Just under a month ago we offered spec details for Verizon’s upcoming Pantech Breakout, which is their fifth LTE handset. You have to worry that Long Term Evolution has not had the affect that carriers had hoped, because just 5 handsets is not a true test to see how well the service holds up. Anyway, back to the mater at hand, there has now been a full review of the Breakout, which looks at all the aspects of the phone, but it is the performance and the battery that is of most interest to you and I.

Pantech has distanced themselves from the likes of Motorola and Samsung, as they have an LTE device that will not break the bank. Their devices would normally cost around $250 to $300 on contract, but the Breakout will shock you with its $100 price tag. As we explained before the specs are predictable, but what would you expect for the price?

The 1GHz single-core processor is not going to set benchmark test alight, but when you consider that is the same as what the iPhone 4 has, it doesn’t seem that bad after all. Engadget has spent sometime with the Breakout, and they say that you should not try to overwhelm it with too many games that demand a lot from the GPU. If you do choose these types of apps, then we are afraid that you will begin to experience some lag.

As for battery performance, this is where things go a little wrong, as the 1,500mAh battery is just not up to the task. If you have no desire to constantly play games or watch videos, then you should not have any fear of it draining before the day is out. We fear that phone technology is moving at a much faster rate than battery technology, there is so much potential, but none of them are come to fruition yet.

Pantech has done a great job with the Breakout, as it gives those on a limited budget a chance to get on the LTE ladder, the question is will you tack the leap?

Today sees the release of RAGE, and while yesterday we were waiting for reviews to start appearing, we can finally say that they have now started to appear online. We have noticed that the review ratings for the game is mixed, as one will say that it is stunning while another would argue that it is confusing. One thing we do know, id Software has done all they can to start a new franchise up, let’s hope that they’ve not wasted their time?

Joystiq gets right down to it when saying that RAGE is a little confusing, as it is not an RPG, even though Id says that it kind of is. We do like the story behind the game, where the main character falls unconscious when an asteroid hits, and wakes up 106 years later to a very different world. The scenes in which you have to walk around look huge and impressive, but it is not until you get close that things begin to go bad.

RAGE is more of a novelty, as things start of well, but it does not take long before it all gets a bit tiresome. Id could be in trouble here, it just doesn’t deliver, which is bad when there are a few big titles coming to market in the coming months.

You would have thought that IGN had been playing a completely different game, as they believe that it is “visually stunning.” They say that the new Tech 5 engine used has set new standards in the industry, as it is fast, smooth and has great animation. While Joystiq only gave RAGE 3 stars out of five, IGN has given the game a total of 8.5 out of 10. What could shock you the most is the fact that they have given the graphics a 10 out of 10.

GameSpot explains that RAGE has some compelling characters, along with a superb range of weapons. However, this is let down by a few issues, such as a weak story, and the fact that you have to manually save your progress. It’s for these reasons that they have only given RAGE an 8 out of 10. See how the Xbox 360 and PS 3 versions compare against each other.

Have you managed to play RAGE, if so what is your verdict?

Earlier today we showed you a video that saw an interview with Tim Willits at an event in London; the topic up for discussion was Rage and the expectations of reviews that are about to hit the web. Our expectations are high considering what we’ve heard so far, including good graphics in a large open world with vehicles, although the 20 hours of gameplay may be a little short. Most of the feedback we’ve had from the previews seen so far point to gamers expecting really high scores for Rage.

Following on from this article we wanted to show you a quick Rage review that compares the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions, which is done by showing you HD screenshots in an interactive way. You can see screens in the double figures via this article here on Lens of Truth, and by sliding the mouse over the images you get to see differences between PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

We should see the full detailed Rage reviews hitting tomorrow because this is the U.S. release date, although Europe is expected to get the game 3 days later. There will also be an Apple iOS version of the game, but this will not use the new id Tech 5 game engine technology as in the PS3 and Xbox 360 games.

You’ll not find a much better screenshot comparison than found on Lens of Truth, these guys really give you a sleek interface to use with clear images. So with that in mind, which version do you think looks better, Xbox 360 or PS3?

Update: One of the first detailed Rage reviews has just gone live on Game Reactor.

If you have played Doodle God – 15 million people have – then the new Doodle Devil will be a must for you, which was released within the last 3 weeks, and priced at just $0.99.

While the first game had you using the four basic elements to create a Universe, now – in Doodle Devil – you can destroy everything with the seven deadly sins, which reminds me of creating a sand castle at the beach, only to destroy it before you go. You can read a complete Doodle Devil walkthrough on gamezebo.com, and also see how to create all 107 elements.

The app supports iPod touch, iPad and iPhone. The official trailer for Doodle Devil can be seen below this post, have a watch and let us know what you think. The app can be downloaded via iTunes here, and features hundreds of quotes and sayings, and impressive one-click gameplay.

It’s worth reading this Doodle Devil review here, which shows that “more of the same” can be a good thing. The reviewer found that new users would find more content in the previous game (Doodle God) for the same price, although this may be too much for the same players. Read the review, view the walkthrough or trailer below, and please leave a comment to tell us what you think after giving the game a go.
