Camera makers know that they have to move with the times if they have any hope of staying relevant because we know that people’s needs have changed, and Samsung was one of the first to recognize this, which is why they felt the need to release the GALAXY Camera. What made this camera so different is how it runs on Android OS, the Nikon Coolpix S800c is another example and now the Polaroid iM1836.

The Polaroid iM1836 Android camera falls right in the middle of the three, with the Nikon being cheaper and the Samsung being the more expensive, but for good reason. However, Polaroid already has experience in Android cameras because they launched one at CES 2012, which was the very first Android camera.

We cannot deny how popular the Samsung GALAXY Camera has been since its launch, which is partly due to an extensive marketing campaign, although the features also have something to do with it. However, the Polaroid iM1836 does have something going for it and that’s the fact that it is the first Android camera to come with interchangeable lenses, and the sensor is built into the lens and not the body.

This may sound strange but Polaroid will have an adapter allowing for other branded lenses to be used as well, which does give you more options. The Polaroid iM1836 price is expected to be $350-400 when released later this year. Get a first look at this camera from CES in the video below.

If you thought that Polaroid were just going to show off a rugged tablet for kids, then you would be mistaken as they are also going to release a couple of serious traditional tablets as well. The Polaroid M7 and M10 tablets will both run on Android Jelly Bean out of the box and as you would have guessed are 7 and 10 inches in size, which you’ll be able to see for yourself in the visual reviews below.

Firstly let’s look at the Polaroid M7 tablet with its 1,280 x 800 display, the first thing you’ll want to know is what powers the tablet, and that answer would be the A9 1.6GHz dual-core processor, which is helped along with the pretty standard 1GB of RAM. You’ll notice from the hands-on video below that the M7 is pretty responsive, but that’s not the best part, it’s the Polaroid M7 price, as it is expected to cost just $129 when released in the spring.

Next up is the Polaroid M10 tablet; now one would assume that the larger sibling would have better performance, so imagine our surprise to hear that it is a little slower. This could have something to do with running the A7 CPU and 1GB of RAM, instead of 2GB of RAM at least and a better performing processor.

Most of the Polaroid M10 tablet specs seem pretty much the same as the smaller M7, it’s just like Polaroid cut a few corners just to try and keep the price down and save power on their larger tablet, which is just $100 more. This means that the Polaroid M10 tablet price will be $229 when released in conjunction with the M7.

It’s clear to see that these are just cheap tablets that will not pose a serous threat to the likes of the iPad, Galaxy Tab 10.1 etc, but Polaroid looks to have their sights set on the Nexus 7 and 10, but the question is, do these tablets have what it takes?

Last Friday we explained to you how the rugged Polaroid tablet for kids would be on show during CES 2013, and that we would offer you a hands-on video once one became available. Well we have that video for you below, and you’ll also be happy to know that the Polaroid Kids Tablet is already available to purchase from their online store.

We already told you about some of the main features of this new tablet, but being able to see video footage rather than images really makes you understand why such a tablet is so important. Having an iPad, my face is always filled with fear every time a child goes near it, but there will be no such worries with Polaroid’s child friendly tablet as it can withstand a drop from waste height with no fear of damage to the tablet, or your bank account.

Okay, so we know that this device is not going to blow your mind when it comes to specs or screen quality, but it’s not about that because young children do not care about things like that, they just love to play games while learning at the same time. While we’re all for kids having fun, one of the features we like the most is what comes preloaded onto the tablet, which is Dr. Seuss books and Smithsonian kids books, along with Nook as well.

As we said above the device is now available and the Polaroid tablet for kids price is $149.99, which is not that expensive when you take into consideration the educational value. We also love how parents can stay in control of what the child can view on the custom web browser thanks to parental controls, which offers a safe mode allowing you peace of mind.

There’s likely an army of kids with Apple iPad mini’s in hand right now, especially after Christmas and the fact that Apple introduced a cheaper option than their previous 10-inch model, which some parents might have found easier to afford if they really wanted an iPad for their child. This possibility hasn’t stopped other brands from wanting to show another option, and this includes the Polaroid tablet for kids that will be showcased at CES 2013.

You can see a close-up of the Polaroid tablet above that focuses on the front screen, and as you can see it is clearly built for children. The 7-inch tablet had been revealed yesterday in a press release, which Polaroid used to promote interest before CES 2013. The event kicks off in a few days time and runs between Jan 8 – 11.

The Polaroid tablet for kids features a 7-inch display and will run on Android 4.0. Children will find a lot of entertainment and fun geared towards their age, but the tablet also focuses on security and education that would be expected from a product focused on kids.

There will be a customized collection of apps pre-installed on the Polaroid tablet, and these include Kids Vids, Draw, Music Studio, Kids Cam, and Free Play. These apps have been filtered, so the likes of the video application is filtered to include videos safe for children to watch.

