For those of you who owned a Nintendo Gameboy back in the day, you’ll agree that those Pokemon games were some of the finest gameplay experiences you have had and most of you would jump at the chance to relive those classics today.

Unfortunately, it appears that there are certain individuals out there who also want to make a profit out of your Pokemon memories, with Apple’s app store and its millions of users a key target.

You may not have realized it but recently there was a Pokemon Yellow game available to download from the App Store for a mere $0.99. The image descriptions along with the app duped users further into thinking the game was legitimate and as you may expect, tons of users proceeded to download the app straight away thinking that it was the real deal from Nintendo.

The bad news is that the game didn’t even work and crashed upon start-up so not only did Pokemon fanboys get duped by the fake app, they also lost $0.99 and didn’t even get a sniff of a Pokemon game either. What they should have done is spotted the dubious information included with the app, which listed ‘Home of Anime’ and ‘Daniel Burford’ as the seller.

There’s probably even worse cases out there of iOS App Store trickey, but fooling die hard Pokemon fans is probably up there as well. If there’s one game that we would love to see on iOS or Android for that matter it is the original Pokemon Red, Blue and Yellow games.

The news involving the scam has even caused the official Pokemon company to speak out, as they warned fans to be careful of similar scams in the future. Here’s a portion of what they said, courtesy of Macgasm: “Fans who encounter questionable products should report to us immediately so we can keep other fans from falling victim to these scams.”

You may think that the possibility of a Pokemon game featuring on iOS or Android is slim to none anyway since Nintendo have their own platforms and products to look after, but you can’t deny that there would be a huge deal of money to be made if they decided to do it. We’d happily pay a decent amount if they delivered a perfect port to iOS or Android, but we imagine there’s all sorts of licensing shenanigans to get through first.

What are your thoughts on the Pokemon iOS scam – did you see it on the app store? Would you pay good money for a good port as well?

According to a recent post on the Nintendo 3DS blog we may see a new Pokemon game for the Nintendo 3DS, Wii or Wii 2 unveiled next month, this news was originally published in a Japanese magazine called CoroCoro.

We do not have much in terms of details, however we are led to believe that the game will be unveiled on June 15th, we’re not sure how accurate this information is, therefore treat it as a rumor for now.

Pokemon Black Version and Pokemon White Version arrived in Japan in late 2010 and in March 2011 in other regions, despite the imminent launch of the 3DS the games set new sales records for the Nintendo DS, therefore the next Pokemon title will undoubtedly do well.

Nintendo 3DS Blog say that the game will be unveiled on June 15th, we find it weird that the game is not being announced at E3 2011 during the Nintendo press conference, however as this is currently still a rumor don’t be too surprised if the game gets a mention during the expo at some point.

We don’t think that the next Pokemon game will come to the original Wii, therefore we presume that it will either be coming to the Nintendo 3DS or Nintendo Wii 2 (aka Project Cafe), which release would you prefer to see?

The new Pokémon titles for the Nintendo DSi have been a huge sucess as we reported earlier in this post about it’s day one sales. The success continues as a report from the Official Nintendo Magazine brings us coverage on the sales from the first two weeks of sales in both Europe and North America.

From day one the game was rumored to be big, despite the fact that the Nintendo DSi regarded “old tech” thanks to the Nintendo 3DS release, Pokémon Black version and Pokémon White version have soared through the U.S, producing 2 million sales in the first 2 weeks, in the UK one million copies have already been sold and the number is still increasing.

The success of sales put the games at the top of most sales charts across all platforms in the first week. Nintendo replied to the reaction with this tweet, “Thanks, Pokémon fans! You helped the Pokémon Black and Pokémon White Version games hit the 2 million sales mark in just 2 weeks!”

Both games still remain in the U.K and U.S top ten and reviewers have described these editions of Pokémon games to be the best yet. There is little doubt that sales will continue to rise steadily from here, we wonder if a Nintendo 3DS Pokémon release will be announced at E3 2011.

What did you think of the new Pokémon games?

If you have picked up a copy of the recently released Pokemon Black and White game, there is a good chance that you’ll want to know where the various legendary pokemon are hidden and how to obtain them.

The good news, is that we now have a complete list of the legendary Pokemon that are featured in Black and White. Some of the Pokemon are specifc to each game, so in some cases, you’ll need to trade with someone who as the other copy of the game, or trade with yourself if you have both copies!

Legendary Pokemon within Black and White are split into different categories, these are Roaming Legends (Tornadus and Thundurus), Stationary Legends (Reshiram and Zekrom, Cobalion, Terrakion, Virizion, Kyurem and Harder to Catch Pokemon.

The difficult ones include Landorus as you’ll need to have both Tornadus and Thundurus in your team, then there’s Victini, who can only be obtained via a WiFi event, which you can find full details on here.

There are a further three other legendary Pokemon called Keldeo, Melotta & Genesect, but their locations and abilities are a secret at the moment and can only be obtained via WiFi events as well.

