On January 21, 2013 it will be a huge day for Barack Obama because the President will be sworn in on that day, and while there will be a multitude of news channels keeping you updated as the event unfolds, those with a mobile device will be able to watch Obama’s Presidential Inauguration live with the official app for Android and iOS users.

The official app was released yesterday and will keep you fully up-to-date with the proceedings, and one of the key features of this mobile app is livestream, so the moment the news hits it will be streamed to your mobile device. The app is a simple one to use and the moment you open it on your smartphone or tablet you’ll have the choice to enter your cell phone number so that you can receive live updates.

However, you can skip this process and go directly to the in-built features of the Inaugural 2013 app by AT&T Services, Inc. One such feature is searching for events in your neighbored and become a volunteer and if you do find yourself wanting to head to Washington, D.C. for the big day, then the app will instruct you of all the areas that will be off limits to the public.

The Inaugural 2013 app is free and can be downloaded via Google Play or the App Store.

Another app that you might consider is Inauguration Events 2013 (US Presidential Inauguration), which allows you to plan for the event, so you can find where to purchase tickets, where the parties are and where you can have some fun without the need for an invite. This app costs just $0.99.

Finally there is the Inauguration app developed by Andrews Air Force Base, which will offer news articles, an interactive map for medical facilities, the parade route, what items are prohibited and also photos live from the event as well.

Will you be watching Obama’s Presidential Inauguration live in person or via an app?

The world of gaming, as great as it is, has had its fair share of criticism over the years. Issues surrounding health risks of gamers are often pointed out. The amount of time spent playing games seems to be the main concern and several implementations have been put in place to improve this, like enabling parents to have control over the amount of time their children spend on their console.

This still isn’t enough for some parents however with their children continuing to spend countless hours on their consoles. Consoles also come with health and safety warning suggesting rest periods. The news we have today is of President Obama’s urge for parents to take an active role by turning off the video games and encouraging their children to read more.

Barack Obama makes this plea as a parent himself. The announcement was made yesterday at the Father’s Day national address. There, his father-less childhood was discussed and he wanted to put across the point to encourage parents to be there more for their children and gaming was the example he used.

This is not the first time the nation’s gaming habits have been mentioned. Back in 2009 the President raised the issue concerning technology and video games saying they were too much of a distraction for kids during education and in 2008 also mentioned the negative affect some games have on the way people act in society hinting towards GTAIV. He has also done a little praising when it comes to computer games, publicly supporting the scheme that encouraged U.S kids to get into a career of graphics and video game design.

The amount of time spent on playing video games is one of many issues with health risks surrounding them. Extensive research has been put into the affects they can have and have been recorded. These other issues are also associated with children, they include an increased risk of aggressive physical behavior after playing violent games, attention problems such as ADHD or ADD as well as decreased verbal memory performance.

These are among ten different issues listed in an article at Addictionblog which covers the work of researchers from back in 2006. Check out the link to find out what other problems are mentioned. You can also check out CVG’s article for more about what was said by President Obama. Do you agree with the President?

A few days ago it was announced that the Obama administration wanted to help make a number of improvements for when it comes to the Internet, and wanted to launch a new ID system. It is hoped that this would help reduce the risk of fraud on the Internet, which has now become a big issue for not only the U.S. government, but also other governments around the world.

Having one main Internet identity is something that will take a while to implement, and according to James Sterngold from Business Week will just be a voluntary service and will be maintained not by any government department, but by private companies instead.

A number of high profile companies have already offered their support for the new Internet ID service, such as Verizon, AT&T, PayPal and others. The idea of being able to sign into one place and then access a number of other services that you have joined, such as banking, or even online shopping raises a number of questions.

It is all very well and good not having to remember a huge number of login and password details and be able to access a number of services with just one main login – but could this not make it easier for a thief, as they will gain access to all your details from just one place?

CNET News has been talking to Commerce Secretary Gary Locke and believes that there are still a number of privacy concerns with such a system, but would you agree with that assessment?

You have to admire how technology has changed the way in which we get updates for exit polls, and a fine example of this is with the live blog widget offering early exit poll results. I can remember a few years back when we used to watch someone on TV offering an analysis on all the latest details as they got them – how things have changed?

The live blog that Right Pundits is using is in real-time, so you get the 2010 Midterm election poll results as they come in. You will have to be patient for the results, as this is a big election but the website has a team of people typing away to give you all the latest information.

To keep you occupied, then you should take a look at the latest senate polls; the most recent updated are highlighted in pink. While you wait for the latest results to start coming in Right Pundits has been running a series of polls, ones that I am sure you will take part in.

