stock numbers of the Gingerbread-equipped Nexus S, so obtaining one shouldn’t be a problem. Take extra care with the weather conditions though obviously!

Anybody in the UK who’s looking to get the Nexus S, running Android’s 2.3 Gingerbread version, is in for a bit of a treat. Carphone Warehouse is now offering the phone SIM free for £429.99 instead of the original price of £549.95. That is a massive saving of almost £120!

The pre-orders in the UK started earlier this month and were at the full price of £549.95. We at PR were left wondering, what happens if you have paid for your phone upon pre-ordering and you paid the full whack?

One of AndroidCommunity.com’s readers had that exact problem and explained what he did to sort it. The reader’s name is Alistair Burns and he spoke to Carphone Warehouse about the predicament. Once the retailer had been contacted they agreed to send a cheque for the difference of £120, no need to return to the shop to sort it out. Very nice!

There has been another change with the Nexus S; the price of the contract to get the device for free. This has gone from being £35 per month to £30 per month, you can read more about it here. If you need some help deciding whether or not to get this phone, then head to the bottom of our article to view a demo video, courtesy of Slashgear.

The Nexus S has been a very highly anticipated handset this year, one of the biggest. We have already compared it to an iPhone 4, and asked if you believe it is the best Android device so far? We also brought you the announcement that pre-ordering for the device was available here.

Has the change in price made your mind up to get this phone? Let us know your opinion on the Nexus S in the comments below.

While some of you may be surprised about this, we certainly are not. We can now confirm to you that the recently released Samsung Nexus S handset has had it’s Android 2.3 Gingerbread software successfully rooted.

As reported from RedmondPie, hackers have now managed to gain full access to the device, which now means that users will be able to endlessly modify the Nexus S with the ability to boot custom firmwares, overclock the CPU of the Nexus S and perform any other tweaks, either internal or related to the Gingerbread UI.

For example, if a developer decides that they wants to create a new boot animation for the Nexus S, the root access of the device will now enable him or her to do so – the possibilities really are endless.

The good news, is that a full tutorial on how to do it has already been posted online, courtesy of the XDA Developers Forums. Head to the link for full instructions.

What are your thoughts on the root, are you surprised it has come so early? How do you plan to customize your Nexus S?

If you need a further reminder, the Samsung Nexus S will be available to buy at Best Buy stores and online from December 16th onwards. To get you into the mood, the retailer has posted up a detailed FAQ section, giving you every ounce of information on the handset.

As reported from Phandroid, the FAQ attempts to answer all the questions you may have on the Nexus S, and particularly fix up the confusion some of you may be experiencing over where to actually buy the device.

Just to confirm once more, the Nexus S will be available on contract with T-Mobile, but T-Mobile stores will not be selling the Nexus S on launch. Instead, you’ll have to head down to your nearest Best Buy Mobile store if you plan on picking one up.

Another thing to note, is that the Nexus S is not available for pre-order. Best Buy states that they’ll be offering the handset on a first-come, first-serve basis, and they will make use of a ticketing system to customers to want to buy one this Thursday.

If you are interested in viewing the FAQ, you can see it at Best Buy here. Let us know if you are planning to buy a Nexus S on launch day. Are you surprised that you won’t be able to pick one up from T-Mobile stores directly? Best Buy must have worked their stocks off to get this exclusive deal on arguably the most anticipated handset after the iPhone 4. Either way you look at it, this IS the Google Nexus Two we’re looking at here.

Give us your thoughts on this.
