After informing you about a new Gingerbread update for the HTC Droid Incredible just a few days ago, it now looks like the Samsung Fascinate is getting in on the act too. Unlike the Incredible though which was updated to 2.3.4, Verizon’s Samsung Galaxy S will get a boost right up to 2.3.5.

Android 2.3.5 is the latest version of Gingerbread to date if you didn’t know, and this will probably be seen as a further kick in the teeth for Droid Incredible owners as they continue to report problems after installing the older 2.3.4 build on their device.

As for the Fascinate though, the update isn’t available to download right now. Instead the new 2.3.5 version is apparently in the final stages of testing, with Verizon expected to release it as build EH03 according to a screenshot obtained by Droid-Life.

There’s no word on an exact date for this update going live, but we understand that it could be a case of ‘any day now’ which is obviously great news for fans who are still rocking their original Samsung Galaxy S. It is rather refreshing to see that you are still getting the latest version of Gingerbread in the midst of other manufacturers – i.e HTC still unloading older versions to their customers. Obviously you won’t be getting Ice Cream Sandwich, but Android 2.3.5 for a handset as old as the Fascinate is still pretty good going in our eyes.

If your handset is rooted, there’s a good chance you already have the latest version of Gingerbread anyway, as thanks to places like the XDA-Developer Forums, the community will ensure that handsets have the latest features as soon as possible, even when manufacturers and carriers decide to become lazy.

Hopefully Droid Incredible users will get Android 2.3.5 at some point along the way too, but for now it looks like they may need to pull their 2.3.4 update again if the SD card problems continue. Do you still own a Fascinate? If so, give us your thoughts on this.
