Sony will be glad to see the back of this year as it has seen more than its fair share of troubles with all the hacking that took place before the summer. At the time of writing we can tell you that PSN is down again in September 2011.

The official EU PlayStation Blog tweeted a few moments ago that the system was experiencing problems, and posted “We’re aware that PSN is currently unavailable and working with the technicians to find out when it will be restored. Apologies”.

There are a few comments on its Twitter page that the system is not available, but we are not sure if is only affecting Europe or is worldwide. This is the second time the service has been unavailable this month, as it was down for routine maintenance a couple of weeks ago.

This doesn’t seem to be the case this time though and we currently don’t know how long the service will be off for. Hopefully it is not the return of any hackers after the length of time the service was unavailable for, and will only be a short downtime.

Can you access the PSN service in your area? If not let us know where you are.

Back at the end of May we announced that Headstrong Games’ popular first-person rail shooter ‘The House of the Dead: Overkill’ – which was originally launched as a Nintendo Wii exclusive back in February 2009 – was heading to the PlayStation 3 later this year.

We also told our readers that the upcoming PlayStation 3 version, which is titled ‘The House of the Dead: Overkill – The Extended Cut,” would come with 3D support, PlayStation Move compatibility and high definition graphics, as well as some extra bonus content.

Now we have more good news for those of you that are waiting for the arcade-style shooting game to arrive on the PS3, as David Bruno (public relations manager at Sega of America) has recently revealed more game details and the box art over on the blog.us.playstation.com website.

This is in fact the very first time that the publisher has released a House of the Dead game on an HD console, and David says that both Sega and the developer are working hard to make it the best in the series. The publisher has also unveiled a number of screenshots from the game.

As we mentioned in our previous article, The House of the Dead: Overkill – Extended Cut will come with 2 additional levels that weren’t included in the original Nintendo Wii release. The game will also feature new and improved cut-scenes using motion capture, as well as improved boss fights.

It doesn’t stop there either, as The House of the Dead: Overkill – Extended Cut will also provide players with a new baby mutant type, an exclusive crossbow weapon, online leaderboards so they can track their high scores and player statistics and new PS3 trophies to achieve.

There will also be two brand new modes including a Classic Mode and a Hardcore Mode. In the Classic Mode, gamers can play through the entire game only using the AMS Magnum. Meanwhile, the Hardcore Mode is a mode in which the mutants can only be killed by a headshot.

The other PS3 features include an extended boss fight with ‘Mother’ in the game’s final level ‘OVERKILL,’ and collectibles to grab throughout the game that will unlock bonus material, music tracks, comic pages, 2D artwork and 3D models. The game will be available on October 25th in North America and October 28th in Europe.

Do you own a PlayStation 3? If so, are you tempted to buy The House of the Dead: Overkill – Extended Cut?

We have a treat for PS3 owners looking to pick up the highly anticipated ICO and Shadow of the Collossus remakes, as Sony has just released two brand new gameplay trailers for both games, as part of their relevant websites which have now been updated.

For those of you that are not aware, Shadow of the Collossus and ICO are upcoming re-releases on the PlayStation 3 after being two of the finest PS2 games that graced the console. The new games will feature HD graphics, trophy support and perhaps more exciting for PS3 owners, 3D support for both titles.

In celebration of websites for both games opening, Sony has released two brand new video promos which feature brand new gameplay for you to enjoy. We’ve said it in the past, but these games are truly something special and they should be part of your PS3 collection when they release on September 27, or September 28th for those of you in Europe.

While you may be filled with excitement for the upcoming releases of ICO and Shadow of the Collossus, let’s not forget about The Last Guardian which will be a similar experience to ICO and Shadow of the Collossus, but built from the ground up on the PS3 instead of being a remade PS2 game. We haven’t heard too much about The Last Guardian lately, but it is likely that Fumito Ueda and Team ICO will unveil the latest build of the game at the 2011 Tokyo Game Show which kicks off in September.

Personally, I have to say that Shadow of the Collossus looks the most exciting game out of the two, both from a storyline point of view and also on the graphical side of things. Considering that SOTC serves as a ‘spiritual successor’ to ICO, it’s very worth your time to put some time aside to play both.

