NTT DoCoMo has recently announced twelve new mobile devices for spring 2013 with ten new phones, two tablets and a mobile WiFi hotspot router. The majority of the new phones will feature 4.5 to 5-inch displays and quad-core processors, although we wonder if any of these new phones can standout above all others?

According to the official press release their will be five models with the ability to link with home electronics and play full-HD under the new initiative, and a report on this can be seen on Engadget with the full press release featured below their post.

The twelve new spring models will launch in sequence beginning on January 25, and some of the great features involve upgraded versions of the many popular functions that were introduced with the 2012 winter lineup.

Details of the multiple features are also documented on the Engadget website along with information about the “docomo Smart Home” announcement, which is a brand new initiative for sharing music, video and other useful content between smartphones and home electronics, giving owners the opportunity to benefit from high-definition digital content at home or in transit.

Are you looking forward to seeing what’s on offer in 2013?

With many users clinging on to the hope that Verizon and Google finally unleash the 4G LTE Galaxy Nexus in the US on December 8th, we have news which is sure to add further salt in the wound for those of you who are beyond frustrated.

Consumers in Europe were the first to benefit from the delights of the Galaxy Nexus and Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0, as the device first went on sale on November 17. Now though, we’re hearing that Japan is also joining in on the fun as it has been confirmed that NTT DoComo will carry the device starting from December 2nd, as reported from Slashgear.

This means of course that consumers are now not second in line to receive the device as initially thought, but third after Japanese consumers get to buy the GSM version of the Galaxy Nexus at the end of this week on Friday. Upon hearing the news, US consumers may be entitled to feel a little aggrieved over this, considering that there is still no official word from either Google or Verizon. Is December 8 really the date when US sales will begin, or does Google and Verizon’s continued silence appear to suggest that there are darker days ahead for US consumers?

Canadians also have something to be happy about, as Bell Mobility wasted no time in announcing straight away to their consumer base that they will be selling the Galaxy Nexus on December 8, with customers able to pre-order one right now on their official website. Sadly though, no such information exists on Verizon, as consumers have had to deal with scraps of speculative information for the past month.

If you are adamant on picking up the G.Nexus on Verizon, what are your thoughts on another region getting the device before the US and the continued lack of official word from Google or Verizon. Do you think there’s a major problem with the 4G LTE version of the phone that they don’t want it to become public knowledge?

When it comes to cool gadgets and new devices it seems Japan are always first in line to receive them. Today we have news that is no different, as the country has received an announcement of a new smartphone that is thinner than anything we’ve seen so far.

The NEC MEDIAS WP N-06C is just 7.9mm thick, making it the world’s thinnest smartphone and it is expected to be launched by NTT DoCoMo around the next two months. It is also waterproof so no need to be afraid to bring it to the pool with you this summer.

As far as specs go the N-06C packs some power despite its size. Some of its main features include a 1GHz Qualcomm MSM8255 processor, a 4” LCD display with 845 x 480, 512MB RAM, a microSDHC for extra storage and it will be running Android 2.3.

It also has a 5mp camera which adds a little more to the thickness where it is situated on the device, still measuring about 9.7mm. More specs can be found listed at the NTT DoCoMo website. Just click the link to find them out.

Are you impressed with the NEC MEDIAS N-06C? Does the thinness and waterproof feature interest you? Let us know in the comments below.

Though tablets tend to get the headlines at the moment, we still get the odd phone surfacing to take some of the attention. Today we have news of a smartphone that’s so smart it’s dual-booting. The Fujitsu LOOX F-07C runs both Symbian and Windows 7.

When this 4” slider device was first written about, it wasn’t sure if the details were correct, but today it was confirmed that its dual booting is official well at least according to NTT DoCoMo’s preliminary spec sheet.

The news comes from an article by Richard Lai over at Engadget which features a full spec sheet. Amongst the impressive specs of the LOOX F-07C, as well as its dual-booting software, there is 32GB eMMC disk space with the option of additional storage with microSDHC, 1GB LPDDR400 RAM and a 1.2GHz Intel Atom Processor.

The battery life seems to be the only downfall with this device, even though you are offered 600 hours standby time when in phone mode, but when in Windows 7 mode just 2 hours before being switched back to phone mode.

Check out the rest of the article from Engadget by clicking the link above. There you will find the pricing of the device as well as more details on specs. Does the dual-booting feature interest you? Let us know in the comments below.

For those of you who are fed up with seeing the same old news about the same old smartphones and tablets, you might find this news somewhat refreshing. Meet Elfoid, the human shaped cell phone.

One of the creepiest things ever made it has to be said, this miniature person was developed at Osaka University. With a little bit of help from NTT DoCoMo this device was created with a similar design to the Telenoid. If you’re not familiar with this robotic answering machine check out the link to news.com.au.

News.com.au who also report this news say the Elfoid does pretty much the same thing as the Telenoid too, in the sense that you have a human shaped figure to interact with. This is different as it’s a mobile device though and can fit in your pocket.

When it rings it tickles you, when you answer u talk into its belly and the device will move and make gestures as if you were actually talking to a person.

Check out the link above for more details about the Elfoid. What do you think of this cell phone? Would you get one? Let us know.
