This drive uses USB for data and power, therefore you do not have to plug it into the mains. Usually when drives are powered by USB there are some limitations, however this drive still reads Blu-ray media at 4x.

The Plextor PX-B120U uses a top-load mechanism and comes with Cyberlink Power DVD, this will allow Blu-ray and DVD playback, also it is capable of upscaling standard definition video.

This drive is a lot more affordable than many experts would have predicted, the recommended retail price is $100, which is a small price to pay for Blu-ray playback on your laptop.