If you didn’t play either title on PS2 then perhaps it’s a little difficult to believe what the hype is all about. Believe us though, when both titles release this September, it may very well be the games which keep you off Modern Warfare 3 and Battlefield 3 this year, although Bethesda may have something to say about that with Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.

We’ve included both gameplay vidoes below, check them out and let us know your thoughts on them. We’re interested to see what your thoughts on the remakes are, both from those who have played the PS2 games before and those who are totally new to the Team ICO experience. If you’re interested, you can view the ICO website here and the Shadow of the Collossus website here.

We provided our readers with a number of new details for the upcoming Techland-developed Call of Juarez: The Cartel game last week, including the fact that players will not only have to co-operate with their team mates, but also compete against them.

As we mentioned in our previous article, this is something that the developer is calling ‘co-opetition.’ We now have some more interesting news as according to Sehran over at gamepur.com; a brand new trailer has just been released online that shows off the ‘co-opetition’ side to the game.

Although the team’s main objective is to work together in order to take down the Cartel leader Juan Mendoza, each of the three characters – Eddie Guerra, Kim Evans and Ben McCall – also have their own agendas such as loyalty, revenge and even debt.

As players progress through the game they will need to feed their character’s demons, which sometimes includes not going along with the team’s plans. The video shows us how the characters can receive their very own secret missions to complete such as stealing someone’s wallet.

The idea being that you can’t get caught by your team mates. Doing so will see you fail your secret mission. The Call of Juarez: The Cartel game will be available for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC. Will you be buying it?

PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 owners already have to wait quite a long time for the arrival of Valhalla Game Studios’ upcoming third-person shooter game Devil’s Third, and now it looks as though they will have to wait even longer than they originally expected.

In fact, Anoop Gantayat from andriasang.com reports that Tomonobu Itagaki has confirmed that his new game will not be hitting stores until the early part of 2013. When asked about the game’s completion percentage, Itagaki gave two completely different numbers.

Itagaki said that although it is 100% complete in terms of the mechanical sections of the game, it does need volume and replay value etc, so on that side of things it is only around 20-30 percent complete. However, Itagaki did reveal that the game’s multiplayer component is already in a playable state.

Judging by Itagaki’s answer to a question about how many people will be able to get in on the action, it looks like the multiplayer side of Devil’s Third may have support for up to 32 players. The designer also revealed that the campaign mode will only be single player and will not feature co-op.

It looks like there could be one good thing coming out of waiting so long for the game to be released, as Itagaki also hinted that the Devil’s Third game may even come to the newly announced Nintendo Wii U console. We can expect more details at the Tokyo Game Show later this year.

What do you think about the possibility of the Devil’s Third game coming to the Wii U?

The long-awaited (14 years to be precise) Duke Nukem Forever game finally made its way into stores across the world last week and although it was possibly one of the most-anticipated games of this year, the title was unfortunately met with a rather disappointing reception.

However, as Ben Parfitt from mcvuk.com reports, despite its poor reviews, the Duke Nukem Forever game has managed to top the UK All-Formats Games Chart. This of course means that the hugely popular L.A. Noire game has been knocked off the top spot after holding the position for 3 weeks.

Meanwhile, Sucker Punch Productions’ PlayStation 3 exclusive InFamous 2 debuted at number 4 in the charts, and THQ’s Red Faction: Armageddon claimed 8th position in its very first week of release. 505 Games’ Zumba Fitness showed just how popular it still is by climbing from fourth place to third.

LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean took fifth position in the charts, while Codemasters’ Dirt 3 took 6th place and Splash Damages’ Brink took seventh position. Call of Duty: Black Ops is still hanging on in there in the top 10 at ninth position, while the first-person puzzle platformer Portal 2 finished off the top 10.

Are you surprised to see Duke Nukem Forever at the top of the UK Games Chart?

Just last week we revealed that a Collector’s Edition of the much-anticipated Mass Effect 3 game had appeared on the Amazon.com website. We also provided our readers with price and release date for the Collector’s Edition, as well as a list of the items that would be included.

However, there had been no confirmation from the developer at that point, so we didn’t know how accurate the Amazon.com listing was. We now have good news for Mass Effect fans, as according to Mike Jackson over at CVG, Bioware has recently confirmed the Mass Effect 3 N7 Collector’s Edition.

