Earlier on we gave you a look at some new Metal Gear Rising gameplay footage since it was recently announced that the game is to be remade by Platinum Games, who are taking over the core development duties from Kojima Productions.

Now though, we have some good news for PlayStation 3 owners, as Platinum Games has just confirmed that the PS3 version of the game will be the lead platform. If you watched the recent interview that Konami posted revealing the real story behind the switchover, you would have seen Platinum Games using an Xbox 360 controller when designing the game, raising one or two eyebrows.

Atsushi Inaba, who is the producer for Metal Gear Rising at Platinum Games has taken to Twitter to clear a few things up for curious gamers, by revealing that the PS3 will be the lead platform. Here’s the Tweet below to show you what he said, courtesy of AndriaSang who has translated it from Japanese.

“So, in closing, Metal Gear Rising’s lead platform is also PlayStation 3,”

Prior to the quote above, Inaba had been talking about how the team (Platinum Games) made mistakes with the PS3 version of Bayonetta, which was developed by Sega. Only the Xbox 360 version was handled by Platinum Games, and it resulted in major loading issues on the PS3 version for many gamers. Platinum Games are now looking to learn from their mistakes though, as it will be the PS3 version which is developed first, and then a port will be made for the Xbox 360.

This isn’t the end of the world for Xbox 360 owners by any means, it just means that the chances of both versions being identical are far greater now that the PS3 version is taking lead. As an Xbox 360 or PS3 owner, what are your thoughts on this announcement? Are you confident that both games will be identical, or do you feel that PS3 may have a slight edge?

One of the big talking points at the recent Video Game Awards aside from Skyrim picking up the award for G.O.T.Y for 2011, was the fact that highly anticipated title Metal Gear Solid: Rising has now been completely remade.

Platinum Games are now developing the game alongside Kojima Productions and Hideo Kojima’s watchful eye, but new footage of the game which aired at the awards is now the subject of big debate, with many gamers feeling that this new Metal Gear game isn’t heading in the direction that fans of the legendary franchise had hoped.

To give you an idea of the changes, we’ve picked out a great video which you probably haven’t seen yet, which compares the old and initial Metal Gear Rising gameplay, with new Rising gameplay which is taken from Platinum Games’ new build of the game. There are significant changes from the two versions as you’ll see below, the most obvious of which is the fact that the new re-imagining of the game now takes fundamental elements from the ‘hack and slash’ genre, as opposed to the original footage which fans believed would still maintain that core ‘stealth’ element which has become a key feature of the franchise.

Platinum Games are a team which have also developed titles such as Bayonetta and Vanquish, which gives a clear explanation to the frantic Ninja Gaiden style gameplay that now features prominently in the game. Fans are obviously divided on their opinions on the game at the moment, but with Kojima Productions still collaborating with Platinum Games for the 2012 game, Mr Kojima obviously feels that fans are still in good hands by passing the majority of tasks over to Platinum Games.

On a side note, we’ve also got a fascinating interview from Konami to show you, which gives you an exact idea into the thought process behind the decision to switch to Platinum Games as an added development team. There’s also some new gameplay footage from Metal Gear Rising to check out towards the end, so make sure you watch that as well.

After seeing the old and new builds of the game, what is your overall feeling towards Metal Gear Rising? Are you slightly more optimistic about the project now after watching the interview video, or do you believe that the old version should have been finished solely by Kojima Productions and left untouched?

We first heard about the upcoming Anarchy Reigns game – known as Max Anarchy in Japan – back in January this year, when reports revealed that Platinum Games was currently working on the online beat ‘em up title. Although details were fairly scarce at that point, we did know that it would be heading to the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

Shortly after the initial announcement, both Platinum Games and Sega released a couple of character reveal trailers. The first gave us a glimpse at Sasha, the Ice Queen, and the second provided us with a sneak preview of Zero. We now have some more good news for those that are thinking of buying the game, as some new Anarchy Reigns details have just been unveiled.

According to Giuseppe Nelva over on the dualshockers.com website, Sega has recently released some brand new information for the upcoming game including a bunch of new screenshots, and more details on characters and multiplayer modes. Although we haven’t got a specific release dare as of yet, we do know that the Anarchy Reigns title is due to arrive next January.

The game’s single player story mode will in fact be split into two different stories, a White Side and a Black Side. In one side players will be taking control of a character called Leo, while the other side has gamers controlling Jack. The two separate stories do end up interacting with each other, which will eventually create a single bigger picture.

Sega also provided details on four of the characters from the Anarchy Reigns game including Leo, Nikolai, Baron and Matilda. Leo is a member of the Strike One team, and an officer of the Bureau for Public Safety (BPS). This character is an expert in a martial art called Cybrid Art, and uses a sword named Positron Blade as his fighting weapon.

Nikolai on the other hand is an ex sergeant of the Special Forces, and the current commander of the Strike One team. Nikolai has cybernetic arms called Blitz Tesla, which can focus the power of a reactor against his enemies to deliver lightning attacks. Meanwhile, Baron – real name Blacker Baron – is a bounty hunter, and an old rival of Jack.

Baron is equipped with the Super Sexy Fist of Fire. Thanks to this character’s cybernetic arms, he can control the power of the flames in order to burn his enemies while he’s punching them. Last but not least is Matilda, who is the cybernetically modified partner of Baron. Matilda fights using a gigantic spiked mace called the Iron Maiden.

As for the two multiplayer modes that have been detailed, these are Survival and Battle Royale. In the Survival mode, teams of up to 3 players will be forced to fight for survival against several waves of AI controlled enemies. The Battle Royale mode will have up to 8 players fighting with no limits against everyone else, with the amount of respawns and deaths determining the winner.

Will you be buying the Anarchy Reigns game?

We have some great news now for those of you who enjoy playing online multiplayer combat games, as it’s just been revealed that Platinum Games – the developer of titles such as Bayonetta and Vanquish – is currently working on a new game called Max Anarchy.

According to a recent article by Brenna Hillier over at vg247.com (sourced from Andriasang), the game – which will be published by Sega – will be available for both the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, and will reportedly have support for a large amount of players.

Leaked scans, which come from Japanese video gaming magazine Famitsu, show players using torches and chainsaws whilst in battle. Although the details are rather scarce at this stage, we have heard that MadWorld protagonist Jack will be making an appearance.

Max Anarchy is said to feature both a story element and online mode, as well as having both co-op and competitive game types. According to Tom Ivan over at computerandvideogames.com, a Sega spokesperson said that more details will be revealed later this week.
