Earlier on we gave some solid Pokemon X and Y news, in the form of a brand new gameplay trailer and a look at new Pokemon Pancham, Fletchling, Helioptile and GoGoat in action. Now, we’re pleased to bring you the official box art for the game that will be releasing exclusively on the Nintendo 3DS in October.

The box art won’t feature the starter Pokemon for X and Y, but rather the main two legendary Pokemon that have been revealed so far. If you pick up Pokemon X, you’ll get a lovely box with Xerneas on it – the deer-like Pokemon that has yet to have its type officially revealed.

Alternatively, if you choose to get Pokemon Y, you’ll get a box with the fearsome dragon-like Pokemon Yveltal, rumored to be a dark and flying type Pokemon. As usual, you’ll have the ultimatum of deciding whether to pick up both games, or just get one and aim to collect the other respective Pokemon by trading with a friend.

As we revealed in our previous post, Kalos is going to be a massive region as well, with plenty of areas to discover aside from Lumiose City which is the main city inspired by Paris that has been used for the official teasers so far. We still don’t have a solid release date yet for the game, but hopefully Nintendo will be announcing this during E3 2013, which starts in just a few weeks time.

So there we have it – which box art looks the best in your opinion? Will you be buying both games, or plan to just get one? We have to say X looks the more elegant, but Y is obviously the more badass of the two box arts – do you agree?

We are finally starting to see some frequent Pokemon X and Y news come in at last. We previously showed you some of the latest magazine scans from Japan, which unveiled four new Pokemon that will feature in the 3DS title. Now we have a brand new gameplay trailer to show you, which gives you a first look at the new creatures in battle.

To recap, Nintendo and Game Freak recently unveiled the four characters to be Yancham – a fighting type, Yayakoma – a normal/flying type, Elicitel – electric/normal type and GoGoat, a new grass type of Pokemon. Now we have learned that these were actually the Japanese names for the creatures.

In English, these will actually become Pancham, Fletchling and Helioptile respectively, while GoGoat will keep the same name. As we told you recently, GoGoat is also a mount Pokemon, as you’ll be able to ride the creature around on your travels. The new trailer that we have to show you above gives you a look at GoGoat in action, both in mountable form and in battle as well as he performs Horn Leech.

Further on in the video, we also see Pancham, Fletchling and Helioptile in battle as well – pay close attention to some of their impressive animations. We’re also pleased to see that exploration around the different areas looks fantastic as well – diagonal movements at last!

Finally, we can also bring you a full scale map of the Pokemon X and Y Kalos region – click here for a full view courtesy of PokeJungle. Lumiose City (centralized) is just one of the cities featured in the region, there are plenty of areas to visit as you can see in the map.

Look forward to some more details on Pokemon X and Y soon. For now, watch the new gameplay above and discuss your ideas on the other areas shown in the map.

Pokemon X and Y starter evolution rumors http://www.product-reviews.net/2013/05/06/pokemon-x-and-y-starter-evolution-rumors/ http://www.product-reviews.net/2013/05/06/pokemon-x-and-y-starter-evolution-rumors/#comments Mon, 06 May 2013 02:27:38 +0000 Alan Ng http://www.product-reviews.net/?p=159807 pokemon-x-y-starter-evolutionsAre you starting to sweat over the likelihood of new Pokemon X and Y gameplay appearing at this year’s E3 2013 expo? Are you starting to sweat over the likelihood of new Pokemon X and Y gameplay appearing at this year’s E3 2013 expo? Nintendo has already said that they won’t be having a main press conference this year, so there will be no specialized Pokemon X and Y reveal on stage. The game could still be shown off though on the show floor, and as we approach June we have some more rumors for you to digest and discuss in the meantime.

Pokemon fans are clearly not stupid. Most can spot a fake a mile away and the following images that we have to show you are going to require some careful thought once again. Official Pokemon X and Y news has obviously been very quiet as of late, but some new Japanese scans have turned up, appearing to show the final evolution forms for the three starter Pokemon Fennekin, Chespin and Froakie.

The evolution results are interesting to say the least, particularly Fennekin’s transformation which suggests that the creature may even have a new type along with Fire in its new form. The designs are believable, but then again we have seen some very creative unofficial designs as well, making this all the more difficult to determine whether it is real or not.

