A post on Joystiq reveals that the game will come at a price of $9.99 (800 Microsoft points) and will land on the Xbox Live Arcade and Playstation Network April 5 Europe and in the same week for North America. However more important news to those with Playstation Network Plus subscriptions, you will get it free of charge.

If you are not a subscriber to PSN Plus, Joystiq say you may just be able to sneak in and get the game for free if you sign up before March 25 so all is not lost here, but there will be no such bonus for already paying customers of Xbox Live sadly.

The decision to give PSN Plus members the game free could be a plan to gain more interest from gamers in signing up to it, although we think many Xbox Live gamers will feel hard done by.

However, all we knew at that stage was the fact that the top-down twin-stick shooter game would be arriving on the PSN and XBLA sometime in 2011.

We now have a bit of good news for those that are waiting for the game to arrive, as the publisher has now confirmed a PSN / XBLA release date for the much-awaited game. According to Wesley Yin-Poole over at eurogamer.net, the new Red Faction title will launch in the first week of April.

As Wesley notes, that probably means that European gamers will most likely see the Red Faction spin-off arrive on Xbox Live Arcade on 5th April and PlayStation Network on 6th April. The title is said to offer gamers four-player vehicular co-op, which focuses on quick-fire destruction.

The Red Faction: Battlegrounds game – which was created by UK-based developer THQ Warrington – includes vehicles such as fast, all-terrain cars and the slow yet powerful tank. Are you looking forward to downloading the Red Faction: Battlegrounds title?

This news was revealed by THQ Digital’s creative director Don Whiteford at the Game Developers Conference, details are scarce however there will definitely be support for up to four player local multiplayer.

A quote from Whiteford explained that the game will be set in an isometric arena and will be a combat game where you fight rovers, tanks and mechs.

THQ has now released the official Red Faction: Battlegrounds press release, this revealed that it will arrive in 2011 and there will be online co-op modes, multiplayer modes include Survival, Annihilate, and Flag Frenzy, sound like a lot of fun to me.

If you are looking to buy Red Faction: Armageddon which is released in 2011 there is a huge reason to buy Red Faction: Battlegrounds, apparently in the game you will be able to unlock items for Armageddon.
