With Mass Effect 3 set for release in roughly 10 days we thought many of you would be interested in some gear which has recently been revealed by the guys at Razer, they teamed up with BioWare to create an official line of peripherals which are said to help you come out victorious when taking Commander Shepard on his intergalactic journey.

All of the following Razer products will become available in March, PC gamers will apparently benefit from utilizing Razer’s Mass Effect 3 BlackWidow keyboard, Imperator mouse and Vespula mouse mat, we can’t vouch for just how much these peripherals will help you during your Mass Effect 3 campaign – but you can’t ignore the technical specifications and features which the keyboard and mouse will bring when compared to standard offerings.

Let’s start with the ‘Mass Effect 3 Razer BlackWidow Ultimate Mechanical Gaming Keyboard’. This keyboard will set you back $139.99 and for this hefty price tag you’ll get full mechanical keys with actuation force of 50g, all of which are backlit with 5 levels of brightness. As with many other gaming keyboards this model offers programmable keys with macro recording, customizable software profiles, gaming mode and 1ms response times. In terms of design you can see the keyboard below.

As you’d expect there’s a Mass Effect 3-inspired design and the ‘N7’ logo, also you can just about make out that it connects via USB and there’s USB-passthrough along with headphone and microphone jacks. In terms of size and weight it measures in at 475 x 171 x 30mm and it weighs 1.5kg.

If you buy the Mass Effect 3 keyboard you should also seriously consider the ‘ Mass Effect 3 Razer Imperator Ergonomic Gaming Mouse’, this features a 6400dpi 4G Dual Sensor which should ensure that you’re on target when battling it out with the enemies you meet in ME3. There’s also adjustable side buttons, 200 inches per second acceleration, sensitivity adjustment, Hyperesponse buttons, onboard memory, rubberized grips and mouse feet which deliver low resistance. Below you can see this mouse in all its glory, it connects via USB and measures in at 123 x 71 x 42mm – again it is decorated with ME3 artwork. This mouse will cost you $79.99.

The Imperator mouse goes hand-in-hand with another Razer product, the Vespula Dual-Sided Gaming Mouse Mat. At $34.99 we’ll forgive you for turning your nose up at this price, but if you do buy it you’ll get two surfaces, one for speed, the other for control – both of which are non-slip, anti-reflective and abrasion-resistant . When using this mouse mat you should stay RSI free thanks to a gel-filled wrist rest. The design is pretty eye-catching, you can see it below.

Finally we will quickly tell you about two peripherals for the Xbox 360, the Mass Effect 3 Razer Chimaera 5.1 wireless gaming headset will also work with the PC (we reviewed a similar headset here) and the Razer Onza Torunament Edition controller which can also be plugged into your PC. The Onza controller is just-like other variants, however this time round it has a Mass Effect-inspired design to accompany the adjustable analog sticks, additional programmable buttons and hyperesponse action buttons – it costs $59.99, whilst the Chimaera headset costs a whopping $209.99 and delivers rich sound with its 50mm drivers, this is a wireless headset and allows you to customize voice and game sound levels to suit your preference.

Head over to Razer’s Mass Effect 3 pages to find all the details regarding the peripherals which we’ve spoken about in this brief article, also there’s a Messenger Bag and iPhone protection case to check out, they cost $79.99 and $24.99 respectively, again we think the prices may put off a lot of potentional customers. No-matter which you choose to buy you will get a code to unlock the Deadly Collector Assault rifle and multiplayer content packs.

Who is your favorite game peripheral manufacturer?

Earlier this week we told you about the great prospect for true portable ‘PC’ gaming thanks to Razer’s new Project Fiona tablet that the company have unveiled at CES 2012...

Earlier this week we told you about the great prospect for true portable ‘PC’ gaming thanks to Razer’s new Project Fiona tablet that the company have unveiled at CES 2012 over in Las Vegas. Now, it gets even better as we have a video to show you that really demonstrates what the beast can handle – Skyrim on ultra high settings.