Reading is also a focus of the Polaroid tablet for kids and this is supported by NOOK for Android from Barnes and Noble. Children will find some books preinstalled, which includes Dr. Seuss interactive books for a number of ways to read and listen.

Polaroid tablet specs include a 3500 mAh battery, 2MP rear camera, 512MB DDR3 RAM, 1GHz CORTEX-A8 CPU, 8GB storage with expansion via the SD card slot, a 7-inch capacitive multi-touch screen with an 800×480 resolution, and b/g/n Wi-Fi. Children will find 35 apps preloaded that are all full versions.

The kids Polaroid tablet will have a price of just under $150. We will update our readers with a hands-on video after CES in Las Vegas.

Before it began some journalists reported that this year’s Consumer Electronics Show would be predictable and while for some of the event that statement is true, Polaroid is one company that has produced the unpredictable with their SC1630 Smart Camera.

You may have heard a device being referred to as a camera phone, well this unique device from Polaroid switches that concept around as it is a camera that uses Google’s Android OS and is able to make calls. Despite being classed as a camera it still features the same slim design that you would expect from a smartphone, however the camera department is a lot more impressive than the snappers that you would expect on a smartphone.

The key features of the Polaroid SC1630 are its almighty 16 megapixel camera with a 36-108mm lens capable of 3x optical zoom and a 3.2” touchscreen display. Some of its other features include access to the Android Market via a Wi-Fi connection which also enables users to upload their images straight to their social networking sites.

As ComputerWorld reports this Smart Camera is expected to hit the US market around April time for $299 although financial and technical details are still being finalized. Which version of Android is being used on the models at CES was undisclosed but the company say they will be aiming to upgrade it to 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich by the time it launches.

The Polaroid SC1630 represents evolution in cameras which could see a manufacturers and network carriers alike benefitting from a future of Smart Cameras. What is your opinion of the Smart Camera? Do you think they could take the place of the smartphone?

How would you like to own a mobile printer that is part of Lady Gaga’s Grey Label range of devices? Well now it looks like you will be able to, as Polaroid has just announced that its new GL10 instant mobile printer is officially available to pre-order from their online store.

According to an engadget.com article by Christopher Trout, the Polaroid GL10 is also rumored to be making an early appearance in the men’s accessories section of Bloomingdale’s in New York City. The GL10 is in fact the very first of Lady Gaga’s Grey Label devices to make it onto the market.

The Polaroid GL10, which weighs just 15 ounces, is able to connect wirelessly via Bluetooth to smartphones – including BlackBerry, Android and Windows phones – and via USB to most digital cameras and computers. It can print either full bleed or 3 x 4-inch classic Polaroid style prints.

It also boasts a Li-ion battery, which is reportedly capable of printing out 35 photos per charge. As noted over on the store.polaroid.com website, the Polaroid GL10 has a wide variety of custom designed borders that enables printing with the Classic Polaroid Border logo, as well as the ability to add your own.

The GL10 has been priced up at $169.99. Would you buy this instant mobile printer?

We have been given the chance to review the Polaroid XSU-00350B Digital Photo Frame. The device has a 3.5-inch colour screen and has been finished with a designer ebony frame. The photo frame not only allows you to view images from a memory card, but you can also play MP3 files as well, making the photo frame ideal for taking on holiday or keeping at the office.

Upon taking the Polaroid XSU-00350B Digital Photo Frame out of the box I noticed that it had a mirror effect screen, so you have to make sure that no light will shine on it, otherwise you will not be able to see the pictures. I have only had the device in my hands for little more than 2 minutes and already the screen is smudged, it is worse than my iPhone. A quick wipe on my shirt and it is all clean again.

When you power the device up for the first time, make sure that it is connected to your PC using the USB cord supplied. Before your first use, you should charge the photo frame for at least six hours. Press and hold the ESC button for a few seconds, the device is now on. You have two modes to choose from, one is charging mode, you will not be able to transfer any files while in this mode. PC Mode allows you to use the digital photo frame as a card reader, allowing you to transfer files to and from the memory card and your PC.

So your device is now fully charged and you have powered up, you now have a choice of viewing files from either the internal memory or an SD or MMC memory card. The buttons are at the top of the photo frame, which you will need to use to make your choices. Once you have made your choice using the left or right button, just hit enter to confirm.

That is it; you are now seeing your images direct from your memory card. I noticed that the menu was a bit hard to get used to at first, but after a few goes you will get the hang of it. Each time you start the 3.5-inch Polaroid XSU-00350B Digital Photo Frame up; you have to make the choice of launching from your memory card, which is a bit of a pain.

The only problem that I have with the device is that it does not randomize the photos. Overall, the picture quality is good. The device is ideal if you work in an office and want to view pictures of your family, a great way to ease the stress.
