There’s no doubt that the most popular Android smartphone this year has been the Samsung Galaxy S3, although the demand for Google’s Nexus 4 has been unprecedented over the last month, so could we have a better choice found in the Nexus 4 vs. Galaxy S3? Within the last couple of days LG has explained why there are Nexus 4 stock shortages, which couldn’t be more obvious considering the smartphones popularity and problems keeping the device in stock on the Google play store. LG simply state that the demand had been too much, and far more than they expected, which is resulting in issues with keeping the Nexus 4 in stock at retailers.

Nexus 4 vs. Galaxy S3 in visual review – today we wanted to compare the flagship Samsung smartphone with the insanely popular Nexus 4, and see how both these Android phones compare for those of our readers not sure which to choose. We’ve embedded a few video reviews below this article that compare the Nexus 4 vs. Galaxy S3, although each review offers a different perspective that might help undecided buyers come to a decision. These visual reviews will also give you a much closer look at the hardware and Android software running on each device.

The first video is the longest and runs for just under 33 minutes. You’ll see the Samsung Galaxy S3 and LG Nexus 4 side-by-side, and the reviewer focuses on certain specs by comparing each device for that feature. They also point out pros and cons for the Nexus 4 vs. Galaxy S3, and this includes the fact that Nexus devices tend to get Android updates first and the benefits of TouchWiz on Samsung’s smartphone. If you want to understand most of the features on both the Galaxy S3 and Nexus 4, then this video will certainly deliver with a little insight into almost everything.

You’ll see the Nexus 4 vs. Galaxy S3 in a second and third video below as well, which we wanted to include so you get to hear more hands-on insight from a different perspective. The second review runs for almost 14 minutes, and the third for just under 8 minutes (this reviewer also explains the comparison could be seen as (Jelly Bean 4.1 vs. Jelly Bean 4.2). Both detail the main features and explain how the smartphones compare in their opinion. In the last video you can see a UK network speed test for the LG Nexus 4 vs. Samsung Galaxy S3, which gives you a little insight into how both devices compare for cellular speed in the UK on 3. You can also see the Nexus 4 vs. iPhone 5 in a specs visual here.

If you had to choose, would it be LG’s Nexus 4 or Samsung’s Galaxy S3? Take a look at the video reviews below and share your thoughts in the comments.

The Samsung Galaxy S3 mini has a price and size aimed at a different type of user, especially when compared to the full size model, so today we thought a look at the Galaxy S3 mini UI and HD recording in a visual review would help some of our undecided readers. The first video below this article delivers a brief look at the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean UI running on the smaller version of the S3, although we’ve also included a video showing a 720p video sample that demonstrates the recording ability of this smartphone.

You’ll notice that most of the cool Samsung Galaxy S3 features are onboard the mini, and the first video showcases a few of these along with different voice control options. Direct Call and Smart Alert are a couple of our favorite Samsung UI features, and these are quickly shown in the first video as well. Towards the end of this video it explains about the video capture limitations on the Galaxy S3 mini, which include the lack of 1080P support and other video files like DivX.

Samsung’s Galaxy S3 mini might not support 1080P video, but the 720P still looks OK and this can be seen in the second video below this article. The short 30-second visual gives you a taste of what to expect when capturing video on the Galaxy S3 mini, although reactions to this demonstration have not been positive from users. Some people feel it is “poor quality” when compared to similar priced smartphones, but we’ll let you decide that one in the comments.

Would you purchase the Samsung Galaxy S3 mini, and what do you think about its video recording abilities? We’ve also included a third and fourth video below as well, which both give the Galaxy S3 mini a review and look at the main specs, so take a look at these and share your thoughts on the smaller version of Samsung’s flagship smartphone. We’ve also heard a little about the Samsung Galaxy S4 in-dev hardware and possibility of a flexi screen over the past few weeks, although the popularity expected for Samsung’s Galaxy S4 and problems with mass producing flexible displays make this very unlikely.

