Over the years there have been a number of topless Land Rover vehicles, but none had the kind of looks that would make you turn your head and think wow. However, that could all be about to change if rumors of a Range Rover Evoque come off. This will be a first for the company, as the vehicle does have the looks to pull it off.

We cannot say for certain if this will happen, but Autoblog has said that this could be the special Victoria Beckham edition. If this is the case, then this will make the car an even tougher sell for men. It is no secret that VB has a flair for fashion, so one would expect a few feminine touches here and there, but we worry that Land Rover are allowing themselves to alienate the male market.

The Evoque convertible will be aimed at two models, the Nissan Murano CrossCabriolet and the yet to be announced Audi Q5 cabrio. Choosing between the three is not hard at all, number three will be the Nissan, number two the Range Rover and number one is the Audi. Now you may wonder why we went with this choice?

Well, the Murano CrossCabriolet has no style at all, and since these drop tops are all about how they look, it just seems a little pointless. Then the Evoque; personally I have never been a fan of these kind of vehicles, but Land Rover need to forget making these hideous versions – yes the Sport as well – and concentrate on what they are good at, and that is off-road vehicles. Do not take my word for it; even the guys on Top Gear think the same.

The rumored Audi Q5 cabrio looks the best of the bunch, even if its styling is still questionable. The front end looks like a Humpback Whale opening its mouth ready to take in some krill. While gazing a little longer I am reminded of a Boyd Coddington creation – looks like Audi might have themselves a hot-rod.

We are not too certain as to how sales have been going for the Evoque, but they will be boosted once it makes its way to the US, which we know will be in just a few months. We can see it being very popular in LA, as well as with rappers – well only the female ones.

Do you think that the Range Rover Evoque Victoria Beckham special edition will be a convertible?

Back in September Land Rover commissioned four artists to create a wireframe model of the Range Rover Evoque. Now for the 2011 Geneva Motor Show Land Rover has used artist Benedict Radcliffe version of the Evogue.

Jeff Glucker from autoblog is reporting that the wireframe model is meant to show how customers can personalize the Evoque with various options which are available. The wireframe model can be disassembled into several smaller pieces that are to highlight the different options customers have.

The model has 3D wheels and front and back seats all manufactured from steel, which have been painted in bright colors including neon pink and lime green. All the components are suspended in a wireframe box which creates a life size wireframe model.

As the pieces are taken apart they each form individual stand alone pieces of art. Artist Radcliffe has been a major player in creating the wireframe concept for Land Rover. He has advised on the creation of various sculptures that have been showcased across the world.

You can see a video about how Benedict Radcliffe comes up with his wireframe artwork below.

Back in July we learned that Land Rover was to launch the Range Rover Evoque, which is to be the smallest from their range. We then learned earlier this week that the new vehicle was officially announced by the British carmaker – although they are Indian owned.

For those who do not know, there is to be three versions of the Range Rover Evoque: Pure, Prestige and Dynamic. So let us take a look to see how the three differ from each other.

The Pure looks a lot like a concept vehicle with its remarkable design both inside and out. The overall design is both simple and pure – hence the name.

Next up is the Prestige; this offers the best in luxury. 19-inch wheels come as standard, but an upgrade to 20-inch wheels is a must. The interior of the Range Rover Evoque is premium everywhere you look, with its mix of wood, leather and metal.

Finally we have the Dynamic, which also offers either 19 or 20-inch wheels, and with its other exterior features has a stance that makes you know you’re driving a crossover from one of the best in the business. Once Land Rover make the Range Rover Evoque, you then have the tough choice to make of what model you will want from the three above.

Back in August we offered details of the upcoming Range Rover Evoque – due for release in summer 2011. It was only a matter of time before the Indian owned company would show off some official pictures for the press to see, which I believe is to wet our appetite ahead of the 2010 Paris Auto Show.

There is no denying that Land Rover has gone for a bold design on this one, and for good reason. The range of CUVs hitting the market is getting more adventurous with their designs – so the Evoque had to offer something special. Looking at these first official images that appear on the Telegraph website, I would say that they have certainly done that, but what do you think?

What makes the Evoque different compared to other models in the range is that it will come with front-wheel drive. Doing away with four-wheel drive will help please those who wants to cut down on CO2 emissions.

There is a choice of two 2.2-litre diesel engines, with one producing just 130g/km of CO2, for those wanting a more grunt then there is a more powerful version. Do you think that the Range Rover Evoque will be popular, or is the design to radical for the company?

In the past Range Rover vehicles have always been huge boxes on wheels, the company has tried a few styling revisions – but the shape has basically remained the same. However, there is now a baby version coming called Evoque and looks every bit as nice as the LRX concept that we saw two-years ago.

Range Rover unveiled the new SUV yesterday, with Victoria Beckham on hand to give the preview some celebrity clout. We learned so much from the preview, such as its rumored price as well as 32 images, which you can see over at MSN Cars.

The Range Rover Evoque comes with a number of options, such as three and five-door – although the latter will come later. It is assumed that the starting price will be £30,000, but we will get conformation on this at a later date.

The new baby model is a welcome break from the gas guzzling models that are already on the market – this new model will emit just under 130g/km of CO2. This will be the first time that you would ever see a Range Rover achieve over 50mpg.

In the past Range Rover’s has been more of a man’s vehicle – with the help of Vogue at yesterdays launch that could be about to change. View the photos via the MSN link above and let us know what you think.
