The fallout from the recent unveiling of Resident Evil Revelations HD doesn’t appear to be slowing down anytime soon. To recap, Capcom announced Xbox 360, PC, Wii U and PS3 versions of the 3DS original, failing to include the PS Vita in their platform lineup. Capcom took to the PS Blog to highlight the PS3 news, but the subject was quickly changed to fans venting their anger over a lack of a handheld version.

Capcom has attempted to issue a reason as to why the PS Vita isn’t getting a version of Resident Evil Revelation and along with that, the system is yet to see a Resident Evil game of any kind so far. However, fans are not really impressed with Capcom’s explanation and here it is in full as taken from the PS Blog comment section.

Mike Lunn is the project manager for Capcom, and when directly asked why the PS Vita is being left out of the party, here is what he had to say in reply:

“When we were developing Revelations for new platforms we really wanted to hone in on the experience you get with a large format screen, surround sound, etc. This type of setup really helps players get sucked into the horror vibe and enjoy the game to its fullest extent.”

The problem here is that many gamers do not play with surround sound as a mandatory setup. TV speakers are still widely used for many gamers, making his reason about surround sound a little dubious. Large format screen has been picked upon again, since the game originally came to the 3.5-inch 3DS and wouldn’t take any quality away from if the game was ported to the 5-inch OLED Vita screen.

The real reason behind the snub, could lie in the fact that Capcom believes that the PS Vita is a sinking ship and doesn’t want to take the chance or effort to bring Resident Evil, or Monster Hunter 4 for that matter, to the Vita. Of course he was never going to say that on the official PS Blog though was he?

We’ve now read feedback that many users plan to buy a used company of Revelations, just to get their point across that they’ve made the wrong move in ignoring the Vita. What are your thoughts on this latest setback for Capcom? Would it have been such a difficult task to include the Vita in their Revelation revamp or not?

Another new Resident Evil game is on the way to console, but it isn’t Resident Evil 7 just yet. Capcom has decided to re-release Resident Evil Revelations on console and PC, the game that was originally a title for the Nintendo 3DS. Aside from the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions of the game, Resident Evil Revelations will also be coming out on Wii U, but there has already been disappointment from fans who are angry that the PS Vita has been ignored – again.

As it stands, there is yet to be an exclusive Resident Evil game for the PS Vita and the fact that Revelations is now coming out on every other platform except the Vita, is going to surely cast Capcom in a bad light until they improve the situation.

Don’t forget this is coming on top of the infamous and ongoing Monster Hunter snub, with the developer choosing to release all new Monster Hunter games on the Wii U and Nintendo 3DS only, with the PS Vita yet to get a taste. The console version of Revelations is going to be more than just an HD port, with new content promised, new difficulty levels and even Hunk as a playable character in Raid mode – Resident Evil’s answer to the endless horde gameplay type.

The good thing to note is that a release date for the game has already been established. Revelations is due for a simultaneous platform release on May 21 in the US and May 24 for those in Europe. To celebrate the news of the game, Capcom has also released an announcement trailer, which you’ll find below.

We just hope that Capcom are saving a PS Vita announcement until E3, as it’s clear that Resident Evil belongs on the PS Vita at some point, the same can obviously be said for Monster Hunter too, and Final Fantasy – the list is endless. Let us know your thoughts on Capcom’s choice to ignore the PS Vita for Revelations. Have you played the game on 3DS already?

Many of the hardcore gamers out there will be aware that next week marks the start of the Tokyo Game Show, one of the biggest annual game conferences in the world. It is held in Japan and will span over four days as usual, from September 16th until the 19th. Capcom are one of the many games developers who will be taking advantage of the conference and this year they’ve launched a Resident Evil: Revelations trailer ahead of the event.

We have been doing our best to provide our readers with the details revealed about the game up until now. So far we have brought you the gameplay trailer, which was some of the first footage released, we’ve also brought you confirmation that it won’t be available until 2012 for the 3DS and even details concerning co-op mode, which as it turns out will not be a feature in the latest title from the hit horror series of games.

