The BlackBerry 10 Launch Event is to begin within the hour and as with events like Apple devices we’re hearing one or two rumors that could prove very interesting that might effect your buying decision. It’s almost certain that those of you in the UK will be able to get your hands on the black BlackBerry Z10 later today or tomorrow.

However, we have now learned that the white BlackBerry Z10 might be delayed by two weeks, which would mean that the release date would be February 15th, a day after Valentine’s Day. This news leaked via a company inventory system, and while some people would assume that this cannot be fact because of how basic the inventory system looks, most companies use very simple systems because what is the use of having a flash looking system when it is not needed?

We’re almost sure that many consumers and business users will wonder why they would want a white version of the Z10 because it’s considered more of a color for girls. However, we’re not too sure about that because the white iPhone 5 does seem to stand out much more than the black version, and we have seen countless men using them.

It will be interesting to see if RIM will stop at black and white versions of the BlackBerry Z10 or if this is the start of several other colors coming to the market in the not too distant future? One would presume that they are waiting to see the public reception for the Z10 before they commit to further colors.

Today is a huge day for RIM and their BlackBerry brand because it’s the BlackBerry 10 launch event a little later, and this new platform will show to the world just how well the company has been able to adapt in a world that is dominated by Android and iOS devices. As with all events like this there will be live coverage from a number of blogs as well as a live stream as well, which we’ll detail a little later. However, just make sure you are free today, Jan 30, 2013 at 10AM ET, 9AM CT, 7AM PT and 3PM GMT.

There have been several delays for the next generation of devices that will form part of the BlackBerry 10 platform, and we hope to see several devices later today that will make full use of BB10. Let’s hope that they get it right because many experts would tell you that RIM and their BlackBerry platform are on borrowed time, but would you agree with this assumption?

It’s almost a certainty that we’ll get to see the new BlackBerry Z10 smartphone, which could have Vodafone exclusivity in the UK. Two other devices that we hope to see are the X10 and BlackBerry London.

We’ve found four websites that will be blogging live from the event as well as RIM themselves who offers a Live Stream for those unable to attend the event. Ars Technica is one such blog, with Phone Arena, PC Pro and CNET News being the other three. Be sure to clear your calendar at the times we mentioned above and hope that the BlackBerry 10 Launch Event will deliver.

We are just hours away from RIM’s imminent BlackBerry 10 event and it’s fair to say that there is huge anticipation for what the company have to show to the world. We’re expecting to see a barrage of BB10 running smartphones, three of which should turn out to be the BlackBerry Z10, X10 and BlackBerry London.

We now have some very important information for those looking to pick one up right away in the UK. It looks like Vodafone may have some sort of exclusivity on the first rollout of BB10 handsets, as a document has leaked out ahead of the event suggesting that Vodafone plans to sell BlackBerry 10 phones at 5pm UK time on the same day as the event – January 30.

If you are a current Vodafone customer and are eligible for an upgrade at the moment, it looks like a fantastic opportunity for you to end up with a new BB10 phone by the end of the week. The memo obtained by TheVerge suggests that the black Z10 will be available first to customers, with the white Z10 revealed here, due to go on sale later in February.

It now looks like the Z10 is going to be the first handset that is available to customers, but hopefully it won’t be took long until the QWERTY based X10 is available as well. It’s great news for UK consumers of course, but we’re yet to hear solid release information on when BlackBerry 10 powered handsets will be available in the US.

When they finally do arrive, they should become available on all four major carriers in the US, so there should be no problems about stock availability which is good. Let us know if you are picking up the BlackBerry Z10 at launch and whether you think it could be one of the best handsets to release all year.

RIM’s Super Bowl XLVII ad to cost for BlackBerry 10 http://www.product-reviews.net/2013/01/28/rims-super-bowl-xlvii-ad-to-cost-for-blackberry-10/ http://www.product-reviews.net/2013/01/28/rims-super-bowl-xlvii-ad-to-cost-for-blackberry-10/#comments Mon, 28 Jan 2013 10:12:51 +0000 Peter Chubb http://www.product-reviews.net/?p=156958 RIM's Super Bowl XLVII ad to cost for BlackBerry 10With just three days left until RIM officially release their first BlackBerry 10 devices along with BB10 OS as well the company understand that they need to get creative in...]]> RIM's Super Bowl XLVII ad to cost for BlackBerry 10

With just three days left until RIM officially release their first BlackBerry 10 devices along with BB10 OS as well the company understand that they need to get creative in order to build up public awareness. As if by pure chance the Super Bowl is on in just over a weeks time and would be the perfect platform for RIM to show off their new products.

This is just what the Canadian company is doing says Engadget, but looking at the advertising fees the RIM Super Bowl XLVII will ad to the cost of BlackBerry 10 OS and BB10 handsets as well. The reason we say this is because the average cost of a 30 second commercial is around $4 million, which is one of the reasons why General Motors decided not to show any commercials during Super Bowl this year, although this has not stopped Toyota and Hyundai.

