One such vehicle that adorns children’s walls is Porsche, and mine was a 959. Okay, she was not the best looking supercar at that time, but there was that something special about her – maybe her 197 mph top speed?

Anyway, Porsche realize that there are many children who have an ambition to own one of their vehicles one day, and so has allowed this to happen much sooner. You will now be wondering where we are going with this; well you can now purchase a Porsche Go-Kart.

The all-new Porsche price is $900, which is a lot for a go-kart, but then you are getting one of the best-engineered go-karts out there. We’re not too sure how many children will have one of these, as just under a thousand bucks is a lot to pay, but if you love your child and want them to have something safe and beautiful looking, then tell them instead of a new Xbox One or PS4 at Christmas, they could have this instead.

Okay, we know it is still more expensive than one of those next-gen consoles, but I’d rather have my child playing outside than stuck indoors getting no form of exercise.

If you were looking for the ultimate green vehicle from Porsche, then this would have to be it, although we have seen a pedal powered Porsche before, one that actually looks like it as well, which you can see in the video below.

The Porsche Go-Kart weighs in at 110 pounds and is made from a tubular steel frame construction, and even comes with low-profile tires and a rear breaking system better than seen on other go-karts.

You will need to visit your local authorized Porsche Center in order to purchase one of these go-karts, and we do hope they have more than one color choice, as not too certain on orange.

Thanks to Porsche.

The upcoming version of the 991 will be the 2014 Porsche 911 Targa, and from what we can see is surly the one due to be revealed by the German sports car manufacturer later in 2013? We say this because vehicles in the testing process usually have a huge amount of camouflage hiding all the important new design flares, but this vehicle has been spotted without the disguise while being tested at the Nürburgring.

Okay, so we can’t be certain that this is the new version of the 997-generation Targa, but what else could it be? If this is the 2014 911 Targa exterior shot that we are looking at, thanks to Autocar, then it’s nice to see Porsche is going back to basics in terms of its roof design. You will nocite that those B-pillars wrap around the roof, and the removable glass panel helps to bring back the retro-style, rather than the sliding glass roof. Having said that, the 911 has always had a retro style.

Limited 2014 Porsche 911 Targa specs – As you may already know, all what we know is based on mere speculation, but it’s good to have some sort of indication. All that we seem to know/assume so far is a more powerful 3.8-litre flat six engine, instead of the current 3.4-litre powerplant. Power could be increased from 345 horsepower to 395 horsepower.

In the leaked 911 Targa image of the 2014 model it shows that it has lost none of what makes the vehicle a drivers car, as you will notice there are three wheels on the gray stuff and one in their air, meaning a nice stiff suspension setup.

The all-new Porsche Targa should be revealed in November at the Los Angeles motor show, which should give people a couple of months to get over the excitement of the September debut of the 918 Spyder.

If you’ve been waiting for more news on the Porsche 918 Spyder, then yesterday would have been very special for you, as Porsche released a huge amount of information, such as technical features, specs and a barrage of images. However, as we get ever closer to its final release a major issue is still hanging over the new car.

We already know that Porsche is doing all they can to peel weight from the car, so have come up with some unique production techniques. However, all this work is undone by putting an electric motor in. This is something shared by Autoblog’s Chris Harris, who has a fantastic insight into the Porsche 918 Spyder ahead of his test drive.

The Porsche 918 Spyder hybrid will weigh in at 3,608 pounds and produce 887 horsepower, but if they were to remove the batteries the vehicle would weigh just 2,420 pounds and the 608 horsepower 4.6-liter engine will still be enough to get the job done.

Harris is correct when he says electric spoils sports cars, and the batteries in the Spyder are very controversial. The Porsche 918 Spyder key paradox are those batteries, because the car has to carry that extra weight, and in doing so a huge effort has to be made in making weight savings through the rest of the 918 Spyder. It seems this is the price we have to pay if we wish to have a hybrid sports car.

However, this seems to be the way forward for the big players, and while it doesn’t have the same performance figures as a Ferrari LaFerrari or McLaren P1, the 918 Spyder looks nicer, should be much cheaper and hopefully more fun to drive?

We’ve already seen the Porsche 918 Spyder in various forms, but so far the production version has eluded us, that is until now. We can now tell you that the official Porsche 918 Spyder images for the production model, along with specs has finally been released, and they are very special indeed.

The production body can be seen from various angles, and there’s even a few shots of the Porsche 918 Spyder interior as well, just to wet your appetite. This is certainly a great day for those who were wondering how long it will be before Porsche shared a little more information.

