Batman: Arkham City has been a massive success for Rocksteady Studios since it was first released back in October this year, today we can confirm the date that more downloadable-content will hit Xbox Live and the PlayStation network thanks to a recent tweet from the official Arkham City News Twitter feed.

You can see the tweet below, as you can see it does not state the name of the downloadable content or its price, however multiple sources have suggested that it will be called the Challenge map pack, or perhaps the Batcave Challenge map pack. One thing which is clear is that it will arrive on December 20th.

Brand new DLC coming December 20th with all new Batcave. Jokers carnival and the iceberg lounge also available to download then!

As you can probably tell details are extremely scarce at present, but it looks clear that this DLC will just bring new challenges to the game and no new storylines, this has infuriated some gamers so much that they set up a petition over at the Arkham City forums to urge Rocksteady Studios to bring story-based content to the game as Challenge maps are in their words “boring and repetitive” – do you agree?

If you look back at Batman: Arkham Asylum you will see that the DLC which was brought to this game consisted of new maps and map packs, we really think that gamers would happily spend more on DLC if it consisted of new stories to further enhance the game’s campaign, however some people say that such content would ruin the game’s ending.

Hopefully we will hear more about this challenge pack soon, when we do we will keep you posted so keep checking Product-Reviews.net for all of the latest news!

What sort of content would you like Rocksteady Studios bring to Arkham City?

By now many of you will have been enjoying gliding through the skies as the Dark Knight in the latest game, Batman: Arkham City, many of you except the PC gamers that is. This is because the release of the game on the PC has been delayed on more than one occasion. After being scheduled for a November 18th release, news that it is to be delayed once more has emerged.

The game was released on both the Xbox 360 and the PS3 consoles last month, at the time an exact release date for the PC version was still unclear. Now the publisher, Warner Bros. has come out and confirmed the different dates for different parts of the world, finally solving the PC release date riddle once and for all. We were able to find out the exact dates thanks to VG24/7.

North Americans will be the first to get the PC version of the game, which will be available on November 22nd. Those of you in the UK will have to wait a little while longer as it is not available here or in other counties in Europe until November 25th. The French get it a day earlier than the rest of Europe on November 24th and those in Australia can expect the game to be available November 23rd. Steam also confirmed that they would not have the PC version of the game available until November 22nd, backing up the new delays.

If you are still unsure whether or not you will be purchasing the game, on any platform, check out the news of the reviews we have brought you, they might just be enough to help you decide. What platform will you be getting the game on? If you have already played it what do you think of it?

Arkham City has finally arrived and many of you will have been enjoying roaming the streets of Gotham trying to contain the scum of the city by now. Having brought our readers news of an iPhone app which guides players through the riddles in the game, we now have news of a secret mystery room and instructions on how to access it.

During the build-up to the game the developers, Rocksteady Studios, did their best to keep things from getting out about the game that they didn’t want people to know just yet. That didn’t stop the likes of the character Nightwing being revealed before they intended. Aside from that the secrets remained pretty well kept. Now the game has been released the secrets are pouring out onto the internet.

According to GameFront, there is also a secret mystery broadcast that can be de-coded during the game using the Cryptographic Sequencer to locate them. There are several cryptic codes throughout the game but there are only three secret ones. These can be solved using a number to letter cipher to reveal messages from the certain characters in the game. We also previously brought you news of a guest appearance in the game which was also a secret. Kitana from Mortal Kombat appears as a detainee in one of the cells in the game. She has no name or identity but her attire and introduction from Penguin seem to suggest it is in fact her.

The secret mystery room can also be located using the cryptographic sequencer; however it must be upgraded with the TYGER codes installed. For a step by step guide on how to access the room click the link above. Have you discovered the secret mystery room? What other secrets have you discovered?

This fall is where all the action is expected to occur with the titles that are due to come out. Two of those hotly anticipated titles were released at the same time this week, but there was only ever going to be one outcome, as many predicted, Batman: Arkham City glides in at number one in the UK games chart, with the fourth biggest game release of the year, while Football Manager 2012 only manages third place.

This is the biggest launch ever for publisher Warner Bros. Interactive and to be amongst the biggest selling games of the year behind the likes of FIFA 12, L.A. Noire and Gears of War 3 is a great achievement for them. They also managed to double the amount of copies sold in the launch of their previous game, and former game of the year, Arkham Asylum which is very impressive.