There’s always the fear that at the moment an ad is played viewers will choose this time to go for a bathroom break or head to the refrigerator for more refreshments. However, RIM has made certain that the commercial will air several times before and after the game, as well as a larger social presences on Facebook and Twitter.

Skeptics would argue that RIM cannot afford such an advertising campaign and this just adds to the cost of the new OS and handsets. However, RIM currently has no debt and we have all heard the saying that you have to speculate to accumulate. We do hope that BlackBerry 10 handsets and OS do very well.

Will RIM bash Apple in their Super Bowl Ad?
We say this because last year we saw an interesting Samsung commercial during the big sporting event where they went just a little over the top to prove their point, although cannot see RIM doing the same – but we do hope so.

Are you ready for one last BlackBerry Z10 leak before RIM’s highly anticipated event on January 30? We have seen so many BB10-related leaks in the past two weeks that it almost feels deliberate on RIM’s part. We’re not too bothered about it though as the new OS and supported devices are looking amazing. We now have confirmation that the BlackBerry Z10 will also be coming in a slick white version as well.

White versions of smartphones are still as popular as ever, and the industry probably has Apple to thank for popularizing it with the general consumer base. Since the days of the white iPhone 3GS, other manufacturers have since followed by including white versions of their devices as well.

RIM is no different it seems and will be giving users the option of a white color for the touchscreen-based and very impressive looking BlackBerry Z10. An image has leaked showing the white version of the device alongside its black counterpart and was originally uploaded to Instagram before swiftly being deleted.

To give you a recap of the specs we can expect to see, the Z10 is thought to include a 4.2-inch HD display, a 1800mAh battery, 2GB of RAM, an 8 megapixel camera with 1080p video recording and 16GB of storage which is expandable via MicroSD card. If you had to choose between a white BlackBerry Z10 or a black one, would you go with the white instead?

The back casing looks like its designed with some textured materials, so hopefully it won’t be too prone to getting dirty. We just have a few days left until the big reveal, so look forward to seeing the white Z10 revealed in an official capacity soon.

Today sees the release of BlackBerry Enterprise Service 10 and those who download the new software will finally be able to see what all the fuss is about. This new software has a host of new features, which will be ideal for those BlackBerry 10 devices, although you can only take advantage of them if you are an enterprise user.

RIM has spent a long time and effort on bringing this new service for BlackBerry 10, PlayBook and other BlackBerry mobile devices and they have used their decade worth of enterprise mobility management experience to get to where they are now. What is so special about this version is how cost-effective and reliable it is to you as a customer, which has to be two of the most important things.

With BlackBerry Enterprise Service 10, RIM states that users will be able to better serve their customers because the service gives those users a better understanding of their business, which in turn will give them far more confidence compared to what they would have without Enterprise Service 10.

There are several key features for those who will use the new service on BlackBerry 10 smartphones some of which include, personal apps, improved security, new App Store front for of BlackBerry Enterprise Service 10 users and so much more, which you can see in full on the RIM press webpage.

You can download a 60-day trail version of BlackBerry Enterprise Service 10 and below we have a video preparing you for what you are about to download.

We’ve heard a lot of feedback on BlackBerry 10 prior to RIM’s official unveiling on January 30. Most of it has been very positive, while others have said that RIM has basically copied iOS and Apple’s smartphone design. Regardless of which side you’re on, we have an excellent video to show you now, comparing the upcoming BlackBerry Z10 with the iPhone 5.

It’s not the first time that we have seen an early look at the BlackBerry Z10 on video. Last week, we showed you a 7 minute preview of a developer model running a beta version of BlackBerry 10, but now we’re pleased to say that we have a fresh look at the Z10 and how it fairs against the mighty iPhone 5, the device which everyone seems to be drawing comparisons on.

The first thing to note is the size of the device, as the BlackBerry Z10 is a little larger than the iPhone 5, although that’s mainly due to the fact that the iPhone 5 is a 4-inch device, while the Z10 has a 4.2-inch based display. Throughout the video you’ll see web browser tests between the two devices, and even a first glimpse at how the BlackBerry 10 voice assistant (yes there is one) performs against the Siri on iPhone 5.

Both devices are almost identical in thickness and BlackBerry fans will be pleased to hear that there is no locked battery on the Z10 either – a factor that will become important if fans want to swap out the 1800mAh battery for a better one. During the voice assistant test, you may be surprised to hear the author state that searches were more faster and accurate on the Z10 – impressive considering the device isn’t even out yet.

BlackBerry 10 is looking better every day we see it. Take a good look at the study below and let us know your thoughts on the Z10. Will RIM now become one of the dominant forces in the industry?

