Samsung is not done trying to fulfill all gaps in the tablet market, because they know they will need to offer an alternative to those looking to get the iPad 5 and the iPad mini 2 later this year. It’s for this reason why Samsung looks set to release the Galaxy Tab 3 8.0, which will put it right in the middle of both Apple tablets.

While Samsung has yet to make an official announcement in regards to the Galaxy Tab 3 8.0, there has been some sort of confirmation on Samsung’s website, as they posted details of letter codes of what looks to be future devices from the South Korean consumer electronics maker.

If we are to believe this rumors from SamMobile, then the launch window for the Galaxy Tab 3 8.0 will be June 10-16 for the WiFi only version, and July 1-7 for the WiFi/3G model. Again, this is currently just a rumor, but it’s the best we’ve had yet.

From what we can make out the color will be white, so do not comment on the image above, as it’s not from the new tablet.

We are still a little confused as to why Samsung needs to bring out an 8-inch Galaxy Tab 3, as they already have the Note 8.0? Let’s say the rumors above are true, then will Samsung give the Tab 3 8.0 better specs compared to the Note 8.0, considering they know Apple will be launching the iPad 5 and the iPad mini 2 later this year? Although it does look as though Samsung’s new tablets will be budget models, considering the storage capacity will only be 16GB.

Those recent rumors regarding the a new 7-inch tablet from Samsung looks as though they could be true because a Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 GLBenchmark has appeared and confirms the existence of the smaller tablet, which is said to be a direct rival for the Nexus 7. We’ve already seen the new Tab 3 showing itself off for the world, but it still hasn’t been officially confirmed.

The model number is the Samsung GT-P3200 and looks more likely to be a 7-inch tablet, although there are suggestions that it could be 8-inch also. Looking at the benchmark results we can tell what the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 will/could be.

From the leaked news we have learned that Samsung’s next Tab 3 could come with a processor clocked between 200-1,500Mhz, although we assume that it would be nearer the higher figure. There could also be a Mali-400MP GPU and a screen resolution of 1280×800. So far that’s all we can make out, but we are sure that the new tablet will be headed to MWC later this month.

We have to wonder if this is the real deal because Samsung had already said that they had scrapped plans for a 7-inch version of their Tab and would concentrate on the 10.1-inch version instead, which we have to say is conflicting when you consider the other reports from above.

Earlier on this week we have been speaking about the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0, an 8-inch upcoming tablet from Samsung that has now been confirmed for an unveil at MWC 2013 in February. There are rumors of a $400 price tag attached to the product which is very expensive in our eyes, but now there is additional speculation that Samsung are also planning to drop a 7-inch Galaxy Tab 3 for a crazy price that could undercut the Google Nexus 7 and end their period of dominance in the 7-8 inch range.

It’s no secret that Google stole the hearts of many consumers when they decided to price their Nexus 7 at the more than reasonable $199 mark. That move took a slice out of Amazon’s Kindle Fire success pie and now we’re hearing that Samsung may be preparing to go in for the kill and pull the exact same tactics on Google.

An article by Taiwanese publication Digitimes reveals that the Galaxy Tab 3 7-inch is just one of the tablets of a confirmed three that Samsung will be releasing in 2013. The 8-inch has already been revealed and confirmed by Samsung as the 8.0 Note, leaving the last device as a 10.1-inch tablet which will either belong to the Tab 3 family as well, or be an upgrade to the Note 10.1.

Hardware specifications of the Tab 3 7-inch are not known yet, but the price is thought to be coming in at the $150 mark, which would basically send an shockwave throughout the mobile industry. We didn’t think that the price could go any lower at $199 for a tablet with the latest hardware specs included, so can Samsung really pull it off?

To do it, they would obviously need to back up the $150 price tag with hardware specs that are at least in line with what Google offers with the Nexus 7. That includes essentials such as a quad-core processor, at least 1GB of RAM and suitable storage capability at 16GB or 32GB.

These are very thin rumors at the moment, and Digitimes are not always correct with their assumptions. In theory though, what would you make of a $150 Galaxy Tab from Samsung? Would you be on board from day one?
