Every year at CES we know that Panasonic will do their best to dominate two markets, the first is the TV, which we will discuss in a later post, and secondly the camera, and by launching 9 new Lumix cameras they are already set for a good year. What we love about the new 2013 Panasonic Lumix Camera lineup, is the multiple options that it gives users, as there is a camera for most photographers.

It looks as though Panasonic will be doing more marketing for the Lumix ZS30, as they believe this to be the most universal camera, as it is ideal for a number of different situations. The 20x optical zoom, 18.1-megapixel and also Wi-Fi and NFC connectivity to allow you to share your photos socially, something that the Samsung GALAXY Camera seems to excel in.

However, because the model above is a hybrid you can expect the Panasonic Lumix ZS30 price to be a little on the expensive side, so maybe you might want to consider the new compact models instead?

The best of that bunch has to be the Lumix TS5, as it also comes with Wi-Fi and NFC, along with being waterproof as well. Okay the features are not going to blow your mind away, but the quality of the images along with being waterproof as well does make the TS5 a great all-rounder.

While we have no pricing and when the other 7 models, the Lumix FT25, XS1 and others will become available, one would presume it to be in the early part of 2013. More details on these new cameras, which have been on show at CES can be found in a recent press release from Panasonic. You can also see what else is to come from Panasonic in 2013 with a video of their CES press conference video below.

The smartphone market is a highly competitive but a crowded one with some manufacturers currently have a tough time trying to compete with some of the bigger players. Electronics giant Panasonic are better known for their quality TVs and digital cameras, but have dabbled in the smartphone market before and have some hardware available over in Japan. Now there are rumors that Europe and eventually the US are to see some Panasonic Lumix Android handsets.

Back in 2005 the company did make a brief showing in the smartphone market in the region, but found it hard to compete with the more established players in the market. Now according to Mobile Please Panasonic are looking to regroup and have another go at selling handsets in Europe as well as China.

There is also talk the company will enter the American market as well with devices running the Android operating system. The company already has some handsets available in Japan that uses its Lumix camera technology with around 13 megapixel sensors. It is being reported that Panasonic are looking to sell around 7.5 million units in other regions by 2015.

But the thing is will they be able to tempt consumers away from more established companies such as Apple, HTC and Samsung? If they can get the smartphone side of things right including the price having a higher end camera will be a nice bonus for many consumers, as many now use their smartphones more for taking photos.

What do you think would you consider a Panasonic Lumix smartphone?

It looks like Panasonic has decided to give one of its popular point-and-shoot cameras a little bit of a makeover, with the recent unveiling of the LUMIX DMC-FP7D Disney-themed camera. This is basically your standard Panasonic LUMIX camera, but with a new element of fun and magic.

As George Wong over on the ubergizmo.com website recently noted, the revamped LUMIC DMC-FP7D camera comes with the usual specs such as a 3.5-inch touch-screen display, 16.1 megapixel CCD sensor, 4x optical zoom, an image stabilization feature and 84MB of internal memory.

What makes this point-and-shoot camera – which also features an SD card slot just in case you want to expand its memory – different however, is the fact that it includes Mickey Mouse graphics on the sliding lens door. The camera’s user interface has also been enhanced with Disney characters.

The DMC-FP7D also provided users with the ability to add Disney character-themed icons, fancy borders and phrases to their photos to spice them up a little. The LUMIC DMC-FP7D will be available as from June 10th in Japan, with a price tag of around ¥30,000 (366).

There has been no word on whether this model will be available outside of Japan. Would you like the Disney-themed DMC-FP7D camera?

If you were hoping to get a glimpse of Panasonic’s latest digital camera before it came out then you are in luck as the first image has been leaked. The image appears as rumors mount of a possible announcement of the Lumix DMC-G3 being made tomorrow.

The image appeared on the 43 Rumors website and was given a rating of FT5, which on their site refers to how true the rumor could be. FT5 is the highest rating with an 81-99% chance it could be true.

The G3 is the update to the earlier Micro Four Thirds G2 model. It has been given a 25% size reduction despite having similarities in shape to its predecessor. It features a 3” LCD touch display which includes the controls which are normally on the left dial and a 15.8 megapixel sensor.

If indeed the rumors are true then more details of the device will be released tomorrow, until then why not check out the link above for what information is known on the Lumix DMC-G3 so far.

What do you think of the new Panasonic camera? Will you be looking for an announcement tomorrow? Let us know in the comments below.

