The moment has arrived for Skyrim players on PC, as just like we mentioned earlier, the long awaited Creation Kit is now available for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. Along with it is the Steam workshop, and if you take a look at what’s on offer, you’ll see that there is a surprise waiting for you.

The main surprise that Bethesda was teasing with their Creation Kit turned out to be a high-resolution texture pack which you can read about here, but there was one more surprise which awaits those who enter the Steam Workshop for the first time.

It comes in the form of Portal 2′s favorite space core Weasely, as Bethesda has worked behind the scenes with Valve to make his appearance in Skyrim possible – and it looks great. Once you have installed the mod, he will even act as a companion and follow you around on your many adventures within the Skyrim universe. If you played Portal 2 and are interested in picking this up, you should head to the Steam Workshop head and search for a mod called ‘Fall of the Space Core, Vol. 1′.

Yes, you read that correctly. There is a volume 1 there so who knows, we may be seeing further collaborations between Valve and Bethesda to put even more Portal 2 content in Skyrim. We’re guessing that doesn’t rule out the possibility of other Valve properties appearing either – Gordon Freeman mod anyone? Perhaps we will leave that to you to create using the new tools.

For those of you that are just getting started, you may want to the official Creation Kit website here to start reading some tutorials. Just so you’re aware, these are some pretty heavy tools, with Bethesda stating that these are more or less the exact tools that they used to make the entire game, and now you can have access to them completely free.

Once you’ve got started, you’ll want to bookmark the Steam Workshop page here. Searching for mods has been made very easy, as you’ll see that mods are divided into separate categories, such as quests, armor, dungeons, weapons and even WORLDS. The Portal 2 mod is already one of the most popular downloads at the moment, but there’s something for everyone there – already over 300 mods available on the workshop in the space of a few hours, amazing.

If you have already downloaded the Portal 2 mod, let us know your thoughts on it. Also, what other mods would you recommend to others?

Each year there are plenty of great games being released to tempt gamers to part with their cash. Titles get their own set of fans that claim it is the best available. The Golden Joystick Awards 2011 have just been announced with Portal 2 being named as the ultimate game of the year, but it is a worthy winner?

The first-person puzzle game managed to beat competition from the likes of Gran Turismo 5 and Call of Duty: Black Ops. According to the BBC there were over two million votes made across fourteen categories, with organizers claiming it to be the biggest award ceremony of its kind in the world.

This year though there was no stand out title that won more than one award, with Angry Birds winning the mobile award for the Rio edition. Black Ops was by far the biggest seller during the past year, but only picked up the best shooter award. FIFA 11 managed to bag the best sports category award beating PES 2011.

An old favorite Sonic The Hedgehog won the outstanding contribution award twenty years after it was first released. The one to watch gong went to Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim ahead of next month’s release, while Portal 2 was praised for its humor.

The puzzle platform game sees players take on the challenge of trying to get through a series of chambers, which is done with a special gun to create the portals. Do you agree with the choice? If not take part in our poll and tell us what you think should have won.

Portal 2 has been out for a couple of weeks and we have seen lots of interesting surrounding the game, some people are looking for Portal 2 cheats which really defeat the purpose of the game, whilst others are looking for a complete Portal 2 walkthrough, we have recenty come across lots of videos put together by a YouTube user called TheMediaCows.

The effort that TheMediaCows has put into these videos is nothing short of amazing, so if you think the videos helped you perhaps consider subscribing to his YouTube channel and liking his videos.

There are 18 videos in total split into parts, click on the following links for the relevant videos (they are in order covering from level 1 to level 16 along with the boss battle and end credits): Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4, Part 5, Part 6, Part 7, Part 8, Part 9, Part 10, Part 11, Part 12, Part 13, Part 14, Part 15, Part 16, Part 17, Part 18 and finally Part 19. If you are interested you can also watch the end credits.

Hopefully these video guides will help any of you who have been stuck on the same part of Portal 2 for a long time, we suggest that you do your best without using the videos and only give in if you really can’t beat a level, I guess its all up to the individual to decide whether they wish to cheat and watch all of the videos, will you?

If you own a PC and a copy of Valve Corporation’s hugely popular Portal 2 game, the chances are you may already be aware that the developer has recently released a patch. However, if you haven’t been on the game for a while, you might want to know what the latest update involves.

As recently noted over on the store.steampowered.com website, the latest Portal 2 PC patch includes improvements and fixes for a number of issues that gamers were reporting, including the crash and / or graphical glitches that occurred after players changed the video settings without exiting the game.

The latest update should have also fixed the issue where players were getting stuck at the beginning of chapter 6, as well as the problem where the mouse cursor wouldn’t highlight UI elements in the game on Mac OS X and the issue in which the game would crash when trying to use other weapons.

It is also said to have fixed the occasional crash that seemed to occur after Alt-Tab / minimizing or running in a window on specific graphics hardware, as well as various localization bugs and improvements. It has also removed unsupported console commands that appeared to cause issues when used.

You can read more about the changes within the new patch via the store.steampowered.com link. Have you been experiencing any of the issues mentioned?

We have some important news for those of you with a copy of Portal 2 on either the PC, PS3 or Xbox 360, as Valve has just confirmed that the first DLC for the game will release sometime during the Summer, although they are not willing to give specific details on the content just yet.

Valve’s Vice President of Marketing Doug Lombardi confirmed the exciting news in a recent interview over at FastCompany. In it, he confirmed it would be available in the next few months, adding that details on the content are coming soon – as stated below:

“We will be announcing some DLC for it, so folks can keep a look out for more content coming this summer. We’ll be putting more details out about that in a week or so.”

The question on everyone’s minds though, is will Valve be adding more content specifically to the Single player or Co-Op modes? We bet that most of you are hoping that it’s co-op, it would be fantastic if they add new stuff to both – that definitely would be a good buy for Portal 2 owners.

