Resident Evil 5 was a massive step in the right-direction for the franchise when it was released for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC back in 2009, now we can confirm that Capcom is releasing Resident Evil 6 this year and we have the reveal trailer for you to check out.

Currently Capcom has set November 20, 2012, as the game’s global release date for Xbox 360 and PS3, a PC release is also expected at a later date, but currently we have no further indication as to when it will arrive – hopefully 2012, but nothing’s guaranteed.

At the bottom of this page we have embedded the game’s first-ever trailer, as soon as it starts you are reminded of the atmospheric feel which the Resident Evil series is known for, the dramatic soundtrack helps build the tension and the heavy breathing coming from Leon S. Kennedy’s mouth also adds to this, you then hear a public figure talking about bio-organic weapons being a global threat. Later on in the trailer you get to see that the president is infected and Leon battling it out with 90% of the population of Tall Oaks who are also infected, once again the game adopts the third-person perspective and we see glimpses of some very formidable enemies.

The gameplay graphics look great, but the cinematics aren’t quite as impressive, rather than describe everything we have seen in the video we recommend that you scroll down the page a little and check it out for yourself. Whilst Leon battles it out in Tall Oaks it looks like you will also play as Chris Redfield as he takes on zombies in China.

Capcom has stated that more videos will arrive in the coming months, hopefully this will give us a better glimpse of the weaponry at your disposal, the multiplayer aspects of the game and different characters you will be able to play as – we will keep you posted as we see and hear more.

Will you buy Resident Evil 6 based on the impressive trailer below? This could be the last Resident Evil game on current-gen consoles, so we doubt you will want to miss out!

Fans of the zombie infested horror games from the Resident Evil series will be delighted with the news we have today. If the announcement of the next title, Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City, wasn’t enough, Capcom has just confirmed the game’s US arrival date for the Xbox 360 and the PS3.

We first brought you news of the game when it was officially announced back in March and was thought to be arriving at the end of the year, then in August details suggesting that the game could spell distater for the franchise emerged. Now we can confirm that the game won’t arrive until March 20th next year. Along with the release date confirmation, comes details of special edition and extra content versions of the game which will be available when it is pre-ordered from certain stores.

According to The Sixth Axis the participating retailers that have been revealed so far are Best Buy, Amazon and GameStop. When the game is pre-ordered from any of these stores two additional weapons unique to each store as well as six extra costumes for the playable characters will be received. The special edition version of the game will feature eight bonus weapons, a Spec Ops Field Unit embroidered patch, an Umbrella Security Service embroidered patch, a stylized foil sleeve and a steelbook cover with exclusive boxart.

Other details on the game remain scarce at the moment but screenshots are thought to be on the way soon. Capcom have also announced that they will be bringing updated versions of the Nintendo Wii games Resident Evil Darkside Chronicles and Umbrella Chronicles to the PS3. No dates have been revealed as of yet. What do you think of the details about the new Resident Evil games that have been revealed so far?

As you may already be aware, two franchise-favorites in the Resident Evil series are being ported to the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 that comes with extra content, trophies, achievements and also added HD rendering.

We first heard about this news when it was leaked details in an issue of the Japanese video gaming magazine Famitsu, now we have heard more from Capcom’s Resident Evil panel during Comic-con, here they revealed that two new HD ports of Resident Evil 4 and Resident Evil Code: Veronica were in the process of being developed, and will come to us in the form of digital downloads via Xbox Live and the Playstation Network.

No word yet on the price for either of these games, but we are told by Capcom to expect “budget pricing,” which can only be good news for fans of the Resident Evil series, especially those who enjoyed Resident Evil 4 and Code Veronica respectively.

So when will you be able to get your blood soaked hands on these titles? Well, we are told that Resident Evil 4 will be released on September 20, whilst Code Veronica will be released a full week later on September 27. Not long to wait now.

Although information is rather scarce at the moment, we know that both titles are part of the Resident Evil: Revival Selection. Code Veronica is said to feature extra cut scenes that never made to the final cut in the Dreamcast version that was released 11 years ago in the year 2000.

One hindrance that could be a factor in these remakes could be that it was not very successful when Code Veronica X was ported to the GameCube in 2003 after originally being released for the Dreamcast. The port boasted updated and new cut scenes, with some graphics changes also thrown in for good measure.

Unfortunately, this did not work out well for Capcom as the game was highly unchanged and unaltered which resulted in unfavourable reviews from select websites on the internet, including that of X-Play who only rated the port 1/5.

