Rayman Legends is looking like one of the standout games of 2013, despite the fact that Ubisoft delayed to game on Wii U to make it multiplatform on PS3 and Xbox 360. This week, we have another indiction just how beautiful the game is looking, with the release of a new gameplay trailer that shows off some underwater levels for the first time.

Everyone loves a co-op platformer and Rayman Legends is arguably going to be challenging New Super Mario Bros on the Wii U as the best platforming game on the system. Up to four friends can take part in the frantic action, with even an additional player slot available as Murfy using the Wii U GamePad.

Failing that, the game is also coming to PS3 and Xbox 360 as well with co-op support, with Ubisoft now on course for an all platform release on August 30 in the UK and a few days after in the US – makes a change. Ubisoft has unveiled the ’20,000 lums under the sea’ trailer, giving you a look at some of the water levels in the game.

The artwork is simply breath-taking and you really have to sit back and admire how good the game really looks. We’re actually surprised that Ubisoft has not expanded into a Rayman cartoon series yet, as we have a feeling it would be a big hit with the younger audience.

The video also gives a detailed look into the new female character Barbara for the first time as well, so that will be good news for female Rayman fans wanting to play through the game as her. Don’t forget that you can already play a Rayman Legends demo now, exclusively on the Wii U version – it’s available from the eShop.

Watch the stunning footage above and let us know if you are going to have to fit Rayman Legends in as well, with your busy Fall 2013 gaming purchases.

We have some very exciting rumors to share with PS Vita owners now, as it looks like one massive game could be turning up on Sony’s promising handheld towards the end of the year. Rayman Legends was initially announced as a Wii U exclusive, before recently being converted into a multiplatform game on PS3 and Xbox.

Now we see the first piece of evidence that Rayman Legends is coming to the PS Vita as well, with the discovery of an online listing from Spanish retailer FNAS.es. As far as we’re aware, this is the first sniff of information that we have had on a possible version for the PS Vita and although we’ve heard nothing from Sony or Ubisoft – it would be a very logical move if it did happen.

That is due to the fact that Rayman Legends would look amazing on the 5-inch OLED screen, just like Rayman Origins does at the moment – arguably the best game out on the PS Vita above all other competition. Rayman is just a perfect fit on handheld and we’re guessing Ubisoft senses this with the success of Origins so far.

Could this be one of the planned Ubisoft announcements for E3 2013 perhaps in June? It really wouldn’t surprise us if this emerged to be true, but for now it still remains a rumor until we see some more conclusive evidence. Ubisoft has already set a release date of September 27 on Wii U, Xbox 360 and PS4.

Don’t forget that Rayman Legends is also a direct sequel to Rayman Origins, so perhaps it would be a travesty anyway if we didn’t see the sequel on PS Vita as well. We would certainly like to see this happen, so let’s hope Ubisoft announce the news soon.

How many of you have played and loved Rayman Origins on the PS Vita? Are you ready to buy Rayman Legends as well if it happens?

While a lot of Wii U owners may be still unhappy over the situation involving Rayman Legends, we have fresh information this week revealing that the Ubisoft Montpellier development team hasn’t wasted any time in adding new content during the delay. The game was originally expected to release as a Wii U launch title last year, but will now release as a multi-platform title instead in September.

The feeling may still be of anger towards Ubisoft, the publisher that is, but the development team behind the game has given new optimism that the delay will be worth it in a way – with the confirmation that 30 new levels, as well as brand new bosses have been added to the game during the delay period.

That means that Rayman Legends is going to feature more content than originally planned and it in a way gives the game a happy ending overall. Of course, it’s not nice seeing a once exclusive game go multiplatform, but Ubisoft has made the decision and at least the developers are making the most out of the situation.

Meanwhile, we can also tell you that a second Rayman Legends demo is going live at the end of April, exclusively on the Wii U. This demo will include an early preview at the online challenge modes in the game and more importantly a level called Murfy’s dungeon which Ubisoft has said is exclusive to the Wii U version.

Don’t forget that the challenge mode is going to be updated weekly and monthly upon release in September, so Rayman Legends is definitely shaping up to be the best Rayman game in history. Let us know your thoughts now after the dust has settled a bit over the delay.

Are you over it now, or still a little angry?

Rayman Legends is considered to be one of the big hopes on Wii U this year, despite the fact that the game has gone from being a Nintendo exclusive, to a multiplatform release on PS3 and Xbox 360 as well. Ubisoft are still adamant though that the Wii U version will perform well, recently going as far to say that Rayman Legends will become a ‘system seller’.