If there are two products in focus for this holiday season it’s the Samsung Galaxy S3 and the brands LED TV range, which both are making a splash with Cyber Monday deals for 2012. We can understand the interest in Samsung LED TVs and we’ve performed a number of tests with these TVs over the years. Our previous reviews of the Samsung LED HDTV range shows they’re one of the best in the marketplace, so consumers will obviously be looking at the Cyber Monday sales for these televisions and also the extremely popular Samsung Galaxy S3 smartphone.

On the official Samsung website they’ve been promoting some products that are on offer until the end of today, Cyber Monday 2012, and these deals include some of the latest Samsung LED HDTVs. You can visit the page with a list of TVs on offer here, which includes a number of LED TVs from the 5000, 6000, and 7000 Series. Some Cyber Monday deals are better than others, although Samsung are promoting some products with more than half their price being cut.

The Samsung Galaxy S3 launched earlier on this year but has gone on to sell more than 30m units, although there are plenty of consumers without this smartphone. Considering Android Jelly Bean is finally on most handsets it might be time to upgrade to the Samsung Galaxy S3, and Cyber Monday has a few sales for this device with Amazon leading the way, see here, from just under $60 on Verizon Wireless. If you want to consider other smartphones on Verizon then you can head directly to their official website here, which features a special page setup for Verizon’s Cyber Monday deals with the Droid Razr at the top. This phone is currently selling for free.

Have you spotted any other Samsung Galaxy S3 sales during Cyber Monday that you want to share, if so hit the comments and let others know? If you want to see how the Galaxy S3 stacks up against the HTC Droid DNA, then see our article from earlier today that features a video comparison. You can also see our article from earlier that reveals the Nexus 7 tablet being promoted at a discounted price today as well.

There will always be a certain feature that is the dealbreaker when looking for a new smartphone, and in this case the Verizon HTC Droid DNA vs. Samsung Galaxy S3 is being shown in a video review that runs for just under 8-minutes, which both devices contain the Verizon logo in the video, so it will be the features you need to look at if the carrier has already been decided.

The reviewer points out they’ve already compared the HTC Droid DNA to the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 and LG Optimus G, which both of those videos can be seen below the first video review. Each of these visual reviews delivers some insight that is to the point, and they run for just long enough to gain a nice close up with the main specs analyzed. We mentioned above the first video runs for just under 8-minutes, but it is worth noting the HTC Droid DNA vs. Samsung Galaxy Note 2 runs for almost 11-minutes, and the LG Optimus G hand-on runs for just over 8-minutes.

Each of these visual reviews is performed by the same reviewer, Michael Fisher, and takes a look at the US edition of the HTC Droid DNA. The last two videos not only look at the smartphones mentioned and compare them to the main Droid DNA specs, but they also look at a few key areas different to the first video, which is why the latest review runs for a shorter period. The first video below will focus on the Droid DNA build, display, camera, and benchmark results. It is fair to say each of the reviews compare the smartphones in the same manner, which you’d love or hate, so take a look and let us know what you think in the comments.

How do you think the HTC Droid DNA compares to the Samsung Galaxy S3 / Note 2, and LG Optimus G? You can also see the Nexus 4 vs. Droid DNA in a specs comparison here. It is worth pointing out that some people won’t like the idea of the HTC Droid DNA vs. Samsung Galaxy S3, as seen in the first video, which is due to the fact that one of these smartphones is much newer with a better display and more powerful processor, and would be better suited to a comparison with the Samsung Galaxy S4 when it arrives. It is also good to remember that the Galaxy S3 features a removable battery and less square design that some people will prefer.

There is a misconception when it comes to the materials used for the Samsung Galaxy S3 vs. iPhone 5, and while the Apple phones certainly use materials that cost more to manufacture it would be wrong to think they are better quality in a traditional manner. This is especially the case when you hear certain reviewers claiming the Samsung Galaxy S3 is cheaply made, and while it’s made from Polycarbonate, there’s nothing cheap about the design strength and reasons behind using this material. When we first held the Galaxy S3 the experience hadn’t been what we were used to, which is thanks to a few years of using metal smartphones, but after using the iPhone 5 since launch and every generation of Apple phone it’s starting to become clear why Samsung use a form of plastic.

