For those of you who are still undecided on whether or not to pick up the BlackBerry Playbook tablet next year, RIM and Adobe has released a new video, showing off the tablet in a live unseen stage demo.

As reported from Engadget, the 5-minute segment shows RIM co-CEO Mike Lazaridis and Adobe’s Kevin Lynch showing off some of the Playbook’s new features at Adobe MAX yesterday.

Engadget point out that the video seems to have been carefully edited, which may have removed some uncomfortable performance issues on the Playbook, but since the device isn’t due out until early next year, it gives RIM and their team plenty of time to fix it up ready for public release.

Following on from this demo release, a new report by the Financial Post has revealed that RIM’s shares have increased in the space of a few hours – you can read more on this in their article above.

What are your thoughts on the Playbook? Is it a day-one purchase for you, or are you still undecided? Video is below.

Following on from our report which gave you an estimation on what you might have to pay for the recently announced BlackBerry Playbook tablet, we now want to know what you, as a consumer are ‘willing’ to pay for it.

I think the old saying ‘the latest technology comes at a price’ applies with the Playbook and it is looking likely that customers will have to pay a considerable amount more than the iPad to pick one up.

We told you yesteday how the Playbook may be priced at $1000 or even higher, but can you really afford these kinds of prices? The average consumers cannot, and while the Playbook is equipped with some very impressive hardware specs, it may have to be priced evenly if RIM’s sale targets are going to be met month on month.

In comparison to other devices on the market, the Apple iPad starts off at $499 for the 16GB WiFi model, and goes all the way up to $829 for the 64GB WiFi + 3G model. The Samsung Galaxy Tab prices have still not been officially confirmed, but reports are suggesting that it will come in at a starting price of $300 to 400.

Will the BlackBerry Playbook be priced similar to the iPad and Samsung Galaxy Tab? Or will it be the considered the premium tablet on the market with a $1000 price point.

Let us know your thoughts on this, and what amount you would be willing to pay.

To coincide with the official announcement of the RIM BlackBerry Playbook Tablet, the company has also launched the official website too. It has some great high quality photos of the device, as well as a complete breakdown of specifications.

We gave you an initial list of specs for the Playbook the moment it was announced at DevCon 2010, but if you proceed to the official BlackBerry website, you’ll be able to view a complete breakdown of specs in a nice flash user interface.

RIM claims that the Playbook is ‘Ultra-portable’ and ‘Super Convenient’, while they also reserve another special mention for the speedy dual-core 1GHz processor.

The website also lists a few details on how you can combine the PlayBook with your current BlackBerry smartphone, for features like Messenger, Email and Push Technology.

It is also interesting how they make note of ‘true multitasking’ support, maybe this is a slight dig at Apple’s iOS devices which only allowed for one application to be opened at a time.

Enjoy the photos below and head to the official website for the specs. You’ll find details on pricing here.

We have reported on the key features of the BlackBerry PlayBook tablet, but one thing that wasn’t mentioned at the BlackBerry developer Conference was price. We have an article now, which suggests that RIM’s latest device won’t come cheap.

The article in question comes from Zdnet, who have stated that the BlackBerry Playbook may come in at $1000 or even higher. This may seem slightly outrageous to the average consumer, but don’t forget that the PlayBook features some specs which are not available in the market at the moment.

An example of this has to be the surprise inclusion of a dual-core CPU, consisting of two 1GHz ARM Cortex A9 processors. This is a first for the tablet world, although this is expected to become more mainstream during the middle of 2011, according to Zdnet.

If you were thinking that the price would come in alongside the iPad to compete, think again. The Playbook comes with 2 HD cameras: a 5MP on the back, and a 3MP on the front with both having support for 1080p Video Recording – In a word, impressive.

The spec-heavy PlayBook warrants a much higher price than the iPad, so don’t be too surprised when RIM slap a $1000-1300 price tag on their new device.

What are your pricing expectations for the BlackBerry PlayBook?

We have some good news for those of you looking for more gossip on the recently announced BlackBerry PlayBook tablet, as we have some live photos and a video of the device for you to take a look at.

As reported from Engadget, the exclusive media was taken by the tech site live at the event itself. Sadly, there are no proper hands-on photos at the moment, since RIM decided to keep their PlayBook tablet behind a glass display for the being.

However, the pictures they did manage to take are pretty good, and very exciting if you are currently in the hunt for a tablet device. The PlayBook won’t be out until Q1 2011, but judging by the specs we told you about here, it looks like it could be a real contender to take the iPad’s crown.

They also managed to capture a quick video as well, you can see it below. The pictures are available over at Engadget.

Following on from our report which put the recently announced BlackBerry Playbook up against the mighty Apple iPad, we want to know just how many of you have already decided to buy one.

If you didn’t know yet, RIM’s BlackBerry Playbook will be available in the early part of 2011 and will come equipped with a brand new operating system not seen on any of RIM’s current smartphones.

Key specs include a 7-inch multitouch display, dual-core 1Ghz processors, 1080p HD video recording, 5MP and 3MP front and back cameras, 1GB of RAM and HDMI output. Full spec details can be seen in our previous report here.

It is worth noting that RIM are calling it the ‘fastest tablet’ ever with the inclusion of the dual core processors, so we’ll be very interested to put that claim to the test at a later point.

The new tablet will also come with Flash 10.1 and HTML 5 support, so RIM has really gone for some high-level specs with their first tablet outing. We don’t think there will be too many of you disappointed that it won’t run on BlackBerry OS 6, since their brand new OS looks fantastic, it comes with multitasking too by the way.

Now that you have had a few hours to gather your thoughts on RIM’s recently announced BlackBerry Playbook tablet, what are your initial impressions of it? On a design point of view, do you think it looks better than the iPad?

Unfortunately, RIM didn’t allow anyone to actually touch the device, as it was concealed behind reinforced glass the the BlackBerry Developer Conference.

However, we still managed to get a good look at the device, and it is confirmed to have a 7-inch 1024 x 600 capacitive touch screen, compared to the iPad’s 10-inch 1024×728 display screen.

Luckily for you, Engadget has offered some event photos, comparing size differences on the Playbook and the iPad. As you can see from the one below, the iPad is significantly larger than the PlayBook, but RIM’s tablet does seem to have that sexier look to it.

Does size or style matter to you the most? If it is style, then you would have to say the Playbook looks better. Take a look at Engadget’s pictures here and let us know your thoughts on them.
