The new Razer Edge Pro is certainly making a statement in the technology space, which those behind this tablet hope it will appeal to the PC gamer. We have seen a lot of complaints from gamers when it comes to gaming on tablet PCs, especially the iPad and Android variations, but some of the issues people have might be solved with the Razer Edge.

First Person Shooter games are not the best type of game to play on a tablet, so this is where the extra control options and sticks come in handy with the Razer Edge gaming tablet. You can see some photos in an earlier article that reveal the different ways to play on the Razer Edge and higher spec Pro version.

Today we wanted to highlight a couple of videos that landed in our inbox, which showcase the Razer Edge Pro and what it can do. These promotional videos were sent to us by Razer themselves, so they will show the tablet in a positive light.

The new video can be seen above this article and it promotes the idea of playing on a tablet how you want, which is done easily with the Razer Edge Pro thanks to the different configurations.

Razer’s black and white video shows streaming your Edge Pro tablet direct to the big screen, and also some other ways to play with the Razer Edge. Take a look at that video and another here, which talks about the main specs, then leave a comment with your thoughts on this rather expensive gaming tablet.

A year on from the initial Project Fiona craze at CES 2012, Razer are back in Las Vegas at CES 2013 and this time, their tablet is now ready for release during the first quarter of this year. Project Fiona has now become the Razer Edge and we have some more solid details on the diverse tablet to share with you, although some of you may ultimately be put off by the rather high price tag that you’ll have to pay in order to take one of these luxury tablets home.

Last year in January, we showed you an initial video demoing the new Project Fiona tablet which proudly boasted the fact that it could play Skyrim on optimum settings. It has obviously been 12 months since then and the tablet has grown and matured into the Edge – a diverse tablet designed for PC gamers that has the ability to transform into different playing styles depending on your mood.

For example, you can just use the Razer Edge as a standard tablet using Windows 8 and a variety of on-board applications such as Netflix, Spotify, Skype and many more. The big focus is gaming though and aside from using the two Gamepad controllers located on the sides of the Edge as seen last year, Razer has now unveiled two other ways in which the Edge can be utilized.

You can buy a keyboard dock to have the Edge function as a full PC, or you can even hook the Edge up to a TV and use the system as a home console using some included controllers. It all looks very slick and the new features have been highlighted in a teaser video which we’ve added below.

We can also give you an update on what hardware specs the Edge will possess. There will be two versions to choose from – the Razr Edge or the Razer Edge Pro. The basic version will ship with an Intel Core i5 processor, Nvidia GT640M LE GPU, 4GB of DDR3 RAM and a 64GB SSD. If you want to get the premium version, you can pay more money for better specs, as the Edge Pro will add an Intel Core i7 processor, 8GB of DDR3 RAM and a 128GB SSD instead.

Naturally, such impressive hardware and design will come at a premium and you’ll need to be prepared to pay $999 for the basic version of the device. The upgraded version costs $1299 and for that price you’d think that you would at least get one of the bundled accessories to make the deal bit sweeter. However, Razer has confirmed that they will all be sold separately and the prices for each gaming mode are not exactly cheap either.

The GamePad add-on costs an extra $249, the Keyboard attachment will be $199 while an extra $99 will be needed for the standard dock. Add everything together and you are looking at paying close to $2000 USD for the premium configuration with all of the accessories. Is that price range a bit on the expensive side, considering that next-generation consoles from Sony and Microsoft will be available for a fraction of that price?

There’s no denying that the product looks great, but consumers may want to see some discounts first before taking the plunge. Let us know your initial impressions of the device and whether you’ll be buying the Razer Edge later this year or not.