The original Dreamcast version on the other hand faired unbelievably well, and was generally well received by the gaming community. IGN, GameSpot and GamePro all rated the game in the higher 9′s (out of 10) and 4′s (out of 5). Code Veronica went on to sell nearly 3 million copies worldwide.

Resident Evil 4, when first released in 2005 also made it big in review scores. Fairing much better than Code Veronica, the GameCube version managed stellar reviews as well as PlayStation 2, Nintendo Wii, and Microsoft Windows versions.

How do you feel about Resident Evil 4 and Code Veronica being re-released and remastered in HD for the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360? Will you be purchasing?

Capcom’s Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D – known as Biohazard: The Mercenaries 3D in Japan – has probably been one of the most anticipated games for the Nintendo 3DS and now that it’s finally been released, we’re wondering whether it was worth all the hype. The third-person shooter has received mixed reviews from critics, with many stating the same thing – that the game unfortunately lacks content.

Dan Whitehead from eurogamer.net gave Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D an overall rating of 7/10, describing it as a solid and often satisfying action game with simple controls. However, Dan also notes that the stages do start to feel repetitive quite quickly, and all the characters are exactly how you find them. In other words, they have no hidden depths or evolutionary abilities for players to discover.

Another point Dan makes is that the visuals can sometimes get a bit laggy when playing online. Meanwhile, Nick Chester from destructoid.com rated the game a little lower with a 6/10 score. The Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D game has a total of eight playable characters, with each character having his or her own scoreboard and weapons. It also comes with a number of unlockable extras and an achievement system.

One thing that disappointed Nick was the fact that only around 12 of the game’s 20 missions are playable in the duo mode. The guys over at nowgamer.com gave the game an overall rating of 7.6 out of 10. This review notes that although the game is relatively short (all missions can be unlocked in just 6 hours), the addictive nature of the game’s leaderboards will keep pulling you back to play it again.

Nowgamer.com says that although the lack of content is rather frustrating, the addictive nature of the hi-score tables and the excellent combat mechanics does give the game a surprising amount of replay value. Audrey Drake from IGN on the other hand gave the game 6.5/10. Drake says that while the graphics in Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D are great, the game does suffer from a few frame rate issues.

However, Drake did go on to state that despite the considerable flaws it has, the Mercenaries 3D game is a ton of fun. The big point that this reviewer made is the fact that the game doesn’t justify the $40 price tag. As for Jamin Smith from videogamer.com, he gave the game a score of 6/10. Jamin says that although the game has plenty of unlockables and is graphically pleasant, it unfortunately doesn’t feel like a ‘proper’ game.

Back in September last year we brought you the very first details for the much-anticipated Nintendo 3DS title, Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D. All we knew at the time, was that the game would be arriving sometime in 2011. Since then we’ve seen a trailer, but no confirmed release date.

That is until now anyway!! According to Audrey Drake over on the ign.com website, Capcom has just revealed a release date for the Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D title, and we can now tell you that RE fans can expect the upcoming game to arrive on June 28th.

A release date wasn’t the only thing that the developer recently revealed either, as they also confirmed that Rebecca Chambers would be a playable character in the game. Chambers – who first appeared in the original Resident Evil – was last playable in the mercenaries mode of RE5: Gold Edition.

In Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D, Chambers will be joining characters such as Claire Redfield, Jill Valentine, Chris Redfield, Krauser, Hunk and Albert Wesker. Mercenaries 3D will include the ability to shoot while moving, as well as both characters and locations from previous titles.

Will you be buying the Resident Evil: The Mercenaries game?

We have some good news for Resident Evil fans now, as we have the first proper trailer for Capcom’s newest entry in their Resident Evil franchise. The game is called Operation Raccoon City and it will be out on Xbox 360 ,PS3 and PC this Winter.

Previously, you only had a teaser trailer to get excited about, but Capcom has now released a much more detailed and longer trailer, as part of their Captivate 2011 event, in which they also gave major new details for Street Fighter X Tekken.

As for Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City, we now know more details about the two main teams which will do battle against each other. They are, Umbrella’s USS Delta Team with members Vector, Spectre, Beltway and Bertha going up against US Spec Ops team, with Leon Kennedy on the opposite team this time around.

In the midst of that, players will have to contend with dealing with zombies and also B.O.W’s – Bio Organic Weapons, or big nasty mothers as we like to call them. The third-person gameplay certainly looks like a major shakeup from what we’re used to seeing from previous Resident Evil games.