Samsung Galaxy S3 vs. iPhone 5 is about polycarbonate vs. aluminium - there are pros and cons to both these materials, but the first benefit for Samsung is that it helps the company create a smartphone that costs less or at least lets them add more expensive hardware to deliver better specs. We’d like to point out that we own and use the iPhone 5, but feel the need to point out problems with the current design, which might handle knocks a lot better but certainly shows scratches easier. Our Black and Slate model has started to show the silver aluminium under the top coat, and while it doesn’t bother us a lot it will make some users unhappy.

You can see a photo above that shows you what we mean about the silver aluminium showing through if you don’t use a case from day one, although it is worth pointing out that this problem mostly affects the Black and Slate iPhone 5. Apple didn’t make changes to the iPhone 5 easily, they really wanted to make a few changes that kept what users loved about the iPhone 4S but also created something much thinner with better specs.

Apple’s official iPhone 5 Trailer can be seen below this article and it explains why they made certain design changes, although the scratches do seem like a problem Apple never expected with the iPhone 5 and could also be a reason why polycarbonate is a better material to build smartphones with. If you jump to 4 minutes and 50 seconds you’ll see Apple explain the creation process, which includes some nice images showing how the iPhone 5 is made with production starting with the machined aluminium. It is true that most products can scratch and we’re sure our readers will have different opinions on how easy the iPhone 5 can scratch, which is exactly why cases are available to purchase in the first place.

The polycarbonate Samsung Galaxy S3 not plastic – when you look at how the Galaxy S3 is made it is also pretty impressive, and while the materials used are cheaper in cost it shouldn’t be confused with “cheaply made“. Samsung has previously confirmed that the three layer polycarbonate chassis is much more advanced than some plastics used in other smartphones, and you’ll find polycarbonate on the battery cover, which is why some people don’t like the feel when compared to the iPhone 5 aluminium design. The bottom-line when it comes to the polycarbonate is that you’d find it much more scratch resistance, although you’d either love or hate the way it feels in your hand.

What do you think of the Samsung Galaxy S3 vs. iPhone 5 by the materials used? Do you have a preference over aluminium and polycarbonate, especially after reading the above and watching the video below? Most of us don’t like to hide the design of a smartphone thanks to this being one of the reasons we choose a certain phone in the first place, but we highly recommend a case with the Black and Slate iPhone 5. You might want to read about the Samsung Galaxy S3 vs. iPhone 5 by how flexible the batteries are in this article.

There are a number of ways to test different smartphones but for us one of the most important factors is battery life, and with the Samsung Galaxy S3 vs. iPhone 5 you’ll notice a slight difference. Technology is moving on extremely fast and over the last couple of years we’ve seen memory, processors, and screen clarity receive major enhancements with the battery life only slightly improving. If you want to see how the Samsung Galaxy S3 vs. Apple iPhone 5 compare on a specs level, then see our previous article that lists just that, but on this page you’ll see a little more insight into how the batteries perform.

Battery life is the weak link – both the iPhone 5 and Galaxy S3 are technological masterpieces, and they’ve set new records for both Samsung and Apple, but the battery life is certainly one of the less favorable features for both smartphones. You can look at different tips for improving the battery in iOS 6 and Android Jelly Bean, but your best efforts will be lucky to see more than a day in real world tests. You’ll find a larger battery on the Galaxy S3, but both devices drain at similar times.

You can see how the Samsung Galaxy S3 stacks up against the iPhone 5 for battery life in the image below, which also reveals times for the HTC One X, and iPhone 4S. Laptop Mag had run this test and they state that the iPhone 5 has the best battery life at 7 hours and 13 minutes, which had been while continuously browsing the web over Wi-Fi. Second place went to the Samsung Galaxy S3 at 6 minutes and 55 seconds, so as you can see there’s practically nothing in it.

How much do you care about battery life when looking for a new smartphone? The iPhone 5 is pretty impressive considering the battery capacity of 1440 mAh, which is a lot less than the Galaxy S3 but lasts slightly longer, although if you were looking for a smartphone that has an amazing battery then we’d recommend the Droid RAZR Maxx. This handset delivers around 8.5 hours of battery life in the same tests. It is true that when most people look at a new smartphone it will be a brand they trust that comes first, then they’d focus on the operating system and specs of that device, so when it comes to the Samsung Galaxy S3 vs. iPhone 5, which do you prefer and why?

