We have good news and bad news now for those of you that live in Canada, and are looking to buy the Samsung Infuse 4G smartphone. The good news is that the Android-based handset is coming to Rogers in Canada, while the bad news is that the release and price is currently unknown.

According to a recent article by Vlad Bobleanta over at unwiredview.com, the Rogers handset has been given the long winded name of the Samsung Galaxy S Infuse 4G. It looks as though it’s the same handset that AT&T sells in the US, meaning that it comes with a 1.2GHz processor under its hood.

For those that may need reminding, the Infuse 4G’s specs include a 4.5-inch Super AMOLED capacitive touch screen display with Gorilla Glass and a resolution of 480 x 800, 16GB of internal memory, a microSD card slot, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, GPS and a 1750mAh battery.

The handset comes with a 1.3-meapixel front-facing camera for video calls and an 8-megapixel camera with LED flash and 720 video capture round the back. The AT&T Samsung Infuse 4G smartphone runs the Android 2.2 Froyo OS, so we’re not sure whether the Canadian version will run the same.

Are you thinking about buying the Samsung Infuse 4G?

One of the first things that people possibly think about after purchasing a brand new smartphone is what accessories they can buy. For example, they might want a car kit for when they are traveling, a charger to keep the handset powered or maybe even a stylish case to protect their new investment.

Brent Zaniewski over on the androidcentral.com website has taken a look at some of the accessories that are now available for the recently released and much-anticipated Android-based Samsung Infuse 4G smartphone, and has kindly provided a list of the most popular accessories including car chargers and cases.

There are quite a few cases available for the Samsung infuse 4G handset, but the most popular appear to be the Body Glove Flex Snap-on case, which features a hard plastic shell that’s covered in a glove material, the Overboard Waterproof case and the leather Smartphone Experts Side Case or SPE Top Case.

Meanwhile, if it’s a Bluetooth headset you’re looking to buy, then you might like the Jawbone ICON. The Jawbone ICON comes in a variety of colors and designs, and provides users with extreme comfort for extended usage and high quality call clarity. You also have the option of the Motorola S9-HD Bluetooth Stereo headphones.

You can see what other popular accessories are available for the Samsung Infuse 4G by visiting the androidcentral.com website. Have you just purchased the new smartphone?

Looking over our recent Samsung Infuse 4G review we can see that nothing was mentioned about the camera, so we thought we would rectify this. We already know that the handset is up for the task, but it seems that there is an issue with the software, which will affect the overall outcome of this Samsung Infuse 4G camera review.

AT&Ts latest Android addition seems to have the main three areas pinned down, large screen, powerful processor and a thinner body. To us it seems a shame that Samsung has worked so hard on these main areas, only to fall at the last hurdle. We already know that it has an 8-megapixel camera, but history tells us that it does not mean a thing. What you need is a good lens and the software to back it up.

IntoMobile has spent some time with the Infuse 4G and for the most part the camera performs very well, which you can clearly see from their test images. The colors look very good and seem to be able to cope with varying light conditions. It is not until you get to the software where you get to see that Samsung could have made a few improvements.

One of the main issues is how long it takes from activating the shutter until the photo being taken, the issue here is that you will not be able to take that all-important “Kodak Moment”. If you never take photos like this, then there is no issue here. However, how many times have you seen something funny or amazing and just wanted to take that spur-of-the-moment picture?

Do you think the camera delay is an issue for the Samsung Infuse 4G?

You may remember roughly a week ago we told you that the Samsung Infuse 4G was headed to AT&T on May 15th (four days ago) and costs $199.99 when you agree a two-year deal, well if you are still not convinced whether this is the right smartphone for you we have come across a review which might interest you.

If you head over to ChipChick you can see their fully detailed review for yourself, in our article we will summarize some of the main points raised.

Let’s start with its design and display, the Infuse 4G measures in at 5.2” x 2.8” x .35”, its large size is mainly due to its huge 4.5-inch display and ChipChick say that some people just won’t be able to get along with its huge dimensions, despite its size it weighs just 4.9oz and feels surprisingly solid considering it is 8.9mm thick. The material used is not perfect and tends to get greasy, therefore it may slip out of your hand if you are not careful.

As for the display we already mentioned its large size, now we can also tell you that it features a resolution of 480 x 800, perhaps Samsung could have pushed the boat out and improved on this, however it still produces rich, sharp, bright visuals with vivid colors and deep blacks.

In terms of software there are no real surprises, the large display allows Android 2.2′s on-screen keyboard to be easy to use (even if you have fat fingers), however it is a bit disappointing that it does not ship with Gingerbread. As you would expect the OS is masked by Samsung‘s TouchWiz UI.

Call quality and web surfing performance was great, because of its size you have to hold the handset in the correct position to ensure that your mouth and ear line-up to the mic and speaker respectively, as for web browsing you almost get a tablet-like experience due to its massive display and the 4G connectivity helps in this aspect to.

The Infuse 4G has a great 8 megapixel camera on the rear which takes great stills and videos, the flash might be a little too strong, but on the whole you get vivid sharp images and videos. The handset’s 1.2GHz processor helps in this aspect, in fact on the whole it performs well whilst still delivering a full day of moderate use from a single charge.

Check out the link in the second paragraph for the fully detailed review which features images along with sample videos and pictures, do you think a 4.5-inch display is too large for a smartphone?

We haven’t really heard much about the Samsung i997 Infuse 4G smartphone, since it was first unveiled at the CES 2011 event back in January. That is all about to change however, as both AT&T and Samsung have now confirmed a price and release date for the much-anticipated handset.

According to a recent article by Bonnie Cha at cnet.com, both AT&T and Samsung held a special event in New York today, in which they announced that the Samsung Infuse 4G handset would be going on sale as from May 15th, for $199.99 with a two-year agreement (no mail-in rebates).

As some of you may already know, the Samsung Infuse 4G is powered by a 1.2GHz processor and runs on the Android 2.2.1 operating system with the TouchWiz overlay. It boasts a 4.5-inch Super AMOLED Plus touchscreen display, which provides better contrast and outdoor visibility.

The Infuse 4G HSUPA-enabled smartphone also comes with 16GB internal memory, an 8-megapixel camera that is capable of recording 720 HD video and a 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera for making video calls. The phone also comes with a special edition of Angry Birds pre-installed.

AT&T is also offering the first 500,000 customers a $25 credit voucher, which they can then use with Samsung’s Media Hub video store. Are you thinking about buying a new smartphone? If you are, is the Samsung Infuse 4G a handset you’d consider?
