It’s fair to say that a lot of people are pumped up for the release of Grand Theft Auto 5. Rockstar has been silent on details, but clearly you lot are finding other ways to keep yourselves entertained.

If you are a regular Twitter user, you’ve probably noticed that there seems to be a rather healthy debate going right now as to what the Grand Theft Auto franchise has taught you. At the moment, there is a worldwide trend for #GrandTheftAutoTaughtMe and as you can imagine there are some very funny replies.

The franchise is obviously known for its high level of ‘acceptable’ violence and this is the influence which many of you remember for your key GTA memories. There are thousands of Tweets to pick out, ones which made us laugh out loud but here are a selection for you to read as an example.

From user Yours Truly: GTA has taught me ‘You can out run a police car on a bicycle if you keep tapping X fast enough’. From user Hayden Karnitz: GTA has taught me ‘Hookers can’t swim’. Here’s one more which is pretty hilarious: Tobes said: GTA has taught me: ‘There’s no need to buy a car, just drag someone out of theirs and it’s yours’.

Those are just a few, but you can read through the hundreds at the Twitter page here – a good sense of humor is needed though we must warn you. What memory from the GTA franchise sticks out for you the most? The guys in the Rockstar office must be loving this if they are following the trend too. Let’s hear some of your memories guys and girls.

A few days ago we brought you the news that Rockstar Games had promised to provide gamers with an update about Grand Theft Auto V in the coming months. Ever since the trailer was released last year solid details about the game have remained thin on the ground. Today we have news that a UK retailer seemingly reveals the GTA V release date.

Online UK retailer Zavvi has the game listed for a November 23 release date this year, but as Now Gamer are reporting the same retailer previously has the game down for a July 2012 release time frame. Before developer Take Two predicted it would have a record fiscal year for 2013, so this would probably mean that they would need to get the game out during the busy holiday season later this year.

With Max Payne 3 release recently being pushed back to May would mean at least a few months break between the two games. November 23rd falls on a Friday this year, which is a day that many big titles are released in the UK. Meanwhile in the US this normally happens on a Tuesday so could mean a possible November 27th release.

The supposed release date falls in the month that the next Call of Duty title will be released, but analyst Jesse Divnich of EEDAR feels that a GTA 5 release during that month won’t suffer because of it. Once Rockstar has Max Payne 3 out of the door we will hopefully get more information about GTA V, which could come at June’s E3 event.

It has to be remembered though that just because a retailer has a game listed with a date it doesn’t mean it is accurate. The retailer could just be guessing to get publicity and to increase preorders for the game. Take Two’s 2013 fiscal year covers September 2012 through to March 2013, so a November 2012 release date is feasible if the company expects to have a record year.

Do you think a November GTA 5 release is realistic?

There are many gamers looking forward to the release of the next Grand Theft Auto title, after some were left disappointed with the last installment. Earlier this month developer Take Two announced that the work on the game was going well without going into much detail. Now Rockstar Games has provided an update about GTA V news.

Previously the company had promised we would be hearing some information about the game this month, but now this doesn’t look the case. According to Now Gamer the company has said there will be more details of GTA 5 after they have released Max Payne 3.

Since the trailer was first teased last year any solid information about the title has been pretty much non-existent. Now Rockstar has said that will change “in a few months time”. The company was taking part in a question and answer session about Max Payne 3, but mentioned GTA 5.

They first thanked gamers for their response to the debut of the Grand Theft Auto V trailer, and confirmed they realize that there are many questions that fans want answered about the game, which include news about the GTA 5 release date among other things.

Rockstar continued by saying that they are currently working hard on the game and are looking forward to “show and tell you more as development progresses”. They said that in a few months time the game will be talked about a lot more and “please hang tight until then and thank you all for your patience and support”.

It seems like that Rockstar is looking to get Max Payne 3 launched and out of the way before GTA V comes along and takes the spotlight away from the game. Recently there were hints that Grand Theft Auto V could be released during Take Two’s 2013 fiscal year.

One game that will most certainly be on some gamers wish lists will be the next Grand Theft Auto title. Late last year we were treated to a trailer and pretty much nothing else to whet gamers appetite. Last month we were promised an update about the game at some point during February, and while we wait for that it seems that the GTA 5 development is going well with a Xmas release rumored.

Take Two boss, Strauss Zelnick, was recently talking during the company’s financial call, and according to a report on CVG he said the game “is making great process”. Unfortunately he didn’t go into more details about the game except that the game will “continue Rockstar’s incredible track record of delighting fans”.

Meanwhile a report over at MCV is saying that Take Two believes its 2013 fiscal year will be its best ever, which some believe means that Grand Theft Auto V could release at Christmas this year. The company did report a drop in profits for the third quarter of its financial year that ended on December 31st, but is certain that its next financial year that begins on April 1st, and ends on March 31st 2013 will be much better.

