In our opinion one thing which could be better this time around is downloadable-content – today we will look into what GTA can learn from Red Dead Redemption’s DLC.

These days game developers can make lots of extra income by releasing add-ons for games, however the last Grand Theft Auto game, GTA IV, only featured two add-ons, we really think that in this day and age consumers will want more – do you?

A lot has changed since GTA IV arrived back in 2008, this was evident last year when Rockstar released Red Dead Redemption and saw great success with the DLC which was rolled-out over Xbox Live and the PlayStation Network, especially when the Undead Nightmare pack was unleashed. To this day this is regarded as one of, if not the best-ever game add-on of all time (IGN scored it 10/10) – perhaps a similar zombiefied pack could hit GTA V.

It is not just the Undead Nightmare pack which sold well, Outlaws to the End, Legends and Killers, Liars and Cheats, the Free Roam Pack, the The Hunting and Trading pack and the Myths and Mavericks Bonus Pack were all popular, and here’s why. Not only did these add-ons bring more missions to the game, but also we got new multiplayer game modes, multiplayer characters, challenges, locations, weapons, outfits and much more.

Now let’s compare that to what GTA IV’s add-ons brought to the game. The Ballad of Gay Tony and The Lost and Damned add-ons were both pretty popular, however these were just new side-quests and incomparable to RDR.

In our opinion people will love to see Red Dead Redemption-like DLC for GTA V, this could unlock stupidly powerful new weapons, fast vehicles, more multiplayer modes and much more. Perhaps Rockstar could finish things off with the GTA V Undead Nightmare where hordes of flesh-eating zombies attack you from every direction.

That’s not all though, as there are also details of a new Undead Overrun patch. Loyal fans of the game will now be rewarded for sticking with the western game, which was considered to be one of the best of its kind.

The new downloadable content will offer a host of new characters in multiplayer, and one of them will be Landon Ricketts; who is the gunslinger from the single player campaign. Now we do not know about you, but it would be awesome to see some of the actors from the “Spaghetti Westerns” appear in this new DLC – we want the man with “No Name.”

CVG is not convinced that new characters will be enough to help this game, which is now starting to show its age. However, they do believe that the new maps might just do the trick. There will be new locations for three modes, these are Deathmatch, Gang and Grab the Bag. That’s not all, as there are said to be a few more, which Rockstar is yet to share with us.

As for the patch, you will be happy to learn that multiplayer mode settings for Undead Overrun will return. This will not please all RDR fans, but at least it is a little something else to try and bring a little spice back into this aging game. Having said that, this is still one of the best western games ever and it is Free Roam mode that has helped.

These updates will be released on PSN and Xbox Live in September, but as yet there is still no sign of a PC version. However, we cannot see them wanting to launch a game that is now over a year old?

There has been so much talk of a sequel, and yet we are still no closer to finding out if there will actually be one. This was a successful game for Rockstar, so makes sense that there will be one. The engine in the current Red Dead Redemption is very limited, so that is where most of the work will have to be done. The story will be another factor, as it will be tough to come up with different campaigns, but rest assured, Rockstar are more than up to the task.

They have announced that new DLC will be available, content that was previously only available to those that pre-ordered the game.

We’re pleased to confirm that the new content will be available on April 12th (today), both on the PlayStation Network and the Xbox Live Marketplace, as reported from Eurogamer. You’ll find the three new packs on their relevant stores priced at $0.99 or 80 Microsoft Points each.

The content will include the Deadly Assassin Outfit, the Golden Guns Weapon pack and the War Horse, with each pack offering you an extra stats boost either in single or mulitplayer mode.

Aside from this new content releasing this week, Rockstar also confirmed that more DLC content from the pre-order pack titled L.A Noire is still on the way soon – so look out for that.

Indy game Minecraft also took a few bites with most innovative and best debut game.

Rockstar San Diego Western’s game took four awards at the GDC which included Best Game, Best Game Design, Best Technology, and Best Audio.

It was a good year for Indy games too, with Minecraft taking two awards and Limbo also showed the capabilities of Indy developers by grabbing the Best Visual Arts award.

Honorable mentions also went to two of the biggest names in the computer games industry with Shenmue and Outrun creator Yu Suzuki getting his hands on the Pioneer Award. Black & White and Fable’s Peter Molyneux from Lionhead also picked up the Lifetime Achievement award.

Amnesia, a journey that immerses you in a scary, creepy, horror-like setting also managed to win some awards at the Independent Games Festival Awards 2011 which included Direct2Drive Vision, Technical Excellence and Excellence in Audio with it’s suspense filled atmospheric soundscapes, netting $15,000 in prize money.

According to a recent article by David Hinkle over at joystiq.com, Rockstar have recently released an title update for the Red Dead Redemption game, which players will be prompted to download the next time they load their game in up in their Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3.

