The positions were held by Buick, Jaguar and Lexus in 2009, but the German performance car maker has hit the number one place with a massive jump in quality. (Up ten places from last year).

Although Buick has dropped a few places its quality remains, it’s just that Porsche has raised the bar.
The VDS also showed that the public were avoiding certain brands such as, Cadillac, Hyundai and Mercury due to misperceptions about reliability, even though they performed well in the firm’s study.

A spokesman for J.D.Power and Associates said “Producing vehicles with world-class quality is just part of the battle for automakers; convincing consumers to believe in their quality is equally as important.”

J.D.Power accurately measures more than 52,000 original vehicle owners’ responses to a survey between October and December of 2009, regarding any problems that they have experienced from their 2007 model year vehicles. The scores are then calculated based on problems experienced per 100 units; higher vehicle quality equals lower scores.
