Just a few days ago Subaru issued yet another recall for their troubled Forester, and we’re sad to say there is now a Nissan and Honda recall, which will affect some models of the 2013 Altima and the 2012-2013 Fit Sport

These Nissan and Honda recalls includes more than 140,000 vehicles in all for the US and Canada. Let’s look at the 2013 Nissan Altima recall first; there are 123,308 affected because of an issue with a pressure regulator, so there is a possibility that some of these vehicles could have an over or under-inflated spare tire.

Once you are notified you will be able to take your affected vehicle to your Nissan dealer, where they will be able to check the tire pressure for you. We’re sure not many of you will even bother to contact Nissan, as they would be able to resolve this Nissan Altima recall themselves. More details can be found here.

Next we have the 2012-2013 Honda Fit Sport recall, which involves 43,782 vehicles in the US and another 2,000 in Canada due to excessive yaw rates when the vehicle is under braking. The reason for this is because there’s an issue with the software that controls the Vehicle Stability Assist.

Honda says that it only affects certain Honda Fit Sport models fitted with a particular tire, although they have yet to inform us what tire this is. Honda will contact you during the middle of May to arrange to have the vehicles stability control software updated to rectify this issue. If you have any concerns then you might want to contact your local Honda dealer, or visit their website.

You can also run a Honda recall check by entering your Honda VIN here.

Just yesterday we looked at an impending recall of the Range Rover Evoque, even though Land Rover has yet to release any details about it, such as when the recalls will begin or the number of models affected. That’s more than we can say for another round of recalls for 2013, which is to affect more than 3.4 million cars.

Honda, Nissan, Mazda and Toyota are set to recall several of their models sold between 2000-2004. The Toyota recall is to effect 1.73 models, the Honda recall 1.13 million vehicles, Nissan around 500,000 and Mazda with about 45,000. The alarming thing is, all are being recalled due to the same air bag issue.

The defective part supplied by vehicle parts maker Takata Corp could in some could cause the airbag to deploy because of a faulty airbag inflator. You have been advised to contact your local dealer, although there’s always another way to see if your vehicle is affected by this recall.

You can run a Toyota recall VIN check here, where you will just need to enter your vehicle identification number. You can also enter your Honda VIN here. However, if you have a Nissan or Mazda, then you still need to contact your dealer.

The models affected by this airbag recall depends what part of the world you live in. In the UK, Toyota is to recall the Corolla and Yaris, Honda the Civic, CRV and Jazz, and Nissan the Almera, Navara, Patrol, Terrano II and the X-Trail.

For those of you in the US, then the models include the Corolla, Lexus SC Tundra from Toyota. The Civic, CR-V and Odyssey from Honda and the Infiniti FX, Infiniti QX4, Maxima Pathfinder and Sentra from Nissan.

While this will come as a blow to all four, it will be particularly tough for Toyota, as they have not had a great few years when it comes to recalls.

If you are the owner of a Nissan NV van from 2012 -2013 then you will be notified soon of an impending recall, with the affected vehicles being manufactured from December 20, 2012 to January 4, 2013. Okay, so we know what you are thinking, who would have one of these in the first place, but these vans are pretty good, even if they do look a bit on the ugly side.

The recalls are to begin on April 8, and is because of an issue with the transmission lever, well the selector plate lock clip to be more precise, because in some cases they have been installed incorrectly. If you do have an affected vehicle then there is a possibility the vibration from the road surface could cause the lever to select a different gear.

For example, if the plate does become lose you could be stationary and believe the transmission is on the park position, when you may be in a different gear, which could have serious consequences.

Thankfully Nissan is already on top of the situation and will replace the selector plate at no cost to you. If you have any questions in regards to this latest recall then you are asked to contact Nissan on 1-800-647-7261, or the NHTSA on 1-888-327-4236.

While Nissan has more than two cars on show at today’s Chicago Auto Show, which opened its doors today for the press, there are only two that really matter to us, and they would be the 2014 GT-R Track Edition and Nissan 370Z. There are several changes to the former when compared to the road version, but there is a performance increase for both models.

The 2012 Nissan GT-R Track Edition has had a few modification in order to lose some weight, so gone are the rear seats and the front set have been replaced by a pair of lightweight bucket seats. However, there is a problem if you wish to drive this version on the road, because the Track Edition has been developed on the world famous Nürburgring. This means that while it will be great on the track, drive it on a road and you’ll have a bad back in no time because of the harsh ride.

While the engine stays pretty much the same, the other upgrades to the transmission, suspension, brakes and wheels all work together to make it a much better track car than its sibling.

The 2014 Nissan 370Z is never going to match the performance of the GT-R, but you still get a great headlining car for a fraction of the price. The new model sticks with the same 3.7-liter V6 engine, which produces 350 horsepower. However, the updated model relies on a number of enhancements to make it marginally quicker than its predecessor. Some of these improvements include brakes and suspension that has been sports tuned and sportier a 6-speed manual transmission.