During its 2013 financial year the company has a number of big game releases on the cards, which includes the likes of Max Payne 3 this May, Spec Ops: The Line and XCOM: Enemy Unknown during the fall, and BioShock Infinite later in the year. Also during that timeframe of the 2013 fiscal year are Borderlands 2 and another XCOM title.

Which then brings us to GTA 5 the next title in the massive 100 million franchise, and even though its release date is still listed as TBC. Take Two’s confidence of a strong financial year means the game must surely be arriving during it, and given the stronger demand for games during the Christmas period a release then makes perfect sense.

Would you like to see GTA 5 next Christmas?

One game that will certainly cause a stir if it is released this year will be the new Grand Theft Auto title. Since the trailer was teased last November the rumor mill about the game has gone into over drive, with various release dates and features rumored. Some of this speculation may soon be put to bed as Rockstar Games promises some GTA 5 updates as soon as next month.

According to an article over at Gameranx a fan of the series from the GTA Forums got in touch with Rockstar. He sent the company an email asking about the upcoming game but didn’t expect to hear anything back. But surprisingly he received an email in reply that said to keep an eye on the Rockstar Newswire next month for news about Grand Theft Auto V.

The fan could have made the story up but it is probably unlikely so we could get to hear some solid details about the game in only a few weeks. There has been increased speculation recently that the game may not hit the shelves until next year.

This was heightened once the news came out that Max Payne 3 was pushed back to May, and it seems that Rockstar might wait until 2013 before the releasing the game. Others have hinted the game may be released during the busy holiday season and go up against the likes of the annual Call of Duty release.

While Rockstar may not provide an actual date for the game next month, they will hopefully give a rough timeframe for it. We could also get hear about the actual game details to whet the appetite even further.

What do you think Rockstar Games will reveal next month?

Recently we told you about rumors that were suggesting that the next Grand Theft Auto title won’t be releasing until next year. These claims were somewhat strengthened with yesterdays news that Max Payne 3 had been pushed back a couple of months. Now there is news that a GTA 5 2012 release is still a possibility.

Take-Two seems to like the month of May as two years ago the Red Dead Redemption release during that month saw some big sales. According to GameInformer in only a few weeks the game had shifted five million copies, and by the end of August had reached the eleven million mark, and meant that games can do well even when not released during the holiday season.

With Max Payne 3 being delayed to May means Take-Two is likely to report a loss for the fiscal year of 2012. It also may mean the company doesn’t have a lot of room for the release of GTA 5 this year. But Mike Hickey analyst at National Alliance Capital Markets believes the game could still see a release this year.

Hickey said it is highly unlikely that Rockstar Games will release both GTA 5 and Max Payne 3 during May. The analyst now expects GTA 5 to launch in the second half of the company’s 2013 fiscal year that covers September 2012 to March 2013.

Meanwhile Michael Pachter of Wedbush Morgan Securities believes the game will go up against this year’s big holiday releases, and feels the game “would benefit from giving Call of Duty some breathing room.”

Despite this Take-Two does like to release its big games in May, and could still mean the game being released next year. Do you hope GTA 5 releases this year?

One of this year’s biggest game launches will certainly be the next installment of the Grand Theft Auto franchise. Currently there is no concrete evidence when the game will be released, but it is not the only big game coming from Rockstar Games in 2012. Today we have news of disappointment as the Max Payne 3 release date slips back.

There will be many gamers looking forward to the game this year, but CVG are reporting that Rockstar’s parent company Take-Two, has revealed that the Max Payne 3 title has been pushed back two months. Instead of the expected release of March 2012, gamers will now have to wait until May.

The company has revealed the reasons behind their decision and said it is to “ensure that Max Payne 3 delivers the highest quality”. With this news of the game being pushed out of the financial quarter will now mean that Take-Two is expected to announce a loss for 2012.

The company added that it doesn’t make alterations to its release schedule easily, and the slight delay will make sure that the game offers “the highest quality, groundbreaking entertainment experience that is expected from our Company”.

CEO of Take-Two, Strauss Zelnick, said that the game is likely to be one of the developers “most exciting releases to date”, and feels gamers will be “amazed by Rockstar’s ability to take interactive entertainment to another level.”

With Max Payne being delayed it makes you wonder if the same may happen to GTA 5. Even though there has never been a date revealed by the company, some have suggested it could come in time for this year’s E3 event in June. Update: Max Payne 3′s new release dates have been revealed as May 15 in US, May 18 worldwide and for PC on May 29 in US and June 1 worldwide.

Are you disappointed with the delay to Max Payne 3?

2012 is set to bring a plethora of new and exciting games for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Halo 4 and The Last of Us are notable eye-raisers, but the upcoming Grand Theft Auto V game from Rockstar is the one game that can unite gamers, with universal anticipation awaiting its all-important launch date.

It is the launch date for the game that is getting everyone talking as well. After the recent teaser trailer that Rockstar revealed back in November, the main issue that fans were disappointed over, is that Rockstar failed to give an indication on when the game will release.