When the ability to jump between apps landed on the iPhone it had been met with rejoice, although some teething problems were experienced with memory, but now it seems that Android users are enjoying the larger Samsung Galaxy Note 2 with multiple app windows, so that you can have more than one application running at once. This allows the user to have two apps side-by-side, which is perfect when you have a massive 5.5-inch screen to work on, although the same feature is heading towards the Samsung Galaxy S3 with a Jelly Bean update.

You can count this as one of the more solid rumors, which we first heard about towards the end of last month, and now we have an image below that shows how multi windows would look on the Samsung Galaxy S3. Nothing has been officially confirmed at the time of writing, but we are to believe this Galaxy Note 2 ability would arrive on the Galaxy S3 after Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean is installed. You can see a much bigger image that is more than 1,200 pixels wide here on TGSpot, although it is the same as the picture below.

Samsung Galaxy Note 2 multitasking – if you don’t own the 5.5-inch smartphone and want to know a little more about multitasking on the Galaxy Note 2, and how good it is to have multi windows on such a big display, then you can see a video below this article that officially demonstrates how it works. We totally understand why this is a good feature on a 5.5-inch display, but we wonder if it would perform as well on a smaller screen as on the Galaxy S3? It is also worth repeating that currently this is a rumored feature for Samsung Galaxy S3 after a future Jelly Bean update, and not officially confirmed just yet.

If you own the Samsung Galaxy S3, would you like to have multiple windows like on the Galaxy Note 2? The bigger handset is certainly the perfect mix of a tablet and smartphone, so this is why it’s so popular and becoming a real substitute for other gadgets, which is also helped by the multiple carriers understanding the popularity of such a device after the success of the original version last year. If you’re a Galaxy Note 2 owner, then you might want to see some of the diverse cases on offer in our earlier article from today.

It is that time of year again when we are just days away from a new Droid smartphone announcement. The elusive Droid DNA is going to be unveiled at an official event very soon and before that happens, we have a brief comparison for you to take a look at, which compares how the Droid DNA specs lines up against the might of the Samsung Galaxy S3 – one of the best Android handsets available right now.

With exception to perhaps the Galaxy Note 2, the Galaxy S3 is probably the best Android phone available at the moment. Samsung are in the midst of bringing the Jelly Bean update to all carrier versions at the moment, although it has to be said that there is still no sign of Jelly Bean appearing on the Verizon Galaxy S3.

The Droid DNA on the other hand is rumored to ship with Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean right out of the box, so that is one problem solved for most of you already if you are starting to grow tired with the Jelly Bean waiting game with your current handset. As we told you in a previous article, the Droid DNA is scheduled for an announcement on November 13. If the device specifications line up with a similar model in Japan that launched recently, fans could be in for a treat indeed and the Galaxy S3 on Verizon could be dropped in an instant.

[The J Butterfly, the Japanese version of the Droid DNA]

There is a growing sense of feeling at the moment of the bigger display, the better amongst consumers. While the Galaxy S3 features a lovely 4.8-inch AMOLED screen, we’re hearing that HTC is going to outdo Samsung with a 5-inch 1080p based display for the Droid DNA.

This could be a familiar story with other areas of the device as well, in the camera department for example, as the Droid DNA is rumored to be shipping with a whopping 12MP rear sensor, backed up by a 2MP front camera – easily eclipsing the cameras fitted on the Galaxy S3 which are an 8MP rear and 1.9MP front respectively.

The Droid DNA is going to be rocking the latest Snapdragon processor as well, with a rumored 1.5Ghz quad-core Snapdragon S4 Pro chip taking on the Exynos 4412 quad-core chip fitted inside the Galaxy S3. The Droid DNA may even eclipse the Galaxy S3 in the RAM department as well, with a rumored 1.5GB of RAM compared to the 1GB that is seen inside the Galaxy S3 – it is worth pointing out that the HTC J Butterfly, the Japanese variant of the DNA has 2GB of RAM, so we’ll have to wait and see if it matches up on November 13.