As you can imagine, there is still a lot of disappointment in the air over Ubisoft’s decision to release the game on other platforms. The overall factor though is that Rayman Legends is still going to be a fantastic game to pick up, and from what we have seen from the Wii U demo, the visuals are absolutely stunning.

It is definitely the kind of game that the Nintendo needs to repeat if the system is going hold its own once the inevitable barrage happens as Sony and Microsoft release their respective next-gen efforts as well. Ubisoft’s Xavier Poix has been speaking in detail about Rayman Legends and has brought up two interesting points to GamesIndustry.Biz.

Firstly, he has said that the Wii U hardware is of a higher standard than Xbox 360 or PS3 – not the first time that we have heard advantages of the Wii U hardware over current-gen consoles. More importantly though, he also believes that Rayman Legends will turn out to be a system seller for Wii U hardware, adding that Nintendo just need to release more games of the same calibre to stay healthy.

While this is encouraging news for Wii U owners, we haven’t seen what the game looks like on PS3 and Xbox 360 yet. Will it be the same quality, or will the Wii U version remain the best build to pick up? Another factor that consumers will be thinking of is – why pick up the Wii U version if Rayman Legends is transferrable over to the Sony PS4 and Xbox 720?

If Rayman Legends is on your shopping list this year, let us know if you think the game has the power to improve Wii U hardware sales.

It looks like there is some good news for Wii U owners at last, in specific relation to Rayman Legends and the huge disappointment after the game has been delayed by Ubisoft in order to take the game multi-platform. The developers for the game have announced that a new online mode is coming to Rayman Legends and will be available to download exclusively on the Wii U in a couple of months.

Don’t forget that Rayman Legends is now officially due out on Xbox 360, PS3 and Nintendo Wii at the same time in September. We told you recently that an exclusive demo was coming in the meantime to Wii U to make up for the delay, but now it looks like this will be replaced by the online mode – which looks a lot more worthwhile and content rich.

This online challenges mode is releasing in April, essentially giving Wii U owners a great head start on the game before Xbox 360 and PS3 owners. The mode will support up to 5 players simultaneously, with users having to complete certain challenges and objectives to compete on the active online leaderboards.

A gameplay demonstration of the online mode has been provided by Ubisoft and gives you a basic idea of what will be coming. The most appealing point that we can see, aside from the glorious graphics, is that challenges are going to be updated daily and weekly, meaning that Wii U owners should have something to keep them busy until the full game is out in September.

The download is also going to be free as well which is fantastic, and will be available from the eShop sometime in April. Has this mended the wounds somewhat in your opinion, or are you still pretty outraged that the higher up execs at Ubisoft still won’t give the green light for the finished game to release?

Either way, we think it’s a pretty good compromise considering it is free. Watch the action and let us know if you have changed your views yet.

The fallout on the finished version of Rayman Legends on the Wii U which hasn’t been released to the public, is continuing. After Ubisoft attempted to release a new demo for Wii U owners by way of apology, the developers for the game are now siding with the fans, requesting publisher Ubisoft to release the game and end the turmoil.

At the moment, fans cannot understand why Ubisoft has decided to hold back the finished Wii U version of the game, with the main reason only being because they want to release the game at the same time as the newly announced PS3 and Xbox 360 versions. In case you were thinking that the delay is any fault of the developer, the creators of the game have decided to set the story straight by revealing that it is actually the ‘big suits and ties’ at publisher Ubisoft who the blame should rest with.

The development team at Ubisoft Monpellier have released two photos, showing off banners of a crying Rayman and messages to their bosses requesting that they release the game. They have also asked for fans to support the developers of the game and understand the situation that they find themselves in – having finished development on the game, but now having to go back to work on another Wii U demo at the request of Ubisoft.

The big question now though, is whether Ubisoft will give in to the mounting pressure and release the finished Wii U version. It would be a logical move to do you would think and definitely cast Ubisoft in a more positive light as they look to remove all of the negative limelight away from them.

Where do you stand on this? Should Ubisoft just release the game and end all of the negative atmosphere surrounding the game? If you picked up the Wii U at launch just for this game, give us an idea on how you are feeling right now.

We have some more news to bring you now on the fallout that has occurred among Wii U owners, after Ubisoft confirmed that they are delaying Rayman Legends again, due to the decision to now make the game a multiplatform release on Xbox 360 and PS3 in September. Ubisoft has attempted to ease some of the platform pain by revealing that another demo is on the way to Wii U owners soon.