Capcom’s TGS trailer reveals two out of the variety of characters expected to appear in the game, the first is a new female known only as Rachel and the second is the more familiar Jill Valentine. The trailer is set onboard a cruise-ship, seemingly abandoned and of course very dark. As the first character appears, she seems to be investigating the place when she finds a substance she is unfamiliar with. It isn’t long before she discovers a zombie like being which doesn’t die when shot, leaving running as her only option.

According to VG24/7, RE: Revelations sees Chris Redfield and Jill team up once again, in order to try to contain an outbreak, which happens to be on a cruise-ship this time around. The game will be showcased at the Tokyo Game Show next week in the meantime check out the trailer for yourself below.

Are you looking forward to the new Resident Evil title?

When Capcom revealed a new playable character for the much-anticipated Resident Evil: Revelations game during its E3 2011 press conference last week, the announcement sparked speculation that the upcoming survival horror title would in fact feature co-operative gameplay.

That is not the case at all however, as according to Wesley Yin-Poole over at eurogamer.net, Resident Evil producer Masachika Kawata has since confirmed that Resident Evil: Revelations is in fact a single-player only game. Kawata said that the title is not made for co-op, as it is very focused on the horror atmosphere.

Resident Evil: Revelations – which features the same control set-up as the upcoming Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D – takes place between the Resident Evil 4 and 5 games. Kawata also insisted that the upcoming game is a full Resident Evil story.

Kawata said that his biggest goal was to return the game to the survival horror roots that the Resident Evil series is best known for, as well as to show newer fans of the series how much fun the new Resident Evil is. In his eyes, this might encourage them to take a look at some of the older RE titles.

Would you liked to have seen co-op gameplay in the Resident Evil: Revelations game?

If you were hoping to get your hands on the much-anticipated Resident Evil: Revelations game for the recently released Nintendo 3DS this year, I’m afraid we have some rather disappointing news for you. Capcom has just confirmed that the game unfortunately won’t be released until 2012.

According to a recent article by Ben Hawkes over at 3dsbuzz.com, the hint of a 2012 release date surfaced on a recent post on the franchise’s official Facebook page. A Capcom employee had posted up several pieces of concept art, along with a tagline that said ‘from Resident Evil: Revelations (3DS, 2012).’

The concept art appears to suggest that the finished Resident Evil: Revelations game will provide players with a nice range of environments. This includes the wreckage of a cargo plane that’s crashed in the mountains and what looks like the corridors and ruined kitchens of a shipwreck.

Although the Resident Evil: Revelations game may not be released until next year, fans of the franchise do have the equally anticipated Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D to look forward to. That game, which is based on the bonus modes of RE4/5 – is due to be released in the US, Europe and Japan in June 2011.

It was also revealed recently that the Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D would include a demo of the Revelations game. Are you disappointed that the Revelations game won’t be released until next year?

I brought our readers an article at the end of December, which provided them with a list of Nintendo 3DS games that were due to be demoed at this month’s Nintendo World event in Japan. If you read the article, then you will know that Resident Evil: Revelations was one of the games listed.

Well we can now tell you that the game has been demoed, and gameplay footage has of course made its way online. According to a recent post by JBoc over at relyonhorror.com, the gameplay trailer unfortunately doesn’t contain audio, but it does give us an idea of how good the game looks.

As Anoop Gantayat over at uk.ds.ign.com recently reported, the Nintendo World demo (which the people at IGN spent some time playing) put players in control of Jill Valentine on board an abandoned ship, which serves as the main setting of Resident Evil: Revelations.

The controls in the Revelations game will be quite familiar to Resident Evil fans, with most of it taking place from the character’s back. Players move the character with the analogue pad, run with the B button, ready their weapon with the R button and shoot with the Y.

The Resident Evil: Revelations game also features the added ability to move while firing. Players can do this by holding down L. If a recent report in a Japanese magazine is anything to go by, then we may have a bit of a wait until the game arrives. Then again, it looks like it will be worth it!!!
