If you are one of those people who are constantly on Facebook at the same time as browsing the internet for more, lets say, real world activities such as online shopping, we may have a solution that for you that combines the two.

RockMelt is an entirely new browser that is built on the Facebook front end along with Google’s open source Chrome (or Chromium) web browser.

The browser is said to be as quick as Chrome but it does require you to log in to Facebook first so that it can validate all your data and integrate it into the browser. For the time being, RockMelt is invitation only, so good luck with getting a invite.

On first glance, the browser acts like any other browser –more specifically like Chrome. It has separate search and address fields, but it also harbours extra toolbars on either side of the browser. On the left hand side, you will see your Facebook friends icons and on the right you will be presented with your Twitter and RSS feeds.

The little icons let you interact with these specific friends, and shows you “what is on their mind,” as well as the ability to IM, chat and so on and so forth.

But being still in beta form, the Twitter side of things are not functional as of yet, plus there is one more social networking browser out there called Flock that you could try instead.

Being quite the social networking enthusiast I am, this is definitely worth having a look at, although I think the vast majority of you will just prefer sticking to switching tabs rather than having Facebook and Twitter permanently in your face at all times.

If you are interested in taking a look at RockMelt, check out their website here. You can look at an article where we stated our reasons for downloading the software, or you can also take part in a poll where we asked “Will you download RockMelt?”

What are your views on social networking browsers? Have you tried Flock or RockMelt yet?

A few days ago we asked you if you are interested in downloading the RockMelt beta, now we have come across an article which lists 10 reasons why you should perhaps check out the social-centric web browser.

Firstly RockMelt has experienced people behind it, such as Marc Andreesen who is the co-author of the Mosaic web browser and also the co-founder of Netscape Communications Corporation, with Mosaic and Netscape Navigator behind him he undoubtedly has great experience.

Other reasons to try RockMelt include the fact that it fully integrates Facebook and Twitter, it is cloud-based (meaning that you can access bookmarks and preferences wherever you are), there is great Google Search integration, the design is great, it is based on Chrominium, it tracks favorite web sites, less extensions are needed, there is less chance of clicking a dodgy link (as so many services are integrated) and finally it runs on both Mac OS X and Windows. If you would like to find out in depth reasons as to why you should try the RockMelt web browser check out the source link at the end of this post.

As you are probably aware RockMelt is currently an invite only beta, however if you check out their website you can find out how to get an invite.

Have you got RockMelt beta access? If so, are you impressed?

Today it seems as if people are finally realizing that using Microsoft Internet Explorer may not be the best way to browse the internet, at the moment it seems as Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Apple Safari and Opera are the most popular alternatives, however RockMelt’s developers are aiming to change this.

RockMelt is currently in its beta stages, it is invite only, therefore the general public can’t download it yet, however if you would like to try the beta check out the RockMelt homepage.

Most brands know they must integrate promotions with social media networks, and use this media to connect with the user. We all have certain web browsers will like more than others, and our choice will be due to specific features we like, but what about joining social media and web browsers to make connecting easier?

This is just what RockMelt had on their mind, and an article here on the official blog explains what the RockMelt beta browser can do for you. The tag line explains that the social browser is “designed around you” and hopes to bring a closer connection to browsing the web, and sharing information with friends.

RockMelt beta is said to be fast and secure, which is based on Google’s Chrome browser thanks to using the source code as RockMelt’s base. They are currently giving out invitations, although expect numbers to be limited on a first come basis, so get in early if you do not mind a few bugs along the way.

Read the full article to see how RockMelt is backed by the cloud, and gives you true personalization. Facebook and Twitter Friends will be just a click away in the new social browser. Have you had an invitation? Let us know your thoughts on their beta.