It is unlikely to stop all of the complaints that are going on right now though, given the fact that most Wii U owners are under the assumption that their version of the game is completed, but is now being held back to accomodate a simultaneous release across all platforms.

Ubisoft has said that they are now working on a new demo for the game, one that will be exclusive to the Wii U as a way of an apology over the frustration that this has caused. However, if you head over to the comment section of the Facebook message that Ubisoft posted, you’ll see that angry Wii U owners are simply not willing to let this go just because they are getting a new demo.

We’ve noticed that a petition has already been set up over the last few days, asking Ubisoft to release the Wii U version at the end of February as originally planned. So far, there is over 7,500 signatures amassed with just 2,500 needed to reach the first target.

We’ve also seen some user replies exploring the possibility on whether a lawsuit against Ubisoft for false advertising is with merit or not. It seems a little drastic, but then again Ubisoft could have avoided all of the mess by just sticking to their release schedule for the Wii U version, regardless of whether they aim to bring the game to Xbox 360 and PS3 or not.

What are your feelings towards Ubisoft now, having seen events unfold over the last few days. Are you still livid that Rayman Legends is being held back on the Wii U to push other versions for the extra cash? How will this affect Ubisoft and Nintendo’s relationship moving forward in the future of the console?

What is going on with the Wii U at the moment we wonder? Hours after informing you about Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor’s Edge releasing on the PS3 and Xbox 360, it appears the same thing has happened with another game that was once thought to be a Wii U exclusive only. The highly anticipated Rayman Legends game from Ubisoft has now become a multiplatform game, releasing on Wii U, PS3 and Xbox 360 at the same time later on in the year.

Ninja Gaiden jumping ship was bad news for Nintendo, but you can argue that this is much worse. This is due to the fact that Rayman Legends was actually supposed to release on the Wii U as a launch title at the end of last year. It didn’t happen though due to whatever reasons Ubisoft needed and instead of releasing at the end of February with a new release schedule, that idea has now been scrapped altogether too.

It appears that Ubisoft has had a major decision to make, as Rayman Legends now has a simultaneous release across all platforms in September. It means that the Wii U has lost two third-party exclusives in the space of a few days, and we wouldn’t be surprised if the same thing happens to Bayonetta 2 in the future as well.

Nintendo had said at the launch of their Wii U that a big focus would be placed on securing more third-party game support than what we had seen with the original Wii. Black Ops 2 and Assassin’s Creed 3 were great examples of this, but now it looks like the picture has changed drastically and Nintendo will obviously need to get back to work to secure more exclusives throughout the year.

If you are a Wii U owner and expected Rayman Legends to stay exclusive to your console, what is your reaction to the news of the game going multiplatform? Expect more information on the game soon.

We have seen some mesmerizing tech demos at E3 showing the next-generation of gaming graphics potential, but for some users, all it takes is a simple 2D platformer with a tried and tested formula to put a smile on your face.

The new Rayman Legends game for the Nintendo Wii U definitely falls into that category and we’re pleased to say that following on from the brilliant Rayman Origins – it looks even better from a visual point of view.

Ubisoft generously showed off a decent portion of the upcoming game at E3 and we now have the key gameplay from that reveal for you below. If you played Rayman Origins, it’s essentially more of the same stuff although there is now a much bigger emphasis on teamwork as playing together and activating certain features in levels will determine the total number of lums at the end of each level.

Unsurprisingly, Rayman Legends will also feature some unique functionality on the Wii U touchscreen controller. For example, you can swipe the touchscreen to perform co-op moves and solve certain puzzles in advance to make the gameplay for the player using the TV, more easier. Watch at 1.00 into the video to see the gameplay effortlessly switch from 2D to semi-3D and further on in the video we get a confirmation from Ubisoft that the game will support a five-player co-op mode – the video shown here only displays two players for the moment.

Since Rayman Origins released on Xbox 360 and PS3, the obvious question that console owners are asking now, is whether Rayman Legends will be coming to other platforms as well. Right now, Ubisoft are only showing the Wii U version so it is still up in the air on whether Nintendo has a timed-exclusive release on this, or if Ubisoft will announce in the coming weeks that it will launch simultaneously on other platforms too.

Although it would be fantastic if this ends up a Nintendo Wii U exclusive, we have a feeling that Ubisoft won’t be able to resist bringing the game to other platforms. Rayman seems to be back in everyone’s good books at the moment, especially PS Vita owners who are currently loving the gorgeous port of Origins.

Take a look at the gameplay below and let us know your early impressions of the game. Five player co-op is a massive feature for us, but will this be possible on other platforms as well?