The Porsche 918 Spyder has some of the most up-to-date technology available for a car, and so you will be able to reach some amazing speeds, while also staying fuel-efficient. While the car is very light in construction thanks to its carbon fiber reinforced polymer body, it’s very tough as well.

Some of the main Porsche 918 Spyder specs include a 4.6-liter engine of the eight-cylinder variety, which helps to produce 608 horsepower. To help increase fuel-efficiency Porsche has seen fit to include a 115 kW electric motor, which can run for 18 miles just on the electric motor if need be.

More images and the complete Porsche 918 Spyder specifications can be found on their official website.

It seems as though we have been waiting for the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray release for quite a while now, but it’s not as long as you would think. However, in that time we have learned so much about the car, and while we know General Motors has done a pretty decent job, their aspirations for the C7 do seem rather high.

The reason we say this is because GM believes the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray will be a match for the Porsche 911. We can understand why they would want to say such a thing, because the German vehicle will be the main rival of the C7, but does it have the credentials?

Whenever a new vehicle is due for release they have to set themselves a target, and so the 2014 Corvette Stingray is going after Porsche 911 lovers, which means would you prefer the noisy V8, which some say is unrefined, or is the Teutonic flat-six more to your liking?

The problem GM has is the fact that in the past the Corvette has appealed to an older demographic, whereas the 911 appeals to younger drivers. However, the new Corvette Stingray does have something different to offer, as the styling and performance is more aggressive than we have seen in the past, and so Motor Authority believes this could appeal to current 911 fans.

Over the years the Corvette Stingray has stuck with a certain price bracket, and the interior would match, but this has now changed with the 2014 model, as just a small price increase has seen vast improvements to the interior, which finally matches its beautiful styling.

2014 Corvette Stingray vs. Porsche 911, which gets your vote and why?

Back in 2006 Maria Sharapova was the face for Land Rover, and did a pretty decent job at lifting the brand, but now the tennis star has another challenge on her hands, as she is now the new face for Porsche.

There’s no denying that Maria Sharapova is hot, so it seems like a perfect partnership, as those cars from Stuttgart are hot as well. Sharapova has signed up for three years as the new ambassador for the Porsche AG brand, which is the same amount of time she held the same position at Land Rover. However, Porsche certainly seems to be more fitting for the athlete.

Maria Sharapova knows what it’s like to own a Porsche, as she won a white 911 Carrera S Cabriolet at the 2012 Porsche Tennis Grand Prix, which was held in Stuttgart. We love how the German auto manufacturer builds Sharapova for the job, as they say, “She combines top performance in her sports with elegance and power.” It’s as if she was made for the job as the Porsche AG ambassador.

The idea of having a brand ambassador has always received mixed reviews, on one hand it’s good to raise awareness of such a car, as well as great marketeting – especially when it is a beautiful woman – but on the other side of the fence is the argument that the money they pay these people would be better spent on R&D. Where do you stand on this debate?

However, it does not matter what you or I think, the likes of Porsche will always employ ambassadors, so if you had your choice who would be the perfect representative for Porsche and why? By the way, some people have suggested Sean Connery, and while some of you will consider him old, he still has a great presence and charisma about him.

If you wanted anymore proof of this then the recent news that Porsche is to recall the 2012-2013 911 Carrera and Carrera 4 models will prove this point.

If you have one of these vehicles and they were built between March 7, 2012 and November 12, 2012 then you may want to contact your local dealer or head over to the NHTSA website to see if you are affected by this upcoming recall.

There is a possibility that the standard version exhaust system could fracture at the tip, which means that it could fall away from the rear muffler. This issue is said to affect 2,263 Porsche 911 units.

As you would imagine if the exhaust system were to fail then there is a fear that this could fall off and not only become a hazard to you, but other road users as well, in the worst case scenario there could be a crash.

Thankfully Porsche will rectify this issue by replacing the rear muffler for free, although the German car manufacturer has yet to announce when they are to start the recalls. If you are concerned then contact Porsche on 1-800-767-7243 or the NHTSA 1-888-327-4236.

If you are into your supercars then you have a lot to be excited about because Porsche, Ferrari and McLaren all have new models in the works with the 960 (FeFi), F150 and the P1. If you want to know what FeFi mean it’s easy, Ferrari Fighter as the German car manufacturer has their sights set on the Prancing Horse’s successor to the Enzo.

