Red Faction: Armageddon is different from the last game in a number of ways, with the biggest difference being the structure of the game. In Guerrilla players had an open world experience, but Armageddon gives the player designated objectives according to Tyler Minarik of PlayStation LifeStyle.

This provides a faster paced game and focuses on combat instead of just destroying everything in sight. With the campaign mode being quite short gamers will turn to the online modes of play. Infestation mode is a standard online cooperative game pitting players against enemies that increase in numbers and difficulties.

There are sixteen stages with eight of them being dark versions of other levels, and each has thirty waves of enemies. Ruin mode needs the online pass that comes with the game to be accessed, but the only online feature about it is the leader board. It is also similar to the Wreaking Crew mode found in Guerrilla where players have to cause as much destruction as possible but in a stylish way.

It will be of some disappointment to many that there is no competitive multiplayer mode in the game, but the ones available do provide some fun and plenty of game play. Are you going to buy Red Faction: Armageddon?

The first review we looked at was from Matt Joseph over at wegotthiscovered.com. According to Matt, who gave the game an overall score of 7.5/10, the story in Red Faction: Armageddon is rather confusing, the dialogue is crummy and a lot of the cutscenes failed to impress.

However, this reviewer did state that the game features fantastic destruction and a great variety of weapons. Meanwhile, Michael Futter from the ztgd.com website gave the game a more impressive score of 8.3 out of 10. Michael also stated that the game has a good weapons selection.

The down sides according to this reviewer are the lack of competitive multiplayer modes, and the fact that the enemies have no personalities. The final review comes from Anthony Gallegos over on the ign.com website, who gave the Red Faction: Armageddon game an overall rating of 7/10.

According to Anthony, the game’s levels range from really exciting to just plain boring, and the dialogue is cheesy. However, he does go on to say that the game is good fun when it comes to destructive environments. You can read the full reviews via the links provided above.

In order to play the demo of the game, which is not due out until June, users simply have to register. You do not need a paid account in order to be included for the trial. What makes this demo different to those which are on Xbox Live for instance is this is a timed trial.

That means you get 30 minutes to play as much of the game as possible as opposed to getting to a certain point of the game before the demo is over. As explained in the article at Game Front you can pre-order the game OnLive if you decide you like it.

However, it doesn’t look like Red Faction fans will have to wait too much longer for the third-person action game to arrive, as according to a very brief article over at kotaku.com, the delay is only a short one and Red Faction: Armageddon will now arrive on June 7th in North America.

As we previously mentioned, the game – which will be available to buy for the Xbox 360, Microsoft Windows and PlayStation 3 – was originally meant to launch on May 31st in North America and mainland Europe. Red Faction: Armageddon will now arrive everywhere else on June 10th.

It’s not all bad news though, as it still looks like the recently announced PS3 and Xbox 360 demo is arriving on schedule. If you read our previous article that announced the upcoming demo, you will know that it will enable players to try out two of the game’s most powerful weapons.

According to Pete Haas over on the cinemablend.com website, the demo – which is due to arrive on Xbox Live and PlayStation Network (if it’s up and running by then) on May 3rd – puts players in the shoes of the game’s main character Darius Mason, as he fights his way through the Martian sewers.

The Red Faction: Armageddon demo will enable players to test out two of the game’s most powerful weapons: the Nano Forge and the Magnet Gun. The Nano Forge not only allows players to pound enemies with concussive blasts, but it also has the ability to repair / rebuild destroyed objects.

However, trying out the Magnet Gun will most likely be the highlight of the demo for many gamers. This weapon enables players to fire at two different objects, causing the first object to collide with the second. Gamers will then be able to throw a building at an enemy or vice versa.

The Red faction: Armageddon game – which will be available for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Microsoft Windows – is due to be released on May 31st in mainland Europe and North America, June 2nd in Australia and June 3rd in the UK. Will you be downloading the demo?

If you decide to pre-order the third-person action game from Amazon for example, you will receive a free downloadable copy of the Red Faction: Battlegrounds game for the PS3 or Xbox 360.

Those who reserve a copy of the game from GameStop will not only receive a free downloadable copy of the Red Faction: Battlegrounds game, but they will also get the Commando Pack. The Commando Pack contains a Plasma Thrower weapon, dual Laser Pistol weapons and an Armored Commando Uniform.

If you pre-order Red Faction: Armageddon from Best Buy on the other hand, you will receive the Recon Pack containing an Arc Welder weapon, a Clandestine Recon uniform for Spies and Snipers and an XNG-5000 weapon. Meanwhile, Wal-Mart’s pre-order bonus is a Limited Edition comic book.

The story of the Red Faction comic book – which features the protagonist Darius Mason – takes place just before the events of the Armageddon game. The comic book also includes a mini strategy guide from Prima Games. Red Faction: Armageddon is due to be released on May 31st.

If you’re the type of person that enjoys playing games with destructible environments, then I’m pretty sure you’re going to love the new ‘Ruin Mode.’ As Stephen Totilo at kotaku.com.au recently noted, ‘Ruin Mode’ enables players to destroy all of the buildings etc on one of five levels.

Players have no combat guns in this mode, but they do have all the tools for destructing buildings (and repairing) available in the main game. There’s a couple of different ways to play the ‘Ruin Mode,’ including ‘Freeplay Ruin Mode’ and a ‘Timed Challenge Mode.’

The ‘Freeplay Ruin Mode’ enables players to just blast and topples constructions as much as they want, while the ‘Timed Challenge Mode’ allows them to aim for a high score. We have embedded the trailer below this post, so you can see the new ‘Ruin Mode’ for yourself.