With the teaser trailer coming at the end of 2011, it is a natural assumption to believe that the game will release towards the end of 2012, but recent whispers online are suggesting that gamers may have to wait as along as 2013 to get their latest Grand Theft Auto fix. A release window is not official, which means that all kinds of speculation is brewing online on potential 2012 and 2013 release dates.

Retailers have been the primary cause for the confusion surrounding a launch date as if you have been checking out some premature listings for the game, you’ll see that 2013 could well be a possibility for when the game is coming out – an obvious disappointment for the millions of fans. One example can be seen over the German and Norwegian GameStop websites which both initially listed a 2013 release date for the game, as detailed in a forum post over at GTAForums. However, it seems that both listings have now been updated since there is no evidence of a 2013 release in sight.

The likes of Amazon though are listing a date happening in 2012, as are Tesco UK who have also put up a release date estimation of 2012. There is obvious a huge wave of expectation that GTA V should release in 2012, but do you possibly see an outcome where the game may release in 2013? Also, don’t rule out the possibility of a delay, as we have seen it time and time again that big name titles fail to release at the initial scheduled month, just look at Final Fantasy Versus XIII as a prime example. Then again, Rockstar are not Square-Enix are they?

Even though we could be months away from the release on the next installment of the Grand Theft Auto franchise, many gamers are already getting excited about the game. Trouble is since the trailer for the game was released last year we have not had much information to go on about the title. But today we can tell that the GTA 5 map is set to be huge in size according to Rockstar themselves.

While many think the game could be the biggest title available this year all we have had to go on so far was the original press release from Rockstar back in November. At the time it was promised that GTA 5 will be the most ambitious title from the franchise so far.

Now Gamer are reporting that GTA 5’s map size looks set to be much bigger than GTA 4’s Liberty City. This is because of a recent comment from RockStar’s Dan Houser while he was being interviewed about another upcoming Rockstar release, Max Payne 3.

He was asked if GTA 5 was to be set in San Andreas and he first replied that had to be really careful what he was about to say. He stuck to what has been already revealed in the original press release by saying it was set in Los Santos, but he also said it’s “a very big map”.

This is the first time that Rockstar Games has given any reference to the size of the map in the upcoming game. There still is a lot of speculation that the game could still see a release as early as May, but the smart money is on an October release.

Are you looking forward to GTA 5?

Following on from our earlier article about GTA V and Skyrim compared to annual releases, we now wanted to take a closer look at Call of Duty specifically vs. GTA V.

It is common knowledge within the gaming industry and community that Call of Duty is always the game to beat now, when it comes down to deciding which title manages to shift the most copies and take home the most money.

The last few Call of Duty games have stayed true to this fashion, and unsurprisingly Modern Warfare 3, the latest game in the franchise smashed records once again by setting a new entertainment record which also covers books and films, in 2011.

However, the mantle may not be with Activision for much longer according to one analyst, as he believes there is one title that has the ability to knock Call of Duty off their perch in 2012 and you can probably guess that the only contender to this is the upcoming Grand Theft Auto V game. As you know, Rockstar Games are preparing to unleash their next huge game in the immensely popular franchise, and Jesse Divnich, analyst with EEDAR has said that GTA 5 will go on and be the biggest seller in 2012.

Here’s a portion of his statement, which he gave in a recent interview with IndustryGamers:

”It goes without saying that GTA V will be one of the year’s biggest releases, but I will take it one step farther and say GTA V will be 2012′s biggest release. Don’t get me wrong, Call of Duty will undoubtedly be huge, as it is every year and it may even grow, but if I had to call what will be a photo finish race, I will go with GTA V.”

Details on the GTA V storyline are being shrouded in secrecy at the moment by Rockstar, as the company are unwilling to give out any additional details on the game, other than the great teaser trailer that they unveiled in November. Since then, fans have been going wild as to who will be returning for the game, and whether or not the likes of CJ, Tommy Vercetti or Claude will be coming back for the game.

GTA V will obviously be big, but big enough to knock a possible Treyarch or Sledgehammer Games designed Call of Duty game off the charts in 2012? We’re guessing that the next COD game will feature some sort of zombies element again and considering how successful Black Ops has become, it is still going to be a mighty task for Rockstar. We’ve said it before but there seems to be a growing trend in the industry now just to pick up Call of Duty games just because of the brand name – that’s how big it has become, which obviously doesn’t bode well for other developers trying to put their games in the shop window.

As for the next Call of Duty game though, we know there is definitely going to be a new game in 2012. There are rumors it will be called ‘Iron Wolf’, although this may just be a code name and could well end up as Black Ops 2 which would obviously be a logical step for Activision. As long as it includes some kind of zombies element as mentioned above though, this game will have no problem selling at all since many gamers will be thirsty for a fresh zombies fix after playing Modern Warfare 3 to death.

Do you think GTA V will outsell the next Call of Duty game or not?