The same website that posted the information, has also provided another image which claims that none other than Jinx will be getting an evolution for Pokemon X and Y, and the ‘disaster’ Pokemon Absol will also be getting an evolution as well.

Exciting stuff, but is it real? Check out the image of the final evolutions for Chespin, Fennekin and Froakie, and let us know what you think about them.

Pokemon X and Y Sylveon spotted in movie trailer http://www.product-reviews.net/2013/03/07/pokemon-x-and-y-sylveon-spotted-in-movie-trailer/ http://www.product-reviews.net/2013/03/07/pokemon-x-and-y-sylveon-spotted-in-movie-trailer/#comments Thu, 07 Mar 2013 15:33:50 +0000 Alan Ng http://www.product-reviews.net/?p=158074 pokemon-xy-sylveonEarlier on this week we showed you a potential leaked Pokedex for upcoming 3DS game Pokemon X and Y. Earlier on this week we showed you a potential leaked Pokedex for upcoming 3DS game Pokemon X and Y. The leak gave away the entire list of new Pokemon that would be coming in the new game and now we have some more juicy information for you. A new Pokemon movie is due out, and a trailer unveiled this week teases one unseen Pokemon called Sylveon that will also be included in X and Y.

If you aren’t already aware, Sylveon is going to be a brand new evolution of Eevee, the famous Pokemon from the original games on the Gameboy. The Pokemon features in the latest trailer for the Pokemon movie titled Extremespeed Genesect Mewtwo’s Awakening (yes, really) and also shows off some of the other transformations of Eevee at the end which you’ll probably be a lot more familiar with.

When we told you about the leaked Pokedex list, a lot of Pokemon fans were saying it was fake information. However, it is worth pointing out that Sylveon is indeed included in the list of new Pokemon, so it may be worth checking it back again here – it could actually be a legit list of all the new X and Y additions.

At the moment, the abilities of Sylveon are still shrouded in mystery, with the Pokedex info beside Sylveon suggesting that the creature will be a normal type of Pokemon. The trailer above definitely builds up anticipation further though, so hopefully it won’t be too long until we see some X and Y gameplay showing the new evolutions.

How excited are you about Pokemon X and Y? Will you be watching the movie in July to get an early look at the new Pokemon that are coming?

Pokemon Wii U has no chance in 2013 after X and Y http://www.product-reviews.net/2013/01/10/pokemon-wii-u-has-no-chance-in-2013-after-x-and-y/ http://www.product-reviews.net/2013/01/10/pokemon-wii-u-has-no-chance-in-2013-after-x-and-y/#comments Thu, 10 Jan 2013 06:35:19 +0000 Alan Ng http://www.product-reviews.net/?p=156229 pokemon-xy-not-for-wii-uAfter Nintendo’s exciting announcement of Pokemon X and Pokemon Y for the Nintendo 3DS, many had hoped that we would see the announcement of a first Pokemon game for the...]]> pokemon-xy-not-for-wii-u

After Nintendo’s exciting announcement of Pokemon X and Pokemon Y for the Nintendo 3DS, many had hoped that we would see the announcement of a first Pokemon game for the Wii U as well. Unfortunately, it didn’t happen though and it looks like we may be set for a long wait until that moment finally arrives. For some reason, Pokemon games on home Nintendo consoles are not top priority, even though Wii U owners would state the exact opposite. Does Nintendo not realize how popular Pokemon Stadium was on the N64?

While Wii U owners continue to be frustrated over the lack of a Pokemon game for the system, the Nintendo 3DS is still as healthy as ever with X and Y now set to be released in October 2013. Pokemon Black and White 2 was only released in October 2012, so we have a feeling that many of you are still trying to work your way through that game in order to complete the collection.

The release of X and Y in October will mean that it will mark one year on from Black and White 2, which could be an indication that further games will happen at this point in October 2014. We would really hope that developers Game Freak include the Nintendo Wii U in their future plans though, as the new console could clearly do with a Pokemon game to define the system along with future titles like Smash Bros Wii U and a new Zelda game as well which looks very promising.

Game Freak are aware of the disappointments on the Wii U silence and have spoken to Game Informer on why the new console won’t be getting a version of Pokemon X and Y any time soon. The developer has admitted that they favor making games for portable devices due to the communication and trading aspects that Nintendo’s portable handheld systems offer. Although it doesn’t entirely answer the question why this wouldn’t work on the Wii U Nintendo Network either, it basically looks like success from previous games on the 3DS means that console versions are just not as important for the time being.

