If you love your handheld gaming devices, than you’re going to love the news we have for you today.
Sony has officially reduced the PSP Go price by $50 dollars, making it possible to grab yourself one for just $150.

This follows a recent price drop for the original PSP. It seems Sony is cleaning up in preparation for the hotly anticipated NGP which is due sometime this year, possibly during the holiday season.

Although the price cut has no official explanation Electronista seem to think it has the ‘same motives’ the reason for dropping the original PSP price. They believe Sony want to attract buyers who would have just held off until the NGP arrived otherwise. Find out what other reasons they thought of by clicking above.

Our guess is the aim of the reduction is presumably to boost sales too, but the previous price cuts to the Entertainment Company’s devices have proved somewhat of a disappointment when it comes to bumping up sales numbers.

Do you think this new price reduction will make a big difference to sales of the PSP Go? Do you think the prices will drop any further before the NGP finally arrives? Let us know what you think below.

It’s been quite a while since we brought you news of a firmware update for Sony’s PSP gaming system (over a year to be more precise), but it now looks like PSP owners are in luck. The company announced yesterday that version 6.35 would be arriving soon, and low and behold it arrived today.

According to Sebastian Moss over at playstationlifestyle.net, version 6.35 is only a minor update, which just prepares your PSP for the upcoming “Music Unlimited powered by Qriocity,” a cloud-based music service that will provide Sony PlayStation portable owners with access to millions of songs.

The update is now available to download, but the only noticeable change at the moment is the “Music Unlimited powered by Qriocity” logo that has appeared on the PSP’s music menu. If you try going on the logo, it just leads to a web page that displays a message reading “coming soon.”

As reported yesterday on the playstation.com blog, the Media Go app for managing your PlayStation Portable DLC on a PC is also being updated with version 6.35, with advanced photo editing tools and enhancements to the PSP’s UI. What changes were you hoping for in the firmware update?

We have some exciting news for those of you interested in picking up the next-generation PSP, as Sony has let slip some details about the company looking to hire developers with experience in the mobile Android department.

According to this report from Joystiq, the new job listing has come specifically from Sony’s Playstation department, and the listing, which some parts have now been deleted can be seen in it’s original form below:

”Highly Desirable: Experience in mobile development, specifically Android is a plus.
Knowledge/Experience of online gaming”

Considering that the Android part of that listing has now been removed, is that an indication that Sony didn’t want anyone to see this?

We all know a PSP 2 is coming sooner or later, but will the device combine Sony Ericsson phone features along with Playstation gaming facilities? You would like to think so wouldnt you?

Personally, I think a PSP phone is coming. I mean, what else can these details mean? It has come directly from the Playstation department and specifically asks for someone with Android experience.

Stay tuned for further updates.