It’s clear to see the Porsche 960 will have to pay the price if they have any hope of taking on the Ferrari F150 because the latter has an array of new technology borrowed from their F1 division to help give it a helping hand in performance and handling. The last we heard the 960 will cost as much as the F150, so Porsche could have a hard time convincing those with the funds that they should go for their model rather than the Ferrari, which could be a tough sell.

The reason we say this is because the Porsche 960 will come with a 3.9-liter flat-eight engine complete with quad-turbo to help produce 650 horsepower. While this may sound impressive, it’s not when you consider that the Ferrari F150 is expected to come with a 6.3-liter V12 engine, which will be boosted to 920 horsepower thanks to KERS technology.

One would presume that the Porsche would be able to take on their Italian rival because it would be much lighter, but if we are to believe some of what we’ve been hearing then the F150 could be about 500 pounds lighter. We shouldn’t count Porsche out just yet but let’s face it, it’s not looking too good is it?

It’s a bad day if you are the owner of a German built car because both Porsche and BMW have announced a recall of some of their vehicles over potential problems. The former are recalling the 2012 911 Carrera S while the latter is having to recall the 2003 and 2010 BMW 5 and 6 series.

The issue with the 911 is because there could be interference with the coolant and fuel line, which in some cases could mean that the fuel line could become disconnected to the connector, if this happens then fuel could leak causing a misfire or in some cases the car could stall, which could be dangerous in certain situations and could even catch fire.

Those who have affected vehicles will be notified by Porsche and have their car booked in to be repaired for free, this should begin in April. For those who fear they have an affected model should contact Porsche on 1-800-767-7243. More details can be found by visiting the NHTSA website.

As for BMW the issue is much worse because there are 1.3 million vehicles being recalled due to a potential issue with the battery-cable cover, we are told that this is one of the largest recalls for the German automaker. There are cases where the cable cover that is inside the trunk/boot could be fitted incorrectly, if this is the case then there could be a failure with the electrical system, which could lead to a possible fire risk.

BMW 5 and 6 Series built between 2003 and 2010 could be affected so you are advised to contact your local dealer or customer service in your region; thankfully there have been no reports of injury. Those affected by the recall will be notified by BMW soon and the free fix will only take 30 minutes to resolve. Again more details on this recall can be found by heading over to the WSJ.

Today we can reveal that a new Porsche 911 is coming, this will be unveiled at the 2011 Frankfurt Auto Show in September and it boasts a complete redesign, those of you who are Porsche fans will know that this will be the third new 911 design since the first model arrived 48 years ago.

Back in February TopGear.co.uk got some hands on time with a prototype of this car, however they were sworn to secrecy, now they have revealed everything they know about the new 911 and it seems great, you can see a full gallery of photos here. One thing Top Gear’s Paul Horrell does say is if you compare the most recent 911 to this new model you will see that this is the biggest change ever.

According to TopGear’s mini review the new 911 sounds very similar too previous models, which is mainly due to it featuring a similar flat-six engine, however when driving it the car felt more like a Cayman than it did a 911, one of the most noticeable things was said to be the fact that despite the 911 featuring a rear engine it felt “less rear-engined” than others 911 models, this is because the real wheels have been moved back 70mm, apparently this makes it feel a little more stable.

Not only are the rear wheels further back, but the front wheels are also further forward, this is said to make it feel larger and more aerodynamic, when driving the 911 you will notice that its steering is now electrically powered, apparently this is better for fuel economy and we are assured that it will steel feel the same as the old car in bend, whilst offering less interference on straights. With the wheel base much longer you may have thought that the car’s length would also be longer, however we are told that the overhangs are shorter to ensure that it is still pretty compact. Porsche also give the new 911 19-inch wheels as standard.

Porsche were keen to cut the car’s weight so they used aluminium to do just this, some parts are still made out of steel (the crash structure etc), however on the whole roughly 30-40kg has been cut, because of the design if steel was used instead of aluminium it would weigh roughly 60kg more than its predecessor, the extra weight would have had an obvious negative affect on performance.

In terms of engine options we are told that instead of a 3.6-litre engine there will be a 3.4-litre variant, obviously petrolheads won’t be happy with this, however we are told that it revs higher than its 3.6-litre predecessor, this results in it being more economical whilst still managing to deliver more bhp. The Carrera S still has a 3.8-litre engine, however it also revs higher than the last thanks to new injectors, this results in it producing 400bhp.

As you can see Porsche has taken measures to make the new 911 as economical as possible, this is a great thing when you take into account ever-increasing petrol prices, apparently the 3.4 Carrera PDK should deliver roughly 33mpg, not bad eh?

We should be able to find out more about this amazing new car in September, when we do we will keep you up-to-date.