If you thought the initial CES unveiling of Project Fiona was impressive, then you haven’t seen anything yet. As we have already told you, information on hardware specs for Project Fiona are still being kept a secret at the moment, but Razer was keen to announce that their gaming tablet will be running on an third-generation Intel Core i7 processor and will include motion support via an accelerometer and rumble support as well.

Now though, who needs to know the exact details of what it can run when they are already confirming it can run games like Skyrim on max settings? To prove it, a video shot by Destructoid at CES 2012 shows Bethesda’s latest RPG epic running with a 1280×800 resolution and based on the video, it looks pretty incredible on a portable device too with no major signs of framerate problems.

It has already been said by Razer that their tablet will be able to run current PC games available today such as Skyrim seen in the video, but another aspect to point out to you is that Skyrim was actually in fact booted up from Steam, so it can run Valve’s interface and presumably all their vast collection of titles with no problems either.

Project Razer is looking amazing so far no doubt and a fantastic prospect ahead for the future of real PC portable gaming. The one stumbling block though will obviously be the high-price attached with this device, as we already know that Razer has given it a sub-$1000 bracket for the time being. Skyrim on ultra settings is some feat. though, so how much would you be willing to pay for one?

The internal hardware within today’s top-end tablets allows people to play pretty impressive games on-the-go, but what if there was a tablet primarily designed for hardcore PC gaming? Well that’s exactly what Razer has delivered with a new product concept which they are showing of at CES 2012 – let us introduce you to Project Fiona.

So what’s Project Fiona,? Well in short it is a Windows-based tablet which aims to deliver an immersive gaming experience, this is achieved thanks to force feedback, controllers situated on both sides of the tablet and THX certified audio. What’s special about this tablet is the fact that it can run any of today’s PC games out-of-the-box thanks to a super-impressive 3rd-generation Intel Core i7 processor, sadly we don’t know any details in regards to other specs such as RAM, HDD or GPU, but if you watch the video embedded at the bottom of this post you will see that it is pretty impressive in terms of graphical quality.

You can see an image showing off Project Fiona’s form-factor below, as you can see you grip the tablet via to grips situation on the left and right side of the tablet (when used in landscape mode), each grip features what looks like four buttons an analogue stick and at least one trigger button. We are a little worried about the ergonomics of this as it looks like it will be impossible to use the four buttons without taking your thumb off the analogue sticks.

Razer assures us that you will be able to plug in your own USB keyboard and USB mouse for games which do not support gamepads, also Project Fiona will feature multi-touch and an accelerometer for games which support such controls. Other things to mention include the microphone and headphone jacks and a specifically design user interface to allow ease of use.

It is hard not to be impressed by the video below, but whether people will see this as an alternative to a gaming PC, standard tablet, gaming laptop or hand-held console is yet to be seen, we are a little worried that the potential $1000 price tag will put people, even given the fact that this price seems reasonable considering the fact it will come with genuine Windows 7 (or perhaps 8) along with very advanced internal hardware and features. We just think buying a cheap tablet with a game streaming service such as OnLive could be a more viable option for a lot of people.

Do you think Project Fiona will always remain a concept? Would you pay $1000 for it? Let us know in the comments section below.

Razer has just unveiled something which they are dubbing the World’s first true gaming laptop, this is the Razer Blade and this will arrive sometime during Q4 2011, as you would expect it does not come cheaply, however it should offer a gaming experience like no other laptop has offered before.

For $2799.99 you get an Intel Core i7 2640M (2.8GHz) processor, 8GB DDR3 (1333MHz) RAM, a 320GB SATA HDD (7200rpm), NVIDIA GeForce GT 555M graphics with 2GB GDDR5 video memory and NVIDIA Optimus technology, WiFi b/g/n and a built-in HD webcam. The graphics should look great on its 17.3-inch LED backlit display which outputs at Full HD (1920×1080), however there is no mention of HDMI out. We are also told that it features a 60Wh battery , but don’t know how much life you will get from a single charge.

The design itself looks great, the Blade measures in at just 16.81 x 10.9 x 0.88 (inches) and it will apparently weigh 6.97lbs, as you can see it is by no means small and thin, however this is no surprise given the technical specifications which are on offer – that said Razer claim that this is the thinner than any other 17-inch gaming laptop currently available. We have embedded some press images of the Razer Blade below, do you like the physical design?

