Even though consumers are not spending as much money as they once were, this will not stop the masses congregating in one place in just under two weeks time. CES 2013 will be no different and will be a chance for consumer technology fans to see what the big and little players have got planned. We already know that LG already have some great products to show off, such as a new range of TVs, but it’s their LG “HECTO” Laser TV projector that has gained our interest.

Looking over the press release it’s clear to see that this projector will be pretty impressive, and that will be shown during a demonstration that will help to show of its capabilities, which includes an unbelievable home theater experience along with Smart TV capabilities and improved reliability. The first feature that is sure to impress projector fans is how you will be able to achieve a 100-inch display from just 22 inches away from the screen, which will open up the option of getting a projector to a greater number of consumers who have been limited with space in their homes.

Projectors have come a long way since those days back in school in the 80’s and the HECTO Laser TV projector from LG with its dynamic contrast ratio of 1,000,000:1, 1080p Full HD resolution and its laser-based illumination system that is said to offer more than 25,000 hours of use before there is a need to replace the lamp shows that the advancement in this technology shows no signs of stopping.

How much are you willing to pay for the LG “HECTO” Laser TV projector? While LG has not given any clues as to the price of their upcoming projector, we should get some sort of indication of the LG “HECTO” Laser TV price during CES 2013, along with the full spec list as well. We should warn you that considering the amount of features being packed into this projector will reflect on the price, so it will not be cheap, as this is certainly looking to be a high-end device.

While we see lots of 3D TV sets being launched we haven’t seen much in the way of 3D projectors being released. The 3D experience has yet to be fully embraced by most consumers with many seeing it as a short term gimmick. But that doesn’t stop manufacturers bringing out new tech as the Panasonic PT-AT5000E full HD 3D LCD projector is revealed.

It’s the world’s first full HD 3D LCD projector available and according to What-HiFi Sound and Vision will be in stores from September. The design of the actual body of the projector has now got a more curved look which makes it more pleasing to the eye, but inside the unit is full of upgraded technology.

The new 200w red rich lamp promises to deliver a more dynamic, yet more colorful picture experience. The brightness is claimed to be 2000 lumens with a contrast ratio of 300,000:1, and the life of the lamp should be extended with improved internal cooling. This should achieve 4000 hours of normal viewing which is around double of older models.

The new 480Hz Panel Drive Technology is thought to deliver a smooth and comfortable 3D experience as well as eliminating crosstalk. This has been a priority with the company when developing the unit with Panasonic spending a lot of time on it.

The unit will make use of Panasonic’s existing active-shutter 3D glasses which are also used for the company’s 3D TVs. They have an infrared sensor built-in to one side of the lens. The company claims that the 3D transmitter will work at a distance of up to 6 meters, but if that is not enough an external transmitter will also be available to increase the range.

The projector has 2D to 3D conversion and Viera Link inside, as well as three HDMI sockets. Panasonic debuted the projector at its Hollywood Laboratory in Los Angeles that has been part of 3D Blu-ray standards. Engineers at the laboratory have had a big part to play with development of the projector.

The Panasonic projector will cost $3,499 in the US, while in Europe it will cost 3199 Euros no UK pricing has been revealed at present. It remains to be seen how consumers will take to the unit considering the price, but larger venues and establishments who show 3D content may be interested.

Would you rather own a 3D projector than a 3DTV?

Manufacturers are pushing 3DTV a lot this year with numerous sets becoming available. The technology hasn’t been taken up by the consumer as much as the companies would like, but it doesn’t seem to deter the manufacturers from releasing new products. Now a new midrange 3D projector is announced by Sony.

The company launched their first 3D projector late last year the VPL-VW90ES which costs a call $10,000/£6,000. But Sony have now announced a more affordable option the VPL-HW30ES, but it will still set you back around $4,626/2,937 according to an article on What Hi-Fi.

It has a dynamic lamp control system which is claimed offers images which are three times brighter than the VPL-VW90ES. The projector uses lighter 3D active shutter glasses that are claimed by Sony provide a more comfortable viewing experience.

The new Sony projector can also turn your 2D content into 3D material, and is set to hit the market sometime next month. It might be a cheaper alternative from Sony but it is still a lot of money to fork out, and you still need to purchase extra glasses if all the family wants to watch. If money was no object would you purchase a 3D projector?

The Spice Projector Mobile has proved very popular in India, but for those who are still undecided we thought we would offer you a review of the M9000 projection handset. Below you will find a video where they get up close and personal with the device. You will already know from a recent post that it is the price that has played a major part in the phones success.

The video does not give you much insight, but it does show off the projector. We tried to find a video with better quality, but this is the best that we could find – just hope that it is enough? You can see the Spice Projector Mobile being projected on to a wall, which is not only showing a cartoon of some sort, but also some of the phones settings.

We have to warn you that the phone is in the landscape position, so you might get a bad neck trying to angle your head in the hope of making out some of the different settings. One other thing, we are sorry for the soundtrack, best mute the volume.

The best way to review the Spice M-9000 Popkorn Projector Mobile is to have a read of the manual, which you can download here. There are 24 sections in all, with the first part all about how to understand the new phone. We have to remind you that the specs are not that impressive, but just consider that you are not only getting a more than capable phone for the Indian market, but also a projector as well. For more details visit Spice Global.

Would you sacrifice specs in order to have a projector on your phone?

The new Spice Projector Mobile M9000 Popkorn is now available to buy, and the price in India is just Rs.6999. This is said to be the first of its kind to hit the Asian market, and as such has seen a huge TV campaign to try and show consumers in the country just how unique of a device it will be for them.

India is fast becoming a nation who wants nothing more than to have all the latest technology, but is the M9000 Popkorn considered by you to be such a device? Recent reviews suggest that it could do very well, and looking at the specs it is not hard to see why. OK, the main specs will not stand up against all the latest that Android has to offer, but it is the inclusion of that projector that is seen as the icing on the cake.

Some of the features include a 3.2 Megapixel Camera, 2.4 inch TFT Display, Dual SIM GSM, TV antenna. However, it is the included tripod that makes it all the more special. This is needed to keep the device steady while you use the projector on the handset – nothing worse than a shaky image.

You can clearly see in the video of the TV commercial below for the Spice Popkor Projector Mobile, which was aired on 20th March that the company wanted to hit a huge target audience. One would have to say that this was achieved, as it was shown during the World Cup Cricket match between India and the West Indies. For more details on this handset visit Spice Mobile.

Who would have thought that the cheap components found in an LCD projector could be used to control the brain circuits of lab animals? Well that’s just what Georgia Institute of Technology researchers have done, so how was they able to control these animals, including worms?

The idea of controlling animals is not a new one, this has been done before but on bigger animals, and they also had an optical fiber, which was placed into its brain. Being able to do this by just using the red, blue and green from a projector is something that baffles the hell out of you or I. However, Chris Jablonski from ZDNET aims to explain it as easily as possible.

For those looking for an easier explanation then Georgia Tech has come up with a unique way of explaining how the LCD projector works on these animals. The three lights mentioned above are genetically engineered into the creature, when they turn the neurons on and off, which is how the muscles react.

We are not certain what the use of this will be, but if we were to guess then it could help people who have been paralyzed. The most common reason what causes paralysis is the signal not getting to and from the brain, we imagine that this could act as some sort of bypass.
