Earlier today we told you all about the recently announced Samsung Galaxy S Advance and how it sits somewhere between the Galaxy S and SII in terms of technical specifications, now we can confirm that this exciting-sounding smartphone will be getting a Three UK release.

Currently no pricing or release date information has been revealed by the UK’s fastest growing mobile network, but as the Galaxy S Advance boasts comparably inferior specifications to the SII it is safe to say that Three will sell you it for less than its big brother. The SII currently sells for £429.99 outright or for free if you agree a 24-month contract costing you at least £30 per month – so it looks like the Galaxy S Advance should undercut this and become a good option in the mid to high-end market.

When compared side-by-side with the SII the S Advance is pretty similar, it boasts a 4-inch curved AMOLED display, a 5 megapixel rear-facing camera and a dual-core 1GHz processor. This is by no means on par with the SII’s 4.3-inch flat display, 8 megapixel rear-facing camera and dual-core 1.2GHz processor, but still pretty impressive none-the-less. Perhaps the lower-end hardware will help deliver longer battery life than the SII, this is one area where last year’s top-end Samsung smartphone was criticized.

If Three price the Samsung Galaxy S Advance correctly it could be a huge hit in the UK this year, but currently there’s nothing more to tell you. When we hear more we will keep you posted, below we have embedded Three’s video where we get a sneak peak at the shiny new device.

Bearing in mind the SII prices, how much would you pay for the Galaxy S Advance in 2012? We think £400 outright or free as part of a 24-month contract costing £25 per month could be tempting…

All the speculation about new Samsung smartphones in recent weeks has been about the Galaxy S3, and when it may be first revealed. It is thought it may have even shown up on the company’s own website recently. Today we have news of the Galaxy S Advance GT-i9070 that seemingly slips between the S and S2 smartphones.

This new device has recently emerged with some images and the video you can see below, and brings another device to the I9000 Galaxy S range that started a couple of years back. The upcoming handset has the GT-I9070 model number and according to GSM Arena comes packing a dual-core 1GHz processor.

It has 4-inch Super AMOLED slightly curved display with WVGA resolution, similar to the Galaxy Nexus with a 3.5mm audio input at the bottom. Camera wise it has a five megapixel shooter that is capable of 720p video capture, while the battery is a 1500 mAh unit.

The Samsung Galaxy S Advance will come running Android 2.3.6 Gingerbread straight out of the box, but considering it has a dual-core power plant an ICS upgrade should be on the cards at some point. It is believed unlike the Galaxy S III the Advance should be revealed at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona in February.

Samsung has recently reported massive profits that have been led by its smartphone range as the company continues to provide a major threat to Apple’s crown. Do you have a Samsung smartphone?