According to Metro when it came to individual format sales the amount of copies of Arkham City sold was pretty evenly split between the Xbox 360 and the PS3. The multi-format chart saw FIFA 12 hold on to its number two spot, managing to shift 1,800 more copies then the debutant Football Manager 2012. The latter is only available on the PC which would have hindered the totals somewhat.

The rest of the chart was made up of Forza Motorsport 4 in fourth position, Just Dance 3 on the Wii in fifth, The Sims 3 Pets in sixth, then PES 2012, Rage, Zumba Fitness and Gears of War 3 making up the rest. There are several more highly anticipated titles due out this quarter making it fairly easy to predict which games are going to sell the most copies each week. Next week it is likely that we will see Battlefield 3 top the charts. What do you think of the charts this week? Were you surprised to see Batman: Arkham City take the number one spot?

For those of you in the U.S. you would have already discovered who has the cheapest price for Batman: Arkham City, which will be released tomorrow. However, for those in the UK, you still have up until the 21st of October to find the best deals. Well, we are happy to see that a price war has begun, which we have seen time and again for big game launches.

These online stores or supermarkets know just how tight things are for most of us, which is why they try their best to give us a great deal on such games. However, do not be fooled, the likes of Asda and Sainsbury’s just want you in their stores to try and entice you to spend a little extra. When you go to where they have these games on show, you can be sure that they will have other items surrounding them.

Geeks Have Landed have found five great deals for you, so it will be up to you which one you take up. The first is Grainger Games, and it will cost just £34.99. Game offers a trade-in for Forza 4 or Gears of War 3, if you take them up on this deal then you can get Batman: Arkham City, for just £4.99.

GameStation has two versions of the game, standard and the Robin edition; prices for these are £37.99 and £42.99 respectively. As for Sainsbury’s and Asda, they will be offering the new batman game for £37.99 and £34.97. It seems that the latter is the better deal all round, as not only are they cheaper, they will also be offing a DLC for a Year One Costume. Asda also had the best deal for FIFA 12 as well.

Have you found anywhere cheaper, if so please let us know?

For those of you anxiously waiting to get your hands on Catwoman as a playable character in Batman: Arkham City, then you might not be too impressed with what Rocksteady has done with her in the online pass, as she has been locked out. You can still play her, but you will have to pay for the privilege. Don’t think that this is just in the challenge maps; it’s also for the single-player campaign as well.

What we find shocking is that the developer has shown Catwoman as one of the main character’s, so to lock her away like that is not fair on those looking forward to seeing what they can do with her in the game. We all know her character; she is not one that should be sat on the sidelines, as she is important to the game.

Those who are unable to redeem the code to unlock the lady in the tight black outfit will be missing a fundamental part of the game, and for most gamers it just stinks. GamrFeed makes a point of noting that other games have now started to do this, such as Rage. It seems that they are now making this and DLCs a major part of their business to generate extra revenue.

There is one other aspect that has to be pointed out, say a gamer purchases the full version of the game, they will still not be able to play Catwoman if they do not have an Internet connection – yes there really are some who cannot get online for various reasons. It does seem that fans loyal to Rocksteady and the Batman game franchise are not being rewarded for their support. For those who want to get a taste of what the game looks like, then here is the first 15 minutes of gameplay.

Are you shocked that you have to pay for the privilege to play as Catwoman?

The release of Batman: Arkham City is almost upon us and with the date closing in, I’m betting a lot of fans will have already pre-ordered their copy and maybe will have been playing Arkham Asylum to get them in the mood. Marking the fact that the game is about to hit stores, a commercial has finally made its way online and it’s a hilarious one which features Batman wannabes.

In the build-up to Arkham City’s release, Rocksteady Studios has been extremely generous in sharing details about the game that fans have been dying to know. These have included introducing characters one at a time, details about the DLC packs and even allowing leaked gameplay footage. The game will release in just under a week’s time and now we are able to take a first look at the advert for it.

It stars two grown male gaming friends on the phone to each other arguing who, out of the two, is most like Batman whilst playing the game. It reminded me a lot of the ‘you know how I know you’re gay?’ scene in the movie 40 Year Old Virgin, in the way that the two of them are just constantly going at each other, trying to outdo one another and makes for some comical viewing. There is also one part in particular that is sure to have viewers in stitches; it might even remind you of yourself.

