Along with Citroen’s new DS4 that we reported on recently, the C4 shows that the French manufacturer has lost none of its flair for designing beautiful cars.

This latest generation has grown slightly compared to the model that it replaces. It also has the sort of looks that not only make it stand out from the crowd, but keep it looking unmistakeably Citroen.

Power comes from a 1.6-litre THP producing 95 or 155 horsepower, or a turbocharged THP pushing out 155 horsepower. For the diesel option a 90 horsepower 1.6-litre HDI will be available along with Citroen’s 1.6-litre e-HDI producing 110 horsepower. The e-HDI also gets a six-speed transmission and Citroen’s new Start&Stop technology.

Exterior styling gains chrome tints and alloy wheels in 16 or 18 inch sizes. Moving in side the C4 comes equipped with wi-fi, a seven-inch screen and the addition of eTouch, a 24-hour emergency assistance button. To see a bundle of new pictures check out eurocarblog.

Although the exterior stays roughly the same barring a few minor tweaks to the bumpers. Saab has also decided to give a nod to its past styling with the re-introduction of three-spoke alloy wheels in 16 and 18-inch versions. Main changes however come from under the bonnet. As with all manufacturers the main aim is to reduce emissions and lower fuel consumption and Saab is no different.

While the petrol variants get a seven percent reduction the 1.9 TTiD diesel lowers its emissions from 149 g/km to 119, it also drops its fuel consumption figures from 5.6 1/100 km down to 4.5. Even with these savings the performance hasn’t suffered with the horsepower available from 130bhp to 160bhp with a top of the range pushing out 180bhp. There will also be a new automatic transmission available.
