If you are still in two minds as to whether to pick up Capcom’s next Resident Evil game, a new gameplay feature that we have for Operation Raccoon City now may do little to change your minds. We have the complete first level for you to take a look at, but you may be surprised to see a lack of trademark style Resident Evil action which we have all become used to seeing.

As you’re probably well aware, Operation Raccoon City is moving in a completely different direction from Resident Evil 5 and it will actually be a third-person based affair developed by Slant Six Games where the roles have been reversed and you now play as members of the Umbrella team.

We grew up playing the original on the PlayStation 1 so to see this third person shooter game before ours eyes is certainly a surprise and a stark contrast to see the direction of which Capcom has taken the game since Resident Evil 5. Of course, we all know that Resident Evil 6 is coming now, but we still didn’t expect the company to completely change the core elements of Resident Evil like we see here in Operation Raccoon City.

We’ll stop there though as we understand that a lot of you are happy that Capcom is trying something new with the franchise. A lot of you are not happy with this third person style Resident Evil, but many of you are now coming to the idea of playing as Umbrella for the first time, and Operation Raccoon City may actually turn out to be the person ice-breaker game to play next month, before Capcom release Resident Evil 6 on November 20 later this year.

Unfortunately, the new gameplay that we have to show you doesn’t appear to show any zombie action, which again may cast an element of doubt in your minds as to whether to buy this or not. Our way of thinking though – The first level in a Resident Evil game, without any zombies has to be a risky move in our book.

Check out the footage below, courtesy of GameReactor and let us know your thoughts on it. Will you give Operation Raccoon City a chance, or are you waiting for Capcom to redeem themselves with Resident Evil 6?

For those of you that are Resident Evil fans and are looking forward to the release of the latest installment; Operation Raccoon City we have a trailer here, courtesy of Gamespot, that is sure to get you excited. Almost 20 minutes of the gameplay is being teased throughout, while the Capcom representative talks us through a walkthrough of one of the levels while playing the game.

The first thing you will notice from the trailer is that the game is a third-person shooter like the other titles in the series, except this game has seemingly more freedom of movement when it comes to running around, aiming and shooting. The graphics also seem to be on par with any other games you would expect in this genre.

The gameplay in this particular video is all from the PlayStation 3 version and is just a build of the full game, which is still in development and won’t be released on consoles until March 23rd 2012. The game allows you to take control of one of six special Umbrella Security Service operatives, each of which has their own unique traits. The characters to choose from are Spectre, Vector, Bertha, Four Eyes, Beltway and Lupo.

During the trailer, which can be viewed below, the representative is playing single player campaign and takes control of Bertha, who is a female operative with the special ability to heal wounded squad members. You can also play in co-op mode with up to three other players online. The video also reveals a unique covering system that allows gamers to take cover during gun fights automatically behind walls and other objects they are near to. As you progress through the level you will be required to fire upon hordes of both zombies and other military trained enemies.

What do you think of the game so far?

It has been a pretty mixed journey for Capcom as of late. After initially wowing their fans with the excellent Street Fighter IV, and then following it up with countless DLC content for most of their titles, they now switch their efforts towards their brand new, but much-talked about Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City game.

The new game is being co-developed by Slant Six and to celebrate the upcoming release of the game onto Xbox 360, PS3 and PC at the end of the year, Capcom has just released a 30 minute video of solid gameplay from Operation Raccoon City, and we’re interested in hearing what you think about the game.

Many of you would have thought that Capcom would return to their horror roots after Resident Evil 5 and the again-debated African setting. Many hardcore fans were hoping that the next game in the series would return to the ‘mansion style’ gameplay that fans fell in love with at the start of the series, but instead Operation Raccoon City will be far from that, with Capcom opting for a third person shooter style of game on the streets of Raccoon City.

And the gameplay video we have to show you doesn’t really do Capcom any favors, as aside from the graphics being satisfactory at best, the gameplay looks a little boring and definitely a complete u-turn with what fans expected to see in a new Resident Evil game. We kind of have to agree with the Resident Evil community too, as we would prefer to see the first-person Resident Evil game come back to life, with jaw dropping graphics which leave gamers excited to pick up their copy at the end of the year.

Sadly though, we have a feeling that this game may not win over many fans, as hardcore RE fans opt to save their cash until the next Resident Evil game. The good news is that Resident Evil 6 has already been confirmed and an unveiling is currently scheduled to happen at the Tokyo Game Show in September.