The N7 Collector’s Edition – which as previously mentioned is priced up at $79.99 and is due to be released on March 6th, 2012 – will come with a premium metal case that is decorated with commemorative artwork of both male and female version of Commander Sheperd.

It also includes a limited edition Mass Effect comic by Dark Horse Comics, a 70-page art book that features unique illustrations from the BioWare development team, a Mass Effect 3 digital soundtrack, Xbox Live Normandy prop for the player’s avatar and a collection of forum and social badges, perks and avatars.

Those who purchase the N7 Collector’s Edition will also receive a collection of in-game content including N7 hoodie, a Robotic Dog, the Squadmate Alternate Outfit Pack – which provides new appearances for Ashley, James, Kaiden and Liara – and the N7 Arsenal Pack (N7 sniper rifle, SMG, pistol and shotgun).

Will you buy the Mass Effect 3 N7 Collector’s Edition?

If you are one of the many gamers that were looking forward to playing id Software’s much-anticipated RAGE game this coming September, then I’m afraid you’ll be waiting a little bit longer than expected as the release date appears to have been delayed, and the game is now expected to arrive in October.

According to a recent article by Oliver over on the el33tonline.com website, the first-person shooter game was originally scheduled to launch on the Xbox 360, PC and PlayStation 3 on September 13th for North American gamers and September 16th for those in the UK and Europe.

However, the game’s official website appears to have the release date down as October 4th in North America and October 7th in Europe and the UK. We do have a bit of good news for you however as according to Trung Bui at gamerant.com, a new 7-minute gameplay trailer was revealed at E3 2011 this week.

The video gives us a glimpse of the environment in which you’ll be playing the game, as well as a number of gameplay elements such as NPC interaction, gunplay and some of the physics. We have embedded the trailer below this post so you can see for yourself how cool it is.

You can keep up to date with all the latest news for the RAGE game over on the official rage.com website. Are you looking forward to the arrival of the RAGE game?

Back in February we provided our readers with some screenshots, a teaser trailer and a release date for Saber Interactive’s much-anticipated Inversion game. Both the developer and the publisher – Namco Bandai Games – appear to have kept tight-lipped about the upcoming title since.

That is all about to change however as according to a recent gamerant.com article by J.C. Reeves, a brand new game trailer and new details were unveiled at the E3 2011 event this week. The third-person shooter is developed around the concept of manipulating gravity and dealing with its lasting effects.

Players are put in the shoes of a young father named Davis Russel, whose wife was killed and whose daughter has disappeared. In order to rescue his daughter and figure out a way to defeat the Lutadore, Russel teams up with Leo Delgado. The two are then forced to defy and command gravity.

The game’s campaign storyline can be played through either in solo, competitive or co-op modes, and the multiplayer matches will be able to accommodate up to 16 players at once. Inversion offers a wide variety of game types including traditional deathmatch modes and gravity-based modes.

You can view the new game trailer via the gamerant.com website. Are you looking forward to playing the Inversion game?

A few days ago we announced that Electronic Arts had revealed the released date for the highly-anticipated Battlefield 3 game during its E3 2011 press conference. However, that wasn’t the only Battlefield 3 info to come out of the event, as a multiplayer gameplay trailer also made its debut.

As noted over on the gamebandits.com website, the brief trailer gives a glimpse of what fans can expect from the upcoming Battlefield 3 title including explosion effects, realistic movement, amazing lighting and what is probably one of the most impressive features – full environmental destructibility.

The ‘Operation Metro’ trailer shows the player’s team in ‘Rush’ mode, as they engage opponents in the streets of Paris and all the way down to the Metro subway. That wasn’t the only video to be released during the E3 event either, as the ‘Thunder Run Tank’ gameplay trailer was also unveiled.

Thunder Run, which is a single player campaign, is just as impressive as Operation Metro thanks to its amazing graphics and rendering. Judging by the footage shown in the two videos, it looks like the Battlefield 3 game could well give the likes of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 a run for its money.

You can view the new trailers below this post. What do you think about the ‘Operation Metro’ and ‘Thunder Run Tank’ trailers?
