Now that we’ve moved into October, a full list of 2011 September product recalls have been posted online. The products are from a diverse range of industries, which include a cantaloupe recall, a Weehoo iGo bicycle pedal trailer and D100 lawn tractor recall by Deere & Co.

For those of you that are looking for a list of products recalled for last month, we’ve got a few sources for you. This includes the CPSC website, which features all the products that fall under their watch and this page shows all the September 2011 recalls. From what we can see, these include musical wooden table toys, a toy workshop from Little Tikes, bicycles from Bridgeway and bunk beds from American Woodcrafters. Most of the recalls are due to different types of hazards.

We also found a great list in this article, which shows a vast range of products in different topics. These include food products with food poisoning issues and undeclared ingredients, children’s product recalls that remind us how important it is to keep an eye on issues being reported. Other topics include clothing and toys from Pottery Barn, Twirlla, and Little Trikes.

The worst category affected by deaths was in the consumer section, although there were a few vehicle recalls from John Deere, Kubota, BMW, Kia, Subaru, SAAB, and Volkswagen. You can see a sample of the products recalled in the image below, and can see the full list here. Let us know if you have any questions about the recalls, were you affected?

Car giants Mazda has issued a fresh recall this week, but for one of the most unlikely reasons we’ve ever heard of. The company are recalling around 52,000 cars in the United States, due to Yellow Sac Spiders, who have been discovered to be living inside Mazda car engines.

While the prospect of big yellow spiders under your hood whilst driving is scary enough, the critters pose a serious health risk, as they could clog up the ventilation system in the engine, which could lead to a potential fire hazard, according to Reuters.

The recall affects the Mazda6 models with 2.5 litre engines which were built between April 2008 and February 2010. However, even if you own a newer Mazda6 model, you should still get your engine checked out to see if Yellow Sac Spider webs are present.

Apparently, these spiders love the smell of fuel, although experts are puzzled as to why they are choosing to live in Mazda6 models, rather than any other Mazda model. Twenty infestations have been reported, but no fires have been confirmed as of yet. We should inform you though, that while these spiders are common in the US, their venom is still poisonous.

Mazda will fix the situation by installing all recalled cars with a spring, which will prevent the spider from entering the motor. You should contact your nearest Mazda dealer for further information.

Do you own a Mazda6? Let us know your thoughts on this unusual recall.

You may remember us telling you about a recent stroller recall which affected certain Graco strollers, but now we have another recall to tell you about, this time affecting Baby Jogger, who has announced a voluntary recall due to a potential hazard within certain products.

The recall has been issued together with the Consumer Product Safety Comission as there is a hazard which could lead to the jump seat detaching itself if the jump seat is not locked in securely. This then means that the jump seat could be loose and a child could fall out in the process, so Baby Jogger are obviously putting saftey first in this instance.

The Baby Jogger products are sold in both the US and Canada, and the Item Number you need to look out for is J7J50, which has been in stores since January 2008. If you own a Baby Jogger product, you should stop using it immediately and contact Baby Jogger to receive some safety straps which will help remedy the problem.

You can read more information about Baby Jogger on their official website here. If you need more info on the recall itself, head to PR News Wire here, where you’ll find useful contact information and email addresses.

We have some important news to bring to Toyota and Lexus owners now, as it has been confirmed once again, that the car giant has had to recall some of their models due to a recurring problem involving hazardous floor mats which could cause problems to drivers.

According to USA Today, the recall is one of the biggest, as Toyota are recalling around 2.1 million vehicles in the US, with various Lexus models also affected by the floor mat issue.

In case this is the first time you’ve heard about the problem with these floor mats, Toyota has been having ongoing problems with them due to the fact that they have the potential to jam against the accelerator pedal or interfere with pedal mechanisms. This is obviously a major issue if it occurs to drivers whilst on the road, so you can understand why Toyota has straight away announced this new setback.

Here are the important details that you need to be aware of. New Lexus models affected by the recall include the 2007 Lexus GS 300, GS 350 AWD Lexus, and Lexus models RX 330, RX 350, and RX 400h, the three of which were built between 2006 and 2007.

As for Toyota vehicles, the models included on the list are the 2006 Toyota Highlander and Highlander HV models and the Toyota RAV4 produced between 2006-2010.