The countdown is on until RIM’s highly anticipated BlackBerry 10 unveil and there is a real sense of feeling that the company are going to be back better than ever with their new collection of smartphones powered by the new OS. We have been treating you to early leaks that have become available thanks to developer devices, and now we have a look at some of the excellent camera features that will be available to you once BB10 handsets are finally available to buy.

We’re really impressed with what we have seen from BlackBerry 10 so far. It’s fair to say that older versions of BlackBerry needed a makeover and we’ve heard nothing but positive feedback from those who have already managed to get an early preview of the software.

We’ve seen three handsets leaked so far, those being the BlackBerry London, BlackBerry X10 (QWERTY device) and also the BlackBerry Z10. The Z10, or Lisbon as its also been known as, is touchscreen-based along with the London and can been seen in detail here, thanks to an early video preview. It’s rumored to be heading to T-Mobile in March and will include decent specs such as a 4.2-inch display, NFC support, 8 megapixel camera and 2GB of RAM.

Social media is going to be a core feature of the new operating system and to give you an idea of how this will work with the BB10 camera application, we have a great video to show you which lets you see some of the in-depth filtering options available. It’s a definite thumbs up to the impact that Instagram has had on mobile users, as it looks like RIM wants to replicate that success with multiple filter options available built directly into their own application.

Watch the video to see how different effects can be applied with ease and we’re guessing there will be a variety of sharing options as well once you’re done editing. Don’t forget that this is a developer build you’re looking at here, both hardware and software – but it already looks very promising.

What are your thoughts on BlackBerry 10 picture filtering, Instagram style? We can’t wait for the big reveal on January 30 – stay tuned for further information throughout the week.

We recently informed you that all four major carriers in the US will be supporting the upcoming launch of BlackBerry 10, by releasing smartphones with the new operating system throughout the year. What hasn’t been revealed yet though is which BB10 handsets will be going to each respective carrier and indeed how long it will take for them to release.

The good news at the start of this week, is that it looks like T-Mobile may be one of the first carriers to release a BlackBerry 10 handset to consumers in the US. A leaked roadmap for the company has revealed a BlackBerry handset in the works called ‘Lisbon’ and that T-Mobile customers may be able to get their hands on it as early as March.

You may not be familiar with the Lisbon name, but you may have already heard whispers on a BlackBerry Z10 device. The two are thought to be the same thing and early spec rumors indicate that we could be looking at a touchscreen-based handset with a 1.5GHz dual-core processor, 2GB of RAM, an 8 megapixel rear camera, LTE connectivity and NFC support.

You can see a potential image of the device above and although we’ve heard plenty of feedback on how RIM has ‘copied’ Apple, we still think it looks very nice indeed and one potential handset that could kickstart RIM’s revival in 2013. The roadmap obtained by TmoNews indicates that the release date for the BlackBerry Lisbon will be March 27 and as far as we’re aware, it’s the first solid release date of any kind that we’ve had for a BlackBerry 10 smartphone.

Hopefully we’ll start to see similar news for Verizon, Sprint and AT&T based BB10 handsets, but don’t be surprised if we also see some exclusivity agreements develop with one specific carrier either. Based on that promotional image above from RapidBerry though, we are very optimistic that RIM will be a great competitor to future iOS and Android based products. We’ve heard nothing but positive news regarding BlackBerry 10 so let’s hope that the event on January 30 really delivers.

Are you planning to pick up a BlackBerry 10 handset in 2013? If so, will you pick up a touchscreen model or one with a physical QWERTY keyboard instead?

Are you starting to get excited about BlackBerry 10 yet? The OS is due to be formally unveiled at a press event on January 30, when we will finally see a glimpse of the first wave of smartphones that will feature the new operating system on board. There has been no sign of disinterest among consumers and now we’re pleased to say that all of the major carriers in the US have now given their backing to BlackBerry 10 as well.

That means that come January 30, RIM will take to the stage and show off a collection of devices – two of which we may have already heard about if they turn out to be the touchscreen based BlackBerry London, and also the QWERTY-based BlackBerry X10. All eyes will be on whether carriers will get each respective handset on an exclusive deal, or if all four carriers in the US will offer the handsets all at once.

T-Mobile, AT&T and Verizon have all recently confirmed that they’ll be supporting BlackBerry 10 upon launch and now we’ve heard that Sprint are also planning to join the BlackBerry 10 club as well. Considering that all four carriers mentioned have previously released BlackBerry devices in the past, it shouldn’t be too much of a surprise to see them all committed for the new revamp with BB10.

What handset will be released first? We hope it is the touchscreen model as that one looks far more luxurious than the QWERTY X10 we feel. Specifics are obviously still unknown at this point, but at least we don’t have long to wait until the event. Let us know your thoughts on RIM’s big event and if you see yourself dropping the likes of the iPhone and Samsung’s Galaxy phones to move over to a new BlackBerry 10 device.