Hopefully Sony sort out security issues on the PS3 though, before users take the plunge with their credit cards to pay for the new Portal 2 content. Are you planning to pay for Portal 2 DLC?

Portal 2 is already available to buy in the US and if you have read some reviews for the game, you’ll know that the game has received fantastic reviews, with many publications giving Portal 2 a perfect score. However, this is contrast to what some gamers are saying about Valve’s long awaited sequel.

While it’s a known fact that many gamers wait until they read reviews from respected publications such as IGN and Eurogamer, it’s also a common fact that Metacritic scores have the final say on the game, and for those who are yet to pick up Portal 2, you may be in for a shock.

The current Metacritic score stands at 7.2 for the game, but the amount of negative reviews pouring in may be cause of concern for you. At the moment, there are almost 180 negative reviews for the game, with gamers stating that the full package isn’t worth the money, with some gamers even calling it a ‘minigame’ and a Valve ‘cash shop’.

A lot of the criticism seems to be pointed at the fact that the game’s single player campaign only lasts around 4 -5 hours, depending on how fast you play through it. The following user review seems to reflect the general mood following the game’s US release:

”This game is not worth the hype at all. The way Valve has been pushing this I was expecting the second coming of Christ but instead I got a niche, 4 hour long minigame. Worst of all is the cash shop… as if the $45 price tag for the game alone isn’t enough. ”

What are your thoughts on this? For those of you who have already played it, are you disappointed as well with the final result? We’re hoping a few of you are going to stick up for Portal 2 so we hear both sides of the argument, because at the moment – it doesn’t look good for Valve.

The moment that many a gamer has been waiting for has finally arrived today (well, those that live in North America anyway), the moment that they can start playing the much-anticipated Portal 2 game. This of course means that we’re now starting to see the very first game reviews come in.

We thought we would take a look at a few of the early reviews, and let’s just say that the early review round up definitely showed some pretty impressive scores. In fact, Oli Welsh from the eurogamer.net website gave the Portal 2 game a perfect score of 10/10, describing the title as a masterpiece!!

Jamin Smith from the videogamer.com website also gave the game a perfect 10/10 score. According to Jamin, who also describes Portal 2 as a masterpiece, the game is genuinely hilarious and very well written, with fantastic co-op gameplay and great diversity to its puzzles.

Meanwhile, Alex over on thesixthaxis.com website gave the game an overall score of 9/10, stating that it’s much better than the original Portal game. One of the downsides to the Portal 2 game in Alex’s opinion is the fact that the end segment is a slight disappointment.

The final review we looked at comes from David Scammell over at gamerzines.com. David gave the game an impressive score of 95/100, describing it as one of the classiest, funniest, most rewarding and amazingly beautiful games that you’ll play on your PC this year.

You can read what else the reviewers had to say about the Portal 2 game via the links above. Have you had a chance to play the game yet? If you have, what are your first impressions?

There appears to be a few rumors circulating online at the moment, suggesting that Valve Corporation’s much-anticipated Portal 2 game could well see an early release. These rumors are being fueled by a mysterious countdown clock that has recently surfaced on the Aperture Science website.

According to a recent article by Jessica Citizen over at vg247.com, the site appears to have been updated with a countdown clock, which is counting down the seconds until 9:00 AM (PDT) on Friday morning. So could the Portal 2 game be arriving before its scheduled release date?

An Australian Kotaku reader was the one that spotted the update, while keeping a close eye on the Valve ARG wiki. All the recent signs appear to be pointing towards a possible early release for the Portal 2 game, although some gamers hope that Friday’s update will refer to Half-Life 2: Episode 3.

The website also provides a message underneath the countdown clock (which at the time of writing is at just over 3 hours), which simply reads: ‘you have done well, humans. Very well. Acceptable well, even.’ Do you think that it is a hint towards an early release for Portal 2, or perhaps something entirely different?

We have a treat for Portal fans now, as in the midst of GDC 2011, Valve has just released a fresh batch of screenshots for the upcoming Portal 2 game, which releases on the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC platforms next month.

There are 14 new screenshots in total, and you can view them all in high quality over at VG247 here. Dont forget for the first time, you’ll now be able to play Portal 2 on the PS3, and Valve has said it will be the best console version of the game since one of the main features will be cross platform play with PC gamers – a feature which we can’t wait to try out.

The big release date is April 22nd and if you’re unfamiliar with the franchise, you’ll probably want to check out this first look preview of the game which we’ve found over at Wired. For those of you who have played the first title, let us know your expectations of Portal 2.

We’re also interested to know how Xbox 360 owners feel about Portal 2 – Are you disappointed that the PS3 will have the best version? We’re sure you’ll be smiling once GTA 5 comes around though, if Microsoft decide to purchase exclusive content again.

We’ve been hearing quite a lot of news regarding the upcoming Portal 2 game over the past couple of months. Not only have we brought you an official release date, but we also provided our readers with a few more details on the cross-platform play.

Now it appears that even more information has been revealed, including the fact that Portal 2 will feature two different endings. According to Ryan Albertson at justpushstart.com, Valve’s Chet Faliszek told Videogamer that each ending will feature something special.

Chet explained that the original Portal game only had a single player mode so therefore just had one ending. However, a co-op mode has now been added to the Portal 2 game, so Valve decided to add an entirely new ending to the title.

The other bit of information that was revealed recently is the fact that user created content will be playable on all three platforms. According to Mike Jackson at computerandvideogames.com (via Nowgamer.com), players will not be able to create any content unless they are on a PC.

Faliszek explained that the mod tools unfortunately have to stay on the PC, due to there being a bunch of dependencies on the Windows platform. The content on the other hand will be able to be played on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