What are your thoughts on the current state of the Resident Evil franchise? Are you sad to see Capcom taking the third-person route with Operation Raccoon City?

We have some good news for Resident Evil fans now, as we have the first proper trailer for Capcom’s newest entry in their Resident Evil franchise. The game is called Operation Raccoon City and it will be out on Xbox 360 ,PS3 and PC this Winter.

Previously, you only had a teaser trailer to get excited about, but Capcom has now released a much more detailed and longer trailer, as part of their Captivate 2011 event, in which they also gave major new details for Street Fighter X Tekken.

As for Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City, we now know more details about the two main teams which will do battle against each other. They are, Umbrella’s USS Delta Team with members Vector, Spectre, Beltway and Bertha going up against US Spec Ops team, with Leon Kennedy on the opposite team this time around.

In the midst of that, players will have to contend with dealing with zombies and also B.O.W’s – Bio Organic Weapons, or big nasty mothers as we like to call them. The third-person gameplay certainly looks like a major shakeup from what we’re used to seeing from previous Resident Evil games.

Watch the trailer below and let us know your thoughts on it. Are you excited about playing the bad guys in Operation Raccoon City or not?

Earlier on we showed you the very first teaser trailer for Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City after the game was officially unveiled earlier on this week. After having watched it, do you agree that Capcom seem to be going down the ‘Left 4 Dead’ route with this game?

If you missed the trailer, check it out again below for a refresh. While we don’t get any clear cut gameplay, we do get snippets of cut-scenes, and the angles and content seem to suggest that this game will be a straight up zombie shooter surival game, just like Left 4 Dead.

Rather than playing from a first-person perspective, it looks to a third-person style game and if it turns out that the gameplay is indeed similar to Left 4 Dead – would you still buy it or not? Left 4 Dead is a great game of course, but there will be a fair amount of you who believe Capcom shouldn’t go down this route with the famous Resident Evil franchise.

However, after Resident Evil 5, we wouldn’t mind a drastic shake up in gameplay to keep things fresh and since four man co-op has already been confirmed, we don’t really mind how they play this one out. Having said that, if Valve go ahead and announce Left 4 Dead 3 at E3 2011 in June, things could get a lot more tasty between the two franchises.

Have a look at the trailer for yourself and let us know your thoughts on it.

We announced here that CapCom’s next release in the Resident Evil series would be Operation Raccoon City now CapCom has released the game’s debut trailer video. The trailer scrolls through various scenarios of landscapes filled with zombies and gunfire while backed to a euphoric track which doesn’t exactly put the fear factor into the video to say the least.

The video displays lots of gore and zombies eating people, dead or otherwise, which is what you could expect from any resident evil game. The video does not give a lot away in terms of gameplay or features in this game, it is mainly a way to create hype for the release date (which was mentioned in this post).

As the release date gets closer we may see more videos from the game which give more away about the features and gameplay, however for now we are left with what we assume will be a very common scene in this game, zombies! Views on the video are mixed as some are excited to go back to Raccoon City and some say it is not the same game anymore.

Either way, we can only say that the video (shown below) does not give alot a way at this early stage. We can only say that we will bet keeping an eye out for more information to unfold from the developers.

Check out the trailer below, are you impressed?

A few days ago we announced that the Resident Evil 4 and Resident Evil: Code Veronica games were to be remade in high definition for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Now we have even more good news for all you Resident Evil fans out there, as it appears a brand new RE game has just been unveiled.

As WhoIsDo over on the stickskills.com website recently noted, it had already been suggested that Slant Six was working on a new Resident Evil title, and it now appears that the Official Xbox Magazine has confirmed the said rumors by revealing a few details about the upcoming game.

The game in question – which is due out later this year and will be available for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 – is entitled Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City, and is said to let fans enjoy the Resident Evil series from a brand new perspective: as the women and men technically responsible for everything.

Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City will see gamers playing the roles of members of the official Umbrella Security Services team. The game features three different factions: the USS team, the US Spec Ops and the BOWs (bio-organic weapon monsters), which were created by Umbrella.

Depending on how you play the game, Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City will give players the option of changing the history of Resident Evil. Players will not only get the opportunity to meet and interact with different characters from throughout the series, buy they’ll even get the chance to kill them.

You can read more interesting details about the upcoming game over at stickskills.com. Do you like what you’ve read about the Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City title?
