Dog Attacks - Is the Owner Responsible for Dogs Behaviour?

After there has been another dog attack which took place in South Shields in the North of England this time, I think that steps should be taken for pet owners to be more responsible. I have two dogs and I know that a dog can bite at any time and you should never say never.

My terrier who is a puppy at the moment can still give a nasty nip (not that she has yet!), but I have another dog who weights over 9 stone(pictured), and if he decided to attack I wouldn’t have a chance. Where are people going wrong, I know that I have to have discipline and respect for both my dogs and my kids know there are rules that go with the dogs too! I am lucky that my dogs are happy in their environment, but you always have to be aware. I love my dogs’, but if one of them ever showed aggression to me or anyone else then I would have it rehomed, or destroyed, you can’t take chances.

What can be done, should we be registering our dogs and should classes be taken to learn about their breed and temperament. If I was asked to register my dog I would.

On the whole the question has to be asked who is responsible the dog or the owner?