As disappointing as that is, there is always the possibility that Nintendo and Game Freak will chance their stance soon. Perhaps fans need to start a petition to really get the message across – it worked for Dark Souls didn’t it? Either way, we can definitely see a lot of Pokemon fanatics picking up a 3DS just to play X and Y as it looks brilliant. Take a look at the trailer again below and let us know your thoughts on the lack of Pokemon console games.

Do you have fond memories of Pokemon Stadium on the N64?

Pokemon for iOS scam ruins fanboy dreams http://www.product-reviews.net/2012/02/23/pokemon-for-ios-scam-ruins-fanboy-dreams/ http://www.product-reviews.net/2012/02/23/pokemon-for-ios-scam-ruins-fanboy-dreams/#comments Thu, 23 Feb 2012 11:33:09 +0000 Alan Ng http://www.product-reviews.net/?p=149069 For those of you who owned a Nintendo Gameboy back in the day, you’ll agree that those Pokemon games were some of the finest gameplay experiences you have had and most of you would jump at the chance to relive those classics today.

Unfortunately, it appears that there are certain individuals out there who also want to make a profit out of your Pokemon memories, with Apple’s app store and its millions of users a key target.

You may not have realized it but recently there was a Pokemon Yellow game available to download from the App Store for a mere $0.99. The image descriptions along with the app duped users further into thinking the game was legitimate and as you may expect, tons of users proceeded to download the app straight away thinking that it was the real deal from Nintendo.

The bad news is that the game didn’t even work and crashed upon start-up so not only did Pokemon fanboys get duped by the fake app, they also lost $0.99 and didn’t even get a sniff of a Pokemon game either. What they should have done is spotted the dubious information included with the app, which listed ‘Home of Anime’ and ‘Daniel Burford’ as the seller.

There’s probably even worse cases out there of iOS App Store trickey, but fooling die hard Pokemon fans is probably up there as well. If there’s one game that we would love to see on iOS or Android for that matter it is the original Pokemon Red, Blue and Yellow games.

The news involving the scam has even caused the official Pokemon company to speak out, as they warned fans to be careful of similar scams in the future. Here’s a portion of what they said, courtesy of Macgasm: “Fans who encounter questionable products should report to us immediately so we can keep other fans from falling victim to these scams.”

You may think that the possibility of a Pokemon game featuring on iOS or Android is slim to none anyway since Nintendo have their own platforms and products to look after, but you can’t deny that there would be a huge deal of money to be made if they decided to do it. We’d happily pay a decent amount if they delivered a perfect port to iOS or Android, but we imagine there’s all sorts of licensing shenanigans to get through first.

What are your thoughts on the Pokemon iOS scam – did you see it on the app store? Would you pay good money for a good port as well?

Pokemon Release for 3DS, Wii or Wii 2, Set For June Unveil? http://www.product-reviews.net/2011/05/16/pokemon-release-for-3ds-wii-or-wii-2-set-for-june-unveil/ http://www.product-reviews.net/2011/05/16/pokemon-release-for-3ds-wii-or-wii-2-set-for-june-unveil/#comments Mon, 16 May 2011 14:16:36 +0000 Jamie Pert http://www.product-reviews.net/?p=130964 According to a recent post on the Nintendo 3DS blog we may see a new Pokemon game for the Nintendo 3DS, Wii or Wii 2 unveiled next month, this news was originally published in a Japanese magazine called CoroCoro.

We do not have much in terms of details, however we are led to believe that the game will be unveiled on June 15th, we’re not sure how accurate this information is, therefore treat it as a rumor for now.

Pokemon Black Version and Pokemon White Version arrived in Japan in late 2010 and in March 2011 in other regions, despite the imminent launch of the 3DS the games set new sales records for the Nintendo DS, therefore the next Pokemon title will undoubtedly do well.

Nintendo 3DS Blog say that the game will be unveiled on June 15th, we find it weird that the game is not being announced at E3 2011 during the Nintendo press conference, however as this is currently still a rumor don’t be too surprised if the game gets a mention during the expo at some point.

We don’t think that the next Pokemon game will come to the original Wii, therefore we presume that it will either be coming to the Nintendo 3DS or Nintendo Wii 2 (aka Project Cafe), which release would you prefer to see?