You will notice that instead of a touchpad situated centrally below the keyboard you get Razer’s unique Switchblade UI, we have no hands on experience with this UI, however Razer say that it compromises of “10 dynamic adaptive tactile keys for easier access of in-game commands” and ” an LCD capable of two modes: one mode that displays in-game information when a mouse is in use; and another mode that functions as an ultra-sensitive, multi-touch panel designed for gaming on the go”. You can find out even more about this truly unique gaming laptop by checking out Razer’s official press release.

As we hear more regarding the Blade’s release we will keep you posted, will this revolutionize PC gaming and make Razer the market leader in PC gaming? Only time will tell, in the mean time feel free to add your opinions in the comments section below. Here are a few more images to check out:

Yesterday we told you all about Razer’s Battlefield 3 protection case for iPhone 4, now we have another product to tell you about which will accompany the release of Battlefield 3, this is the Battlefield 3 Razer Onza Tournament Edition Xbox 360 controller and its features could well give you the edge when playing BF3 on your Xbox 360.

Before running through the list of features we must tell you that this is almost identical to Razer’s Onza Tournament Edition controller, however it features some neat Battlefield 3 graphics to appeal to those of you who are looking forward to the release of EA DICE’s next first-person shooter. We have embedded some images below.

So what makes this controller so great? Well the resistance of the analog sticks can be adjusted to suit your needs, also the A, B, X and Y buttons are backlit and utilize hyperesponse technology which we guess respond quicker than standard Xbox 360 controllers. There are also two customizable buttons which you can set to undertake certain commands, we like the idea of these buttons being used instead of clicking in the analog sticks. Other features worth mentioning include its non-slip rubber surface, quick release USB connector and 15 foot lightweight braided cable.

As with the Batteflield 3 iPhone 4 case the controller will arrive on the game’s release date, 25th October, in the U.S. it will cost $59.99 and in the EU it will cost €59.99 – we would love to see a wireless version of this controller arrive but we are told that Microsoft licensing won’t allow this.

If you are sceptical about this controller you have to remember that in terms of physical design and functionality it is pretty much identical to the Razer Onza Tournament Edition, Cnet scored this 4/5 in their review and said “the Razer Onza Tournament Edition is easily one of the best third-party Xbox 360 controllers we’ve ever used”, that said user reviews aren’t so complimentary – especially when it comes to “clicking in” the analog sticks (L3 and R3).

Below we have embedded a larger image showing the Battlefield 3 Razer Onza Tournament Edition Xbox 360 controller in all its glory, will you buy one?

Everyday we seem to come across a new iPhone 4 case which is a bit more special than the last, today we have a new protection case which has been designed by Razer, usually Razer provides gamers with neat gaming peripherals and accessories, however its designers have turned their hand to smartphone covers and we must say we are impressed with what they have come up with.

Razer promote the case by saying “In war, a soldier is nothing without effective lines of communication and that’s why he keeps his tactical smartphone with him at all times. The Battlefield 3 iPhone 4 Protection Case by Razer is made from heavy-duty silicone designed in a rugged, military look to protect yours from the shocks of war. Then, call in air-strikes and reinforcements effectively to bring home the win”. Yes it is a bit gimmicky, but if you check out the case below you will see that it looks great.

In terms of features we are told that this case is made from heavy duty silicone which makes it rugged and will protect your iPhone 4 from the elements, the case also has a rubberized finish to help with grip. As you would expect the case has been perfectly crafted to ensure that all of the ports and buttons are accessible, also on the rear the camera and flash remain uncovered.

We are told that the Razer Battlefield 3 iPhone 4 Protection Case will be available from the 25th October (the same as the Battlefield 3 release date), in the U.S. it will cost $19.99 and in the EU it will cost €19.99 – will you treat yourself to this case?

You can see a high resolution image showing this case here, we wonder if Razer has any plans to release an iPhone 5 variant as we are led to believe that this next-gen iPhone will arrive next month (a month or so before BF3), we will keep you posted if we hear anything.

