Nokia E7 Price and Release Month: Wait Nearly Over

Those of you waiting to get your hands on the Nokia E7 smartphone were delivered a disappointing blow last year, when it was announced that the release date had been delayed. However, there now appears to be some good news, as the price and release month have now been revealed.

According to a recent engadget.com article by Vlad Savov, Nokia’s Finnish store has just put the E7 handset up for pre-order, with a price tag of €599. They’ve also revealed that the all-business device is expected to arrive sometime in February of this year.

The expected arrival time coincides with previous reports, which suggested that the E7 would be arriving early 2011. As noted over on the Finnish website here, the E7 smartphone features a 4-inch touchscreen, business and messaging apps, a full QWERTY keyboard and an 8MP camera with HD video recording.

Nokia E7: Disappointing Delay – Not Here Till 2011

I used to love Nokia phones, all the way up until I got the N95, since then they just seem to have gone downhill. When are Nokia going to buck their ideas up and start producing some decent handsets, oh wait they have? The Nokia N8 and the E7.

The E7 does look like a pretty tasty phone, we brought you the specs with a photo gallery and the planned release date in earlier articles but guess what, Nokia has found a new way to disappoint you, that’s right it will be delayed. This isnt the first delay that Nokia has had, especially in recent times. Their other big device the N8 was in the same boat!

According to the Engadget’s Thomas Ricker the Nokia E7 slide phone will now not be launching in 2010, instead it will be early on in 2011. Bad news if you have pre-ordered the phone, but to keep you interested we have added a demonstration video at the bottom of the article to remind you of what you are waiting for. Also you can view the phone on their official website by clicking here, once you are on the site, select your region and then search for E7 and you can see a range of photo’s and another video.

Nokia E7: Pre-order Price and Release Date

Almost two weeks ago we revealed a price for the upcoming Nokia E7 smartphone, now we have a new price for you along with a release date.

Expansys has listed the E7 for £584.99 with a release date of January 10th 2011, if you would like to pre-order yours you can here,

This price is a bit too high in my opinion, especially as Expansys are offering the HTC Desire HD for £499.99, the Nokia N8 for £419.99 and the HTC Desire Z for £459.99.

The Nokia E7 is undoubtedly one of the most exciting upcoming Nokia smartphones we have seen, you can see the E7′s specs and photos here and a hands-on video here.

Nokia E7: Hands-on Demo Video from Nokia World

Recently the guys over at Engadget managed to get some hands-on time with the Nokia E7, this device was recently unveiled at Nokia World 2010, you can find out more about this smartphone here.

We have embedded a hands-on video at the end of this post, it is pretty brief but shows that the phone will feature three different customizable home screens, a very snappy user interface, pinch-to-zoom functionality and a very smooth slide-out QWERTY keyboard.

I must admit I am pleasantly surprised by the Symbian^3 operating system, in the brief video it looks very responsive and customizable, which we could not really say about previous Symbian versions.

iPhone 4 vs Nokia E7: Display Specs and Comparison (Retina vs CBD)

Earlier today we spoke about the Nokia E7 and its Clear Black Display, these Clear Black Displays seem to be Nokia’s answer to Apple’s Retina displays, therefore we thought we would see how they compare.

The E7′s display has a 4-inch diagonal and features a resolution of 640 x 360, the iPhone 4 has a 3.5-inch diagonal and a resolution of 960 x 640, in terms of pixels per inch the iPhone 4′s retina display is far superior, however how do they compare in terms of clarity etc?

According to Engadget the E7′s CBD Is more vibrant and brighter than the iPhone 4, however color saturation was not great, you can see the devices side-by-side below.

Without having both devices in your hand it is impossible to tell the difference, however we are assured that the E7′s AMOLED display is on par with the Samsung Galaxy S, this is a huge compliment.

For me the most important thing is good clarity in outdoor conditions, at the moment we have not seen the E7 in sunlight, therefore we will have to hold our judgement, at least we can see that the CBD display is holding its own against the iPhone 4.

Nokia E7: Details Regarding Release Date and Price

If you were impressed by the Nokia E7 when we revealed the specs earlier today, you may have wondered just how much this smartphone will cost, luckily Nokia has let loose some release date and price information.

Sadly we have no solid release date for you, however Nokia has stated that it will begin shipping before the end of the year, also Europeans can expect to pay €495 contract-free.

€495 equates to roughly $650 USD or £420 (GBP), which will no doubt be greatly subsidized by carriers if you agree a two year contract.

That is all we can say for now, however when we find out further release date, price and carrier information we will keep you posted.

Do you think that €495 / $650 / £420 is a fair contract-free asking price for the Nokia E7?

Nokia E7: Officially Confirmed Specs and Photo Gallery

Earlier today Nokia officially unveiled the Nokia E7 at Nokia World 2010, this smartphone features a slide-out QWERTY keyboard and runs Symbian^3, I must say it looks a lot more desirable than any Symbian-based QWERTY slider I have ever seen from Nokia.

Spec wise the E7 is impressive, it features a 4-inch touchscreen display which utilizes Nokia’s new ClearBlack Display technology, it also features an 8 megapixel camera capable of 720p HD video capture and 16GB of internal storage, sadly there is no memory card slot.

It looks as if this device will be going up against business devices such as the BlackBerry Torch 9800, you can create PowerPoint slides and connect to Exchange mail servers (can sync multiple calendars, notes and contacts from Outlook). Other software includes Adobe PDF reader, F-Secure Anti-theft, IBM Lotus Notes Traveler and Quickoffice dynamic premium.

In terms of design when it is closed it looks a lot like the Nokia N8, however it is slightly thicker at 13.6mm, the extra keyboard and larger display means that battery life does suffer a little as it offers 540 minutes of talk time from one charge, whereas the N8 offers 720 mins.