We would have thought that Panasonic would have made all their announcements during CES; se we were surprised to learn that they have unveiled four new point-and-shoot Lumix cameras. So in the space of a a few weeks the electronics makers has launched 12 new models

The four models are as follows: Panasonic Lumix ZS10, ZS8, FX78 and finally the TS3. Engadget has been taking a closer look at each model, as well as offering a press release for them. It is the first two models that are the most powerful of the four, which means that they will be more expensive as well.

For us it is the DMC-ZS10 that stands out the most, as it not only offers14.1 megapixel but also a 16x optical zoom lens as well. However, it is the 3D Photo that could be the making of this model – something that other cameras have already started to implement. JVC knows just how important this new technology is, which is why their GS-TD1 is the first Full HD 3D camcorder.

CNET News seems to have picked what they believe is the best Panasonic camera to be seen during the Consumer Electronics Show, and that is the DMC-FT3. This is a tough little device that will handle most of what you or I would throw at it. Maybe once you get it you can give it a go and let us know just how tough this little cookie is?

We have seen a lot of new camera’s being released lately, and Panasonic with their new Lumix range are amongst the companies who are trying to get us to part with some cash this holiday season.

Vlad Savov of Engadget has done a comparison of the new Lumix GF2 and the model it replaced the GF1. The first thing which was noted was that the new model feels a lot closer to a typical compact camera compared to the older GF1, a reported 19 percent smaller. Another small difference is the grip on the right of the camera.

On the back of the Lumix GF2 Panasonic have gone about tidying up the device, by removing a lot of the buttons in favor of the new touchscreen interface. A luminous iA button which switches on the intelligent auto mode has also been added. Video capture can be recorded in AVCHD format in 720/60p or 1080/60i.

Check a video below of the two cameras, and head over to Engadget to view more photos’ of both the GF1 and GF2 side by side.

Earlier today we posted an article regarding the Panasonic Lumix DMC-GF2′s official specs, however we forgot to mention video capture resolution, and despite it having “Full HD” branding on the front of the camera it is a little bit misleading.

The camera is capable of capturing 1080/60i or 720/60p, obviously these video capture resolutions are still impressive, however not as clear as Full HD at 1080p.

The definition of Full HD according to Wikipedia is as follows “1080p is the shorthand name for a category of HDTV video modes. The number 1080 represents 1,080 lines of vertical resolution (1,080 horizontal scan lines), while the letter p stands for progressive scan (meaning the image is not interlaced)“, this quite clearly states that interlaced 1080 video is not Full HD.

I must admit I am not an expert on video capture or high-definition video formats, however to me it looks as if Panasonic’s Full HD claims are misleading and a form of false advertising, do you agree?

Source: Engadget

We have some good for those of you who have been keeping an eye on the Panasonic Lumix DMC-GF2 digital camera, as we can confirm that Panasonic has now ended the speculation by making the stylish shooter official.

As reported from Engadget, we now have a full list of specs of the device, and some details on when you’ll be able to find out how much it’s going to cost at retail.

The GF2 is now thought to be Panasonic’s smallest and lightest interchangeable lens system camera and considering it’s compact size, you’ll probably be impressed with the quality of specs that it possesses. It features a 12.1 megapixel Live MOS sensor, a 3D interchangeable lens, 3-inch display which is touch supported and HD video recording via AVCHD.

Other notable specs include JPEG Motion Recording, Touch Q User Interface, Dust Reduction system, and a choice of silver, red or black colors.

If you’re interested in picking this up, it will be available to buy sometime in January next year, while pricing has already been set for an unveiling during December. Head to Engadget for the press release.

The new Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ45 has some big shoes to fill if it has any hopes of besting the DMC-FZ35. Some people will know it as the FZ40 in certain regions, but come with all the same features. The biggest change over its predecessor is the increase to the 14-megapixel CCD sensor.

The PhotographyBlog has spent some time with the new camera, and to offer a review, and early signs show that it does compare to another Panasonic shooter, the FZ100. This is not great news, and the $399 is also another factor that could persuade you to consider a rival.

The PhotographyBlog believes that there are 11 main rivals, some from Panasonic, the others from Canon, Fujifilm, Kodak, Nikon, Olympis, Pentax, Samsung and Sony. All of which are in the same price range, or thereabouts. View complete list of rivals.

The review has given the DMC-FZ45 a 4.5 out of 5 for design, 4 for features, 4.5 for ease-of-use, 4 for image quality and 3 for value for money. Read the full review here.