Watch the trailer below and let us know your thoughts on it. Are you excited about playing the bad guys in Operation Raccoon City or not?

Earlier on we showed you the very first teaser trailer for Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City after the game was officially unveiled earlier on this week. After having watched it, do you agree that Capcom seem to be going down the ‘Left 4 Dead’ route with this game?

If you missed the trailer, check it out again below for a refresh. While we don’t get any clear cut gameplay, we do get snippets of cut-scenes, and the angles and content seem to suggest that this game will be a straight up zombie shooter surival game, just like Left 4 Dead.

Rather than playing from a first-person perspective, it looks to a third-person style game and if it turns out that the gameplay is indeed similar to Left 4 Dead – would you still buy it or not? Left 4 Dead is a great game of course, but there will be a fair amount of you who believe Capcom shouldn’t go down this route with the famous Resident Evil franchise.

However, after Resident Evil 5, we wouldn’t mind a drastic shake up in gameplay to keep things fresh and since four man co-op has already been confirmed, we don’t really mind how they play this one out. Having said that, if Valve go ahead and announce Left 4 Dead 3 at E3 2011 in June, things could get a lot more tasty between the two franchises.

Have a look at the trailer for yourself and let us know your thoughts on it.

We announced here that CapCom’s next release in the Resident Evil series would be Operation Raccoon City now CapCom has released the game’s debut trailer video. The trailer scrolls through various scenarios of landscapes filled with zombies and gunfire while backed to a euphoric track which doesn’t exactly put the fear factor into the video to say the least.

The video displays lots of gore and zombies eating people, dead or otherwise, which is what you could expect from any resident evil game. The video does not give a lot away in terms of gameplay or features in this game, it is mainly a way to create hype for the release date (which was mentioned in this post).

As the release date gets closer we may see more videos from the game which give more away about the features and gameplay, however for now we are left with what we assume will be a very common scene in this game, zombies! Views on the video are mixed as some are excited to go back to Raccoon City and some say it is not the same game anymore.

Either way, we can only say that the video (shown below) does not give alot a way at this early stage. We can only say that we will bet keeping an eye out for more information to unfold from the developers.

Check out the trailer below, are you impressed?

We have more details on Capcom’s huge announcement about a brand new game called Resident Evil: Operation Racoon City that is on the way. We now have the entire magazine scans for you to check out, from which the game was first leaked online.

Those scans come from the Official PlayStation France Magazine, and we’re pleased to say that fr.ultimate-re.com have uploaded each page for you to enjoy. We won’t upload the scans here just in case Capcom don’t like it, but you can check them out here and click on each image to enlarge so you can see the first images for yourself.

On first glances, we have to say that the graphics don’t appear to be up to next gen standard, as they look more PSP-ish to us, although this may be a very early build of the game, so we’re definitely not criticising just yet – the game is due on Xbox 360 and PC as well just to let you know.

Take a look at the scans for yourself through the link and let us know what you think. Do you have anything to say on the quality of these graphics, or is it too early to say until we get some proper high resolution images? We’ll inform you when we hear more.

We have some exciting news for Resident Evil fans now, as Capcom has just confirmed that a new game is on the way . It’s called Resident Evil: Raccoon City and we have release date information for you and a confirmed list of platforms that the game will be on.

We previously hinted about the new game in a previous report here, which then tagged the game as Operation Raccoon City, due to a prior leak from a magazine. We also told you that the game would be coming to the Xbox 360 and PS3, but we can now confirm that the game will be coming to the PC as well, and it will drop Operation from the title.

Capcom has said that the game will be out during the Winter period, so it will either be out during December, or the early part of 2012, obviously fans will be hoping it’s out at the end of this year, what a nice Christmas present that would be.

In Raccoon City, you’ll take the role of a Umbrella Security Services member, either playing on your own or as part of a four person co-op team. You’ll visit familiar Raccoon City locations from both Resident Evil 2 and RE: 3, and one character that has already been confirmed to be returning for the game is Leon Kennedy, as reported from VG247.

What are your expectations on this new game? After having played Resident Evil 5, is there anything different you want to see in terms of gameplay? Should they keep to the same formula, or introduce something completely new? Obviously they are going with the co-op flavor again after seeing how well RE:5 faired, which isn’t a bad thing since the last game was pretty good we thought.

Are you looking forward to this ‘team-based’ Resident Evil title or not folks?

UPDATE: Forget what we said about the game dropping Operation from the title. New intel has just confirmed that the game will indeed be titled Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City and it’s still due out this Winter. Glad that’s cleared up.