As you may know, Pokemon Black and Pokemon White are both one day away from release. Reviews are in, Metacritic has an average score, and Pokemon fans are getting tattoos of Poke Balls with subdermal implants in their arms.

Yes, you heard us right, as shown in the photographs below, a superfan called Alex Finch, who says he was a fan of Pokemon since the third or fourth grade has got himself six tattoo’s of Pokeballs up his right arm, and also had subdermal implants put behind the Poke Balls to create a 3D Poke Ball effect.

The reason behind the 6 tattoos is that it symbolises the amount of Poke Balls you could carry in the original Pokemon game.

Finch says that this is “just the beginning,” as he plans to add additional tattoos with cartoons, videogames and anime icons on the rest of his Poke Ball covered arm, to which he also said that he wanted to add more Poke Balls.

The name Poke Ball first originated from the name “Monster Ball,” which is what it was called in the original Japanese version. Since then, many extra types of Poke Balls have come on to the Pokemon scene that all hold different strengths. The Super Ball, Ultra or Hyper Ball and Master Ball all have a better capture success rate on Pokemon you can catch than the standard Poke Ball. More additions were later added that included the Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver.

If that is not total dedication to your favourite computer game and cartoon series then I don’t know what is. What do you think of the tattoos? Would you ever get something like that done that depict your favourite computer game or alike?

We are only about 2 days away from the next Pokemon games being released on Nintendo DS. Pokemon Black Version reviews and Pokemon White Version reviews are now available on Metacritc who have also rounded up the scores based on reviews so far.

Both the Black and White versions of the new Pokemon games feature entirely new Pokemon that players can battle, then catch and train for their own battles. For the first time in Pokemon history, the two games will have two separate areas in which to explore. The Black version will have the Black City world which plays out in a metropolitan-type setting whilst the White version includes White Forest.

A number of new innovative Pokemon-style changes have also made it in to the Black and White versions of the popular game, with seasons now added which will change and cycle throughout time. Certain Pokemon will appear more frequently in certain seasons meaning the chance to catch ‘em all just got smaller.

Reshiram, a legendary Pokemon will only be available in the Black Version of the game whilst Zekrom, another legendary Pokemon will only be available in the White version.

Pokemon Black and White are both quite high up in the metacritic score as of this time. Both have a score of 87/100 with the top 3 reviews for each getting 95, 90 and 90 via Official Nintendo Magazine UK, Nintendo Power and Gameplanet.

The Official Nintendo Magazine sums things up by saying “A beautiful refinement of a great series. Game Freak has surpassed itself – the best Pokemon ever. “, this surely makes it must for all Pokemon fans..

What are your opinions on the latest installments of Pokemon? Are you gonna catch ‘em all?

The Pokemon video game series has been going for many years now, and are enjoyed by both children and adults alike. Although many will agree that the series is fine the way it is, others seem to think that there are changes or improvements to be made.

An article by Paige McBeth over at wildgunmen.com provides us with a list of the top 10 things that either need changing or improving to make the Pokemon series even better than it already is. Number 10 on the list is to maybe make the Pokemon less childish-looking.

Some of the newer Pokemon characters may look cute, but that means they don’t look powerful enough to kick serious a**. Another possible change is to have longer routes to the towns and cities, which would give you more time to level up your Pokemon.

Maybe some character customization would be a welcome change as well. Would you like to be able to customize the looks of the trainer you play? Number 2 on the list is a possible plot change. While this author says the games are still entertaining, a plot change could be good.

Right at the top of the list at number 1 is the addition of a Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game (MMORPG) to the Pokemon series. What do you think of the idea of a Pokemon MMORPG game? If they had one, would you play it? You can read the full list via wildgunmen.com.

We have some great news for those of you planning on picking up Pokemon Black and White on the Nintendo DS, as we can confirm that the game has just been given a perfect review over in Japan – a good sign of things to come perhaps?

As reported from VG247, popular Japanese publication Famitsu are the team responsible for the score, as they have awarded the upcoming game a flawless 40/40.

You may think that these perfect scores are handed out a bit too easily these days, but there is no doubt that Black and White is looking like the best game in the franchise to date.

Sadly, it won’t be out in the US until next Spring, but you can import it from Japan this month if you really want it bad. Tell us what you think about the perfect score. It is worth pointing out that Black and White is the first Pokemon game in history to receive a perfect score from Famitsu, joining the likes of Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, and the great Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.

Will you be picking this up?

Nintendo have recently revealed the official release date for two Pokemon Nintendo DS games, these DS games are Pokemon HeartGold and Pokemon SoulSilver.

It is now thought that UK Pokemon fans will be able to get hold of both games as of March 26th,currently Play.com are offering pre-orders of the games for £39.99 each.

It has now been over 10 years since we first saw the release of Pokemon Red and Pokemon Blue in the western-market, there is no doubt that the hype has died down a lot since, however I’m sure it will still do pretty well.

Currently Pokemon hold two pretty substantial records, it is the biggest ever selling RPG on the Gameboy, and according to Gamer.co.uk it is in the Guinness Book of Records for being the biggest selling RPG of all time.

Will you be buying either of these releases?