As we look down the other specifics between the two devices, we definitely feel that the Droid DNA has more than enough features to be a worthy contender to the Galaxy S3′s throne. Jelly Bean out of the box is a massive bonus of course, while music lovers will still be glad to hear that the Beats Audio features remain exclusive to HTC handsets and will be featured on the Droid DNA.

We have just a few days until the big announcement, but are you already thinking that the DNA is going to be something special? We said a few days ago that the Droid DNA is looking like the HTC Incredible on steroids. Are you now starting to believe this as well?

The rollout of Android Jelly Bean for the Samsung Galaxy S3 in the US has been anything but plain sailing. Many Sprint customers already have the update while some still do not, Verizon customers are still bewildered as to when their update will be coming and so far, there has been no hints of a potential release for AT&T customers either.

Meanwhile in Europe and other parts of the world, other Galaxy S3 users are already enjoying the fruits of Jelly Bean and have been for a number of weeks now. We see the same update roller coaster in the US with every single Android update and we are wondering when future software updates will occur universally, as a law – not when carriers feel like it.

It’s been well documented that a bulk of Sprint customers already have the Jelly Bean update on the Galaxy S3. However, we still continue to receive feedback, complaining that the update is not out for everyone yet – with the words ‘gradual rollout’ really starting to take on a whole meaning.

Today, we bring new rumors and hope to AT&T users, as we may see a Jelly Bean update for the AT&T Galaxy S3 sometime next week – if the infamous ‘anonymous tip’ from GottabeMobile is to be believed. AT&T will not want to be last to the party with the Jelly Bean update (Verizon will probably have that honor), so perhaps we will finally see some movement next week after all.

Then again, you will know too well not to take Jelly Bean update rumors to heart, as they often change numerous times, with carriers loving to delay updates time and time again. Is the continued delays really acceptable though, considering you were under the assumption when you purchased your device that swift official updates would happen shortly after release?

If you are a Galaxy S3 owner on AT&T, let us know your thoughts on the agonizing wait for Jelly Bean. Are you prepared to wait as long as possible, or have you already started to experiment with custom software out of sheer frustration?

Now that we’ve moved into November it looks like analysts are looking at stats again for the most popular smartphones, and in the UK it seems that the Samsung Galaxy S3 has proven itself again and kept the top position for half a year. You can track the UK’s most popular smartphones each month directly on the uSwitch website, which revealed the iPhone 5 gained three places in the UK last month but failed to knock the Galaxy S3 from the top spot.

The stats are said to take a number of figures into account, which include pay monthly sales, pre-orders, and also live searches. You can see the uSwitch mobile tracker on this page, although a drop down box allows you to see data for the last year. It will be interesting to see what smartphones win the UK battle through the shopping season, although there are a number of factors that will likely help create a few surprises. This includes new Nokia and HTC Windows Phone 8 devices, and the launch of the UK’s first 4G network from Everything Everywhere.

Samsung Galaxy S3 vs. iPhone 5 in the UK by stats – looking at the data on the uSwitch mobile tracker we can see that Samsung’s 16GB Blue Galaxy S3 currently holds the top spot with the 16GB Black iPhone 5 taking second place, although the previous month saw the same Galaxy S3 device keep the number one place with the iPhone 5 in 3rd position. It is worth noting that Apple’s 6th generation iPhone only launched in September, so it will be an interesting battle for the number one spot over Christmas.

Samsung’s most successful Android device to date is the Galaxy S3 and while these stats arguably show the most popular UK mobile phone right now, it shouldn’t be used as a factor for the most suitable smartphone for your situation. Every user has different needs and if you’re trying to decide between the Samsung Galaxy S3 vs. iPhone 5, you might need to see a few video reviews and other insight before making a choice. It is also a good idea to get hands-on at your local retailer as well.

The image below is Samsung’s take on the difference between both devices, and this Samsung advertisement wanted the Galaxy S3 vs. iPhone 5 specs to do the talking rather than persuasive videos. You can see a couple of video reviews in our earlier article, or see the iPhone 5 vs. Galaxy S3 video below this article that runs for just over 11 minutes and has had almost 1 million views.

Samsung Galaxy S3 vs. iPhone 5, would public popularity influence your choice? Has this been an easy decision for you, and if so let us know why in the comments?
