If you’ve recently purchased or you’re thinking about buying a new Android 3.0 Honeycomb tablet, you might be wondering about what apps there are available to download. There are in fact quite a few applications that are either designed or have been optimized specifically for Honeycomb tablets.

The question is however which ones are worth downloading? We found a recent article by Tim Conneally over on betanews.com, which takes a look at some of the applications that are available for Android Honeycomb tablets and provides a list of the 10 best apps to download.

If you enjoy playing tactical role-playing games, then Spectral Souls may just be the ideal app for you. The Spectral Souls app may be a little on the expensive side at $14.76, but for that you get hundreds of hours of gameplay, 52 different soundtracks and a total of 82 different characters.

Another great application on the list is Electrum. Although the Electrum drum machine application has been around for over 2 years, it’s just received a UI revamp especially for Honeycomb tablets. Then there is the Google Body application for the more inquisitive Android Honeycomb users.

Users are presented with a scalable 3D rendering of a human body, which can then be viewed as different layers such as bones, muscle and circulatory etc. The list would not be complete without the Angry Birds Rio game, which is said to look and handle beautifully on Honeycomb tablets.

You can view what other apps made it on the list via the betanews.com website.

Great news now for those of you that use the Opera Mobile or Opera Mini mobile browsers on their smartphones, as the Norwegian company has just released updated versions of both browsers. The browsers’ interfaces have also been adapted for Tablet PCs.

As Mikael Ricknas over at pcworld.com recently noted, the updated versions – Opera Mini 6 and Opera Mobile 11 – feature improved zooming, which now makes use of the pinch-to-zoom feature on all devices that support it, and improved panning performance and scrolling.

Another new feature included in the updated versions is the share button, which enables users to post messages on social networking websites Facebook and Twitter. The navigation buttons appear at the top of the screen in the tablet version, rather than at the bottom like the smartphone versions.

The Opera Mobile 11 browser – which supports HTML5 – is available for smartphones running Symbian and Android operating systems. There are also experimental versions available for devices running Maemo and MeeGo, and one for tablets running Windows 7.

Meanwhile, the Opera Mini 6 browser is available for smartphones running Symbian S60, Android and BlackBerry operating systems and for devices that are able to run J2ME Java applets. Although the company didn’t release iOS versions, an Opera spokeswoman said that iPhone and iPad owners should stay tuned.

Do you use the Opera Mini or Opera Mobile browsers on your smartphone?

If you have ever used Opera Mini on any of your devices you will know just how much better it is than the native browsers that most smartphones offer, now we can confirm that a Opera Mobile is coming to Android.

Most smartphones are compatible with Opera Mini, however Android will be getting Opera Mobile, Opera Mobile is considered better than Mini and offers a richer web experience, this requires more CPU power, however most Android smartphones have plenty of that.

When it arrives we are assured that Opera Mobile for Android will be extremely fast and offer pinch-to-zoom functionality, I for one will definately be isntalling this on my partner’s HTC Desire as Opera Mini has been great on my BlackBerry.

At the moment no solid launch date has been given, therefore we will have to keep you posted, all we can say is that it should be available within a month.

Will you install Opera Mobile on your Android device?