The latest update reportedly fixes issues that gamers have been experiencing recently, including being unable to unlock certain Trophies and Achievements throughout the game and a certain glitch in which players would somehow get stuck in the environment.

As Brenna Hillier from vg247.com reports, the patch also features a fix for selecting private Free Roam mode during a barker countdown, which apparently resulted in a constant load and a fix for a problem that caused multiple mine carts to appear when replaying the Gaptooth action area.

The patch also issues a fix for the occasional freezing and crashing problem that players were experiencing during the Mother Superior Blues mission and in the Las Hermanas area, while playing the Undead Nightmare DLC pack and a fix for the issue obtaining the Big Bluff Achievement on Xbox 360.

Over 2 million units were sold in the first two months of release, just the start of an amazing journey for the game.

In a recent interview for the Official Playstation Magazine, Jeronimo Barrea (Rockstar’s VP of product development) stated that Rockstar had “a massive number of ideas” for Red Dead Redemption.

The critically acclaimed “Undead Nightmare” was released recently and got a 10/10 in the IGN review. For that review, go to ign.com. It also got an 8.0 rating from gamespot.com, some very impressive scores for a DLC pack. For a full article on the interview, check out the post on CVG, at computerandvideogames.com.

Many PC fans desperately want a port of the game, as this is one of the rare occasions that PC players do not get such a fantastic experience.

As you can imagine there has been a wide variety mentioned, including obvious titles such as Call of Duty: Black Ops, Red Dead Redemption and Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood.

I thought I would take a look at a couple of these websites, just to check out what titles are being dubbed the best video games of 2010. The first article I came across is from Chris Kohler over at wired.com, which actually lists the top 20 games of this year including Fallout: New Vegas at No. 20.

The game that came in at No. 19 on this list is Kirby’s Epic Yarn for the Nintendo Wii, while BioWare’s Mass Effect 2 game ended up at number 11 and Donkey Kong Returns made it to No. 6. The game that made it to the No. 1 spot on this list however was Starcraft 2 for the PC.

Surprisingly, COD: Black Ops didn’t actually make the top 20 list at all. The next article that interested me is the top 4 games of 2010, from the guys at 4logpc.com. Michael said his favorite title of 2010 was Splinter Cell: Conviction, while Battlefield Bad Company 2 was his runner-up.

Chris on the other hand classed Mass Effect 2 as his best game of this year, and listed Bayonetta as his second choice. Josh listed Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood as his top game of 2010, while Call of Duty: Black Ops was named as his runner-up.

Meanwhile, Cory named Super Mario Galaxy 2 as his top choice and Call of Duty: Black Ops as his second choice. I’m quite surprised not to see Gran Turismo mentioned on any of the lists. Being a fan of first-person shooters, I would have to say Black Ops is one of my top choices.

Well the 2010 VGA ceremony has now taken place, so we now know what game won.

The list of games nominated for the 2010 VGA Game of the Year award included, Red Dead Redemption, Mass Effect 2, Halo: Reach, God of War 3 and Call of Duty: Black Ops. However, according to a recent article by Joe Anderson over at vg247.com, it was in fact Red Dead Redemption that won the award.

Although Mass Effect 2 didn’t miss out on awards entirely as it still won awards for Best RPG Title, and Best Xbox 360 Game. The Red Dead Redemption game didn’t just stop with the Game of the Year award either, as it also won awards for Best Original Score and Best DLC for its Undead Nightmare pack.

The award for Best Wii Game went to Super Mario Galaxy 2, while God of War 3 won the award for Best PS3 Game. Meanwhile, the Best Driving Game award surprisingly went to Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit, the Best Multiplayer Game award went to Halo: Reach and COD: Black Ops won the Best Shooter award.

That’s right people, you did read correctly! According to JC Fletcher over at joystiq.com, the Double XP offer runs from today (Thursday, November 25th) through Sunday. “Stuff Yourself with 4 days of Red Dead Redemption Double XP,” Rockstar rather cleverly announced recently.

The Double XP offer begins from 12:01am ET on Thursday, and ends at 11:59pm ET on Sunday, November 28th. So while you’re waiting for your Thanksgiving turkey dinner, why not load up your “Red Dead Redemption” game and start earning those all important experience points.

Noire. We’ve already had some screenshots appear, but this trailer intends to blow us out of the water.

Rockstar Games have already given us two action packed games in the way of the Grand Theft Auto series, as well as the hugely popular Red Dead Redemption. It’s fair to say that these games were “in your face” action packed, where as it seems that Rockstar are taking a rather subtle take on their next release — L.A. Noire. But I bet it is anything but.

The Godfarther/Mafia-esq clone looks like it’s going to be a real big hitter when it hits shelves in Spring 2011, and I expect it to be nothing other than enthralling.

L.A. Noire takes place in the late-1940′s, where you play as a detective based in Los Angeles and solve crimes “through a blend of classic action, clue-finding and interrogation,” says Rockstar.