What are your thoughts on the models mentioned above, is your motor unfortunately on the list? Over at Detroit News, they are reporting that Toyota has already been fined around $49 million for failing to announce various recalls on time. This latest recall is certainly going to cast Toyota in a bad light – most of you will probably feel this is justified.

We’ll bring you more details on the recall soon.

Earlier on we informed you about a product recall recap for February 2011, but now we have information on how you can use a clever tool online to check whether toy products and the vehicle you drive have been recalled or not.

If you are worried about a particular car or toy recall, you’ll need to bookmark both the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and the Consumer Product Safety Comission (CPSC) websites for full information.

If that doesnt help you, then we have two links which probably will. If you need to search for information on let’s say a Fisher Price recall for example, visit this link at the CPSC website. The information here asks you to either search for recalls in a particular month, or you can just search for a specific company and view all the relevant recalls that have occurred so far.

If we select the month February 2011, you’ll see that Jogging Strollers and Felt Bicycles have both been recalled for this month, while there’s also a listing for the IKEA crib recall, which we wrote an article on here.

If it is a particular vehicle recall you’re searching for in relation to February 2011, the same thing applies here. Head to this link at the NHTSA and you can search for the Model year of a vehicle, and then the brand of car you own. If you insert Toyota 2011 for example, you’ll be able to view a list of all the recent recalls that have occurred for Toyota 2011 models.

Let us know if you currently own a product which has been recalled this month. Alternatively, try the links above and see if they help you or not.

More than 18,000 Evenflo car seats have been recalled due to an issue with cracking. It seems that under tests these Maestro Combination Booster Seat’s have cracked during a crash simulation. The recall only affects early models, and will no doubt be a worry to parents.

During tests two seats had cracked, which resulted in the harness that holds the seat in place. The seat only failed when used with the five-point harness, no faults were found when used as a booster seat.

The two seats that failed were made in December and February, so all those made after April will not need to be recalled. From the amount of seats affected in this recall 4,479 are in Canada and 13,792 in the U.S.

According to CanadianDriver, there has not been any reports of injury, but you are still asked not to use them. The model number being recalled in Canada is 31011057C, and those in the U.S. are as follows: 31011059, 31011048, 3101198, 31011049 and 3101980.

We have another Toyota Recall to tell you about now, as it has been confirmed that the company are recalling a number of their Corolla models, due to a problem involving the engine, which could cause cars to stall.

As reported from LATimes, Toyota will be recalling their Corolla models, as well as Toyota Matrix vehicles. These models alone make up a recall of over 1 million vehicles, but Toyota are also recalling 200,000 Pontiac Vibe models which were built by Toyota and General Motors.

All models recalled are due to the same problem, and it is to do with engine control modules which Toyota say may not have been manufactured properly. As a result of the defective electronic component, cars could stall and increase the risk of serious injury whilst on the road.

According to Toyota, three accidents have been reported as a result of the engine modules, with one accident leading to minor injuries.

If you have a 2005 to 2008 Toyota model listed above, you should contact Toyota immediately. Full story over at the LATimes.

We have recently heard that Portland Shellfish Company is voluntarily recalling a wide-range of their cooked, ready to eat lobster claw and knuckle meat, this is because of contamination concerns, however at the time of this post no related illnesses had been reported.

Apparently a range of products may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, this organism has the potential to be fatal to young children, the elderly and people with poor immune systems.

If you do not fall into this bracket you may just suffer diarrhea, high fever, abdominal pain, headaches and nausea. Perhaps the most concerning news is that pregnant women infected with Lyseria could perhaps have a stillbirth or miscarriage.

Portland Shellfish Co distributed the affected products nationwide, therefore the recall is massive, if you are concerned check out this link, here you can find a full list of affected seafood.

The FDA has temporarily suspended the GlaxoSmithKline’s Rotarix vaccine because they believe that it is contaminated with Porcine Circovirus Type 1 (PCV1). The U.S. Food and Drug Administration explains that it infects pigs.

The Money Times reports that there is no evidence that PCV1 offers any risk to children – this has not stopped the FDA from asking for a suspension of the drug. A study from the U.S. academic research team found that Rotarix was contaminated with PCV1 by using a novel technique to locate the virus.

Both the FDA and GlaxoSmithKline have done follow up test and confirmed the findings of the study. The FDA have now said that over the coming weeks, an expert advisory committee will be set up, which is when they will release more information.