Are you happy with getting all the latest poll results online, or would you much rather watch the events as they unfold on TV? Social media is also playing its part in this election, such as Foursquare offering a vote incentive badge.

The past couple of days we have offered advice on finding your voting locations; we gave details on two websites, as well as an app. We have yet another website tool for you, this time the “Polling Place Finder”. This one was suggested to some of our readers via Twitter.

This tool on Vote411 asks for your full address, including Zip Code – do not forget to add your state in. Before you go ahead and enter your details, just make certain that you are registered to vote first. More information oh finding out if you are registered to vote can be found here.

There are other alternatives being suggested on Twitter, such as locating your local government run website; a fine example of this is the North Carolina one. Looking at it seems to be much the same as most of the others, but ideal to have one dedicated to your area, as the main ones could end up crashing under server strain.

Another great piece of advice given on Twitter is Facebook teaming up with app developer Involver. The results shown offers a map that is powered by Google, more details on this can be found on Mashable.

What Polling Place Finder tool did you use? Get more update on Twitter.

There are a number of ways where you can find your voting locations by Zip Code, such as apps, websites and Google Maps. The most obvious choice to most would be with the latter, as this is accessible to all computers and smartphones, which we discussed in a recent post.

For those of you who would like an alternative to Google, then the Polling Locator from Polling Places is another great way to find these locations. All you need to do is enter your residence street address and Zip Code and the locator tool will do all the hard work for you.

Another option is the VoterHub app, which is free. Not only can you get details on where you can vote, but also information on each candidate. This app is not like some of those that will stop working later today, you can get details on future elections, as well as register to vote if you have not already done so.

These are just three ways where you can find the location of where you need to vote, which one will you use? If you know of any other, then please let us know?

You do not have to live in America to know that today is an important day for U.S. citizens, as it is the day that they get to vote on the 2010 Midterm elections. We have seen in recent months how social media has played a huge part in politics, and today is no different.

Foursquare has made a new badge available, which they are calling “I Voted”. All you need to do to unlock this new badge is check in once you have voted at your poling station. So not only will you achieve a new badge, but you can make your voice heard by voting.

Foursquare is also in partnership with a number of other companies to offer details on how people are voting and turnout figures. This will be done on an average on how many people check-in. There will even be an embeddable version, allowing you to add it to your website. There are other ways to keep updated on what is going on, such as this iPhone app.

Foursquare explains that this is the first time that they have asked their users to do something serious, instead of doing things for fun. They have a point, what is the point of moaning about certain U.S. issues, when you do not vote? Visit Foursquare for more details.

For those of you who are still uncertain where they are supposed to vote for tomorrows elections, then there is a new app available allowing you to find voting locations by your ZIP code. Being able to use a mobile device has now made the whole process of voting much easier.

The app is available for a number of smartphones on the market, such as a range of BlackBerry devices and the iPhone. Getting started on the iPhone is much easier that the BlackBerry. Things are more involved for BlackBerry users; get more details on this at Half Moon Bay.

Sticking with the iPhone app theme, CNN has their CNN Elections Center application. Once downloaded and installed you will be able to follow things as they develop on Election Day. You will receive up to the minute news, so you know how well your candidate is doing; more details about the app on iTunes.

Finally we have the MyElection My News CNN webpage, which can also be viewed on smartphones. All you need to do is enter your ZIP code in the search box; you can also change your location to get different results.

These are just a few ways where you can gain access to the vast amount of knowledge for the Midterms.

There’s nothing like a viral video campaign to get your message across, even politicians have been taking advantage of this new tool to try and get your support. OK, so we know that they are not going to be as amusing as the “Old Spice Guy”, or some of the ones that “Sesame Street” has been doing, but they do have their funny side.

TIME has a list of 29 campaign ads that went viral, so let us take a look at what we thought were the best of these. One of the most recent is the “Joe Manchin’s Dead Aim” TV ad. You will know that he is no lover of the Obama administration, so thought it would be funny to get his rifle and take a shot tat the Democrats cap–and–trade bill. See here

“Christine O’Donnell’s Bewitching Debut” is yet another example of a video going viral, and is nice to see that it has a Halloween theme. OK, that is not true, but she starts by saying that she is not a witch, like what some people have been calling her. Watch her cardboard performance here.

I was shocked when I watched “Old Spice Dan”, why do so many people try to recreate what Isaiah Mustafa has done? Mustafa just screams cool, Dan Freilich will just make you scream – it has to be seen to be believed. See it here.

We now know that with the age of viral videos, Politicians can now get their message across to a much broader audience – as can brands such as Old Spice, Coke and others.

Visit TIME for all 29 viral campaign ads.