Pokémon Black and White US Sales, 2 Million in 2 Weeks http://www.product-reviews.net/2011/03/28/pokemon-black-and-white-us-sales-2-million-in-2-weeks/ http://www.product-reviews.net/2011/03/28/pokemon-black-and-white-us-sales-2-million-in-2-weeks/#comments Mon, 28 Mar 2011 15:48:51 +0000 Jamie Pert http://www.product-reviews.net/?p=126745 The new Pokémon titles for the Nintendo DSi have been a huge sucess as we reported earlier in this post about it’s day one sales. The success continues as a report from the Official Nintendo Magazine brings us coverage on the sales from the first two weeks of sales in both Europe and North America.

From day one the game was rumored to be big, despite the fact that the Nintendo DSi regarded “old tech” thanks to the Nintendo 3DS release, Pokémon Black version and Pokémon White version have soared through the U.S, producing 2 million sales in the first 2 weeks, in the UK one million copies have already been sold and the number is still increasing.

The success of sales put the games at the top of most sales charts across all platforms in the first week. Nintendo replied to the reaction with this tweet, “Thanks, Pokémon fans! You helped the Pokémon Black and Pokémon White Version games hit the 2 million sales mark in just 2 weeks!”

Both games still remain in the U.K and U.S top ten and reviewers have described these editions of Pokémon games to be the best yet. There is little doubt that sales will continue to rise steadily from here, we wonder if a Nintendo 3DS Pokémon release will be announced at E3 2011.

What did you think of the new Pokémon games?

The good news, is that we now have a complete list of the legendary Pokemon that are featured in Black and White. Some of the Pokemon are specifc to each game, so in some cases, you’ll need to trade with someone who as the other copy of the game, or trade with yourself if you have both copies!

Legendary Pokemon within Black and White are split into different categories, these are Roaming Legends (Tornadus and Thundurus), Stationary Legends (Reshiram and Zekrom, Cobalion, Terrakion, Virizion, Kyurem and Harder to Catch Pokemon.

The difficult ones include Landorus as you’ll need to have both Tornadus and Thundurus in your team, then there’s Victini, who can only be obtained via a WiFi event, which you can find full details on here.

There are a further three other legendary Pokemon called Keldeo, Melotta & Genesect, but their locations and abilities are a secret at the moment and can only be obtained via WiFi events as well.

For complete details and locations on where to find the Pokemon listed above, head to the excellent guide over at DieHardGameFan. You can also see some pictures of the legendary Pokemon here if you need to.

Pokemon Black / White Fan Gets 3D Tattoo – Madness? http://www.product-reviews.net/2011/03/05/pokemon-black-white-fan-gets-3d-tattoo-madness/ http://www.product-reviews.net/2011/03/05/pokemon-black-white-fan-gets-3d-tattoo-madness/#comments Fri, 04 Mar 2011 23:16:40 +0000 Jamie Pert http://www.product-reviews.net/?p=124340 As you may know, Pokemon Black and Pokemon White are both one day away from release. Reviews are in, Metacritic has an average score, and Pokemon fans are getting tattoos of Poke Balls with subdermal implants in their arms.

Yes, you heard us right, as shown in the photographs below, a superfan called Alex Finch, who says he was a fan of Pokemon since the third or fourth grade has got himself six tattoo’s of Pokeballs up his right arm, and also had subdermal implants put behind the Poke Balls to create a 3D Poke Ball effect.

The reason behind the 6 tattoos is that it symbolises the amount of Poke Balls you could carry in the original Pokemon game.

Finch says that this is “just the beginning,” as he plans to add additional tattoos with cartoons, videogames and anime icons on the rest of his Poke Ball covered arm, to which he also said that he wanted to add more Poke Balls.

The name Poke Ball first originated from the name “Monster Ball,” which is what it was called in the original Japanese version. Since then, many extra types of Poke Balls have come on to the Pokemon scene that all hold different strengths. The Super Ball, Ultra or Hyper Ball and Master Ball all have a better capture success rate on Pokemon you can catch than the standard Poke Ball. More additions were later added that included the Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver.

If that is not total dedication to your favourite computer game and cartoon series then I don’t know what is. What do you think of the tattoos? Would you ever get something like that done that depict your favourite computer game or alike?