Hopefully I haven’t given too much away as we have embedded the video for the commercial below so you can see for yourself how funny it is. With the game due out next Tuesday, are you satisfied with the details that have been revealed about Arkham City so far? Do you think there will be anymore revelations from now until then?

A recent article we brought you revealed that there would be a fourth playable character to feature in the hotly anticipated title Batman: Arkham City, after a series of achievement trophies were leaked on the internet including a character named Nightwing, prior to an official announcement from the developers. Since then Rocksteady Studios has confirmed that character will indeed be appearing in the game and will be available as a DLC pack November 1st.

We also previously discovered news that two other DLC packs will become available after the game releases. These are the Robin DLC pack and the Batman alternate skins DLC pack. A lot of fans will find this news very exciting as both these DLC packs were only thought to be available if the game was pre-ordered from certain retailers. Now anyone can download the content, they just have to pay for it of course.

Both the Robin and the Nightwing DLC packs will cost $6.99. according to the Arkham City forum, the Nightwing pack comes complete with a bonus Animated Series Nightwing character skin as well as two additional challenge maps; Main Hall and Wayne Manor. The character will also be playable in the existing challenge maps and will possess his own unique moves and gadgets.

Batman: Arkham City will release in just under a week’s time, October 18th and is receiving some impressive review scores already. It is safe to say that we are very excited and can’t wait to play the game to see if it will be Game of the Year material like its predecessor. Let’s hope so.

What do you think of Nightwing? Will you be downloading the add-on? Which DLC are you most looking forward to? Feel free to share your thoughts.

By now many of our readers must be salivating at the thought that Batman: Arkham City’s release is just around the corner. We have been doing our utmost to bring news of the sequel as the developers, Rocksteady Studios, have teased it themselves. Having listed a long cast of characters that are set to appear in the game, we revealed that a couple of them would only be available through DLC and today we have a release date and a price for them.

Robin is one of the main characters from the comic books and is sure to be a kick-ass character to play as, however his role in Arkham City doesn’t appear to be an integral one as he is one of the characters that will have be purchased through DLC. We recently brought our readers footage of the Dark Knight’s companion in action and can now confirm that if you don’t get the Robin DLC through a pre-order then you can still snap it up later on November 22nd for just $6.99.

Another DLC that is set to be made available after the game’s release is the alternative Batman skins package. Until now it was thought that these alternate costumes would only be available through pre-ordering and depending on where the game was pre-ordered from determined what skin you would get. In a previous article we presented our readers with all six costumes that are available and while there is no confirmation that they will all be included in the DLC we believe the likelihood is it will. If you are interested it will cost just $4.99 and will be out December 6th.

Catwoman and Nightwing are two more characters that will also be available through DLS, however according to Myniritori Catwoman will only be available to those who buy the game new and no details have been revealed about the Nightwing DLC as of yet. Which DLC are you most looking forward to?

Just when you thought Rocksteady Studios had already revealed all the characters that are set to appear in their eagerly awaited game Batman: Arkham City, another villain pops up out of the blue. This time it comes unofficially with a sense of controversy as reports are suggesting footage of the new character, the Mad Hatter, made its way online before the developers intended and was soon after taken down.

Luckily for us a certain website, NeoGAF, was on the ball and they were able to get a screenshot fresh from the clip of the mind meddling character. Up until now Rocksteady had been somewhat methodical in unveiling details about their sequel. The latest character revelation came from a glimpse of new achievement trophies that hinted at Nightwing, which was later confirmed.

We’ve brought various articles to our readers detailing the new characters as they appeared and even brought you news of the many Arkham City themed items which have made their way onto the Xbox Live Marketplace. Today’s revelation is an interesting one however, largely due to the fact that the developers have not yet made an official announcement of the character.

The Mad Hatter character himself is just as intriguing. He is the skilled research scientist, Jervis Tetch, who was obsessed with the Lewis Carroll creation from the popular story of Alice in Wonderland as a child and grew up thinking he was him. He uses hypnosis and mind control to manipulate his victims. We are very excited to see what kind of spin Rocksteady have put on their version of the character and how much of a role he will play in the game.

Check out the image below for a sneaky peek at Arkham City’s mentally deranged Mad Hatter himself. What do you think of this character? How much of a role do you think he will have in the game?