Computer peripheral manufacturer Razer USA has introduced some pretty impressive gaming accessories over the past few months including the Dragon Age II-themed limited edition DeathAdder mouse, the Star Wars: The Old Republic peripheral range (which includes a keyboard, mouse, headset and mouse mat) and Battlefield 3 / Mass Effect 3-themed gaming accessories.

What makes the Dragon Age 2-themed DeathAdder mouse stand out from the others is the fact that it comes with a red dragon and a red II etched onto the top. What’s impressive about the Star Wars: The Old Republic gaming accessories on the other hand is that they all come with interchangeable Sith Empire and Galactic Republic faction icons (you can read more about them here).

Today however we have news that will interest all you Transformers fans out there. According to Andrew Freedman over on the pcmag.com website, Razer has just unveiled its new Transformers 3 Collector’s Edition gaming peripherals. The new Transformers lineup consists of three different products: a laptop case, a dual-sided Razer Vespula mouse mat and a series of Razer DeathAdder mice.

First up is the series of DeathAdder mice, which come in Bumblebee, Optimus Prime, Shockwave and Megatron-themed color combinations, each being branded with the Decepticon or Autobot logo. The Transformers mice – which can be purchased for $69.99 from the manufacturer’s website – are designed for ergonomic, right-handed use and include a response time of 1ms and 3500 dpi.

Meanwhile, the Transformers-themed Razer Vespula mouse mat – which costs $44.99 – features two sides that gamers can choose from: a speed-increasing surface that features Autobot leader Optimus Prime and a side with a surface that is meant to increase control. The second side features an image of Decepticon leader Megatron. It also comes with a gel-filled wrist rest for added comfort.

The final product on the list is the Transformers laptop case, which holds laptops up to 15-inches. The cases feature a hard plastic shell, with padding on the inside for added protection. They come in exactly the same color schemes as the mice: yellow, red, purple and silver, and come with either the Autobot or Decepticon logo. The cases aren’t available at this stage, but do carry a price tag of $49.99.

Unfortunately the Transformers 3 Collector’s Edition gaming peripherals are only available in North America. Would you buy any of the Transformers-themed accessories?

When playing PC games some go to extreme lengths to ensure that they have the edge over their fellow competitors, over the years gaming mice have came on leaps and bounds, today we will introduce you to the new Razer Orochi Black Chrome Edition.

This new gaming mouse allows you to use Bluetooth 2.0 for wireless connectivity or a USB port, if you use the mouse wirelessly it will allow sensitivity of up to 2000DPI, 125Hz polling and an 8ms response time, gamers may want to plug in this mouse via the detachable USB cable, this gives the mouse up to 4000DPI sensitivity, 1000Hz Ultrapolling and a 1ms response time. One slight limitation is the fact that the USB cord is just three feet long.

In terms of design you can see some promotional photos here, it has a very sleek and futuristic look, we are told that it uses a gold-plated USB connector and a braided micro-USB cord, this suggests that Razer has paid lots of attention to detail. The mouse itself measures in at 99mm x 67.8mm x 35mm.

Razer say that to ensure long battery life you need to use high-performance batteries and you should turn the Orochi mouse off when you are not using it, this suggests that it does not come with rechargeable batteries which charge via the supplied USB cord, it may also mean that there is no built-in standby feature. Razer also tells us that its Bluetooth connectivity will be compatible with “most laptops”, this means that it does not come with a Bluetooth dongle and also may mean that is designed for gamers on the go apposed to desktop PC gamers.

You can check out the official product overview (here), it claims that its 3G laser sensor will keep track of movements 5 times faster than what a standard 800dpi optical sensor can, if you are worried about compatibility it will run on Windows 7, Vista and XP or Max OS X 10.4 or later.

Have you been won over by the Razer Orochi Black Chrome Edition gaming mouse? If so, you can buy it from Razer’s website here for $79.99, we think that the time is right to buy a decent mouse as Modern Warfare 3 and Battlefield 3 are being released before the year is out.