There is currently no release details for either model, but you can get more info on the 2014 Nissan GT-R Track Edition and the 2014 Nissan 370Z thanks to Autoblog.

There’s nothing better than a good old drag race to settle the man from the boys in the auto world, but this latest challenge does seem a little mismatched at first. However, once you watch the video you’re in for a shocking surprise. There are three vehicles involved; the first is a Nissan GTR, the second a Ducati 1098 and the final vehicle is the sleek looking Lamborghini Reventon Roadster.

Before you even look I bet you will say that the Ducati is the clear winner because of how much lighter it is and then once the Lambo stretches its legs it will take off into the sunset. However, as an added twist the bruiser that is the GTR has been fitted with a launch upgrade, which as we know helped a lot a few years ago when F1 cars were allowed to use it, with Renault having the best system on the grid.

If you don’t wish to know the outcome then you had best watch the video below now. You’ll see all three vehicles line up on the grid and when they all takeoff the Nissan GTR gains the best start thanks to the 2013 launch system, the Ducati begins to gain a little but the Lamborghini seems very slow next to the other two, as they stretched out an astonishing lead.

Once the GTR reaches 135mph the Ducati then overtakes it but the GTR is not out of the race because once the Nissan hits 180mph the motorcycle has nothing left to give and the GTR takes the win. The Lamborghini Reventon Roadster is last.

However, if the two cars begin with a rolling start it’s a different story because the GTR is unable to take advantage of its impressive launch system and while they seem neck and neck for several seconds, the Lambo kicks in a gear and leaves the GTR for dust.

There are so many cars that were a huge hit at the recent Detroit Auto Show, but if you were to ask many proud American’s they would say that the Chevrolet C7 Corvette Stingray stole the show – not all of them but a huge percentage anyway. It was so nice to see an iconic car brought up to date, although the car is going to have some very tough competition, one of which will be the 2014 Nissan GTR.

The idea of these two vehicles going side-by-side in a shoot out does seem a little strange when you consider that they are aimed at two different markets, it’s good to get a perspective at just what we can look forward to seeing. However, there are one or two issues that could go against each model, which could give either the upper hand.

First up we have the 2014 Nissan GTR, the first issue we have is that we do not have performance figures just yet, but we do know that 3.8-liter V-6 twin-turbocharged engine, which will produce 545 horsepower. However, we have to remember that each of these engines are hand-built and will only go into one certain gearbox also made for each specific engine, so each car will have a difference in horsepower. Compare this to the C7 Corvette Stingray, which comes with an LT1 6.2-litre V8 producing about 450 horsepower. So on paper the GTR has more power to call upon, although the GTR does have a weight disadvantage with 3887 pounds compared to 3300 for the C7.

While the C7 does have the advantage of being lighter no one can argue that the GTR is an out and out racer, which is just pure technology. If we had to compare it to a jet fighter it would have to be a Eurofighter Typhoon, because it needs the computers in order to function, without them neither can do what they are meant to do.

While one would presume that the Nissan would be a better car on the track because of how well we know Japanese cars like to perform on the race track when compared to American models, but we cannot wait to see these two go side-by-side in a track shoot out.

The biggest issue that the 2014 Nissan GTR has going against it is its price, just a fraction off $100,000, whereas the C7 Corvette Stingray is to cost half that. If you had the choice, which of the two would you choose?

In a recent article we brought you, we revealed that a large majority of iPhone users in the UK have a cracked screen on their device but continue to use it regardless. The significant percentage proves just how fragile these smartphones are, but hoping to rectify this problem is Nissan who have launched the Scratch Shield, an iPhone case with healing capabilities.

The motor vehicle manufacturer’s Scratch Shield paint technology is thought to be the world’s first self-healing paint which allows fine scratches to mend themselves. It is also the same paint that they use on a number of their vehicles all over the world. The case itself is designed to be more tighter-fitting, robust and rigid than any other, is made from ABS plastic and will fit the iPhone 4 or 4S.

The way the self-healing technology works is when the coating is damaged, it is able to fill the gap created and change back to how it was through a chemical reaction in the structure. This process can take up to a week depending on the severity of the blemish, with lesser damages taking as little as an hour to heal.

Although the product is still in its beta stage, we can expect the case to release as soon as this year if Nissan feel they are satisfied with the results. Europe seems to be the main market aim for now, although NTT DoCoMo, the Japan based carrier is contemplating the Scratch Shield technology for use on mobile phones and have the license to do so. As Expert Reviews explains, its use on these devices offer other benefits such as a better grip and an attractive gloss like finish as well as being more scratch resilient anyway.

What do you think of this Scratch Shield paint technology? Would you consider getting this case to protect your iPhone?

Nissan India has finally started to take bookings for their new Sunny model, and looking at that competitive price, we cannot see an issue with their overall sales forecast. The company said that they aim to shift more than 40,000 vehicles in total form now until March 2012. The Rs.5.75 lakh to Rs.7.68 lakh price for the Sunny will certainly help boost these sales figures.

The Rs.5.75 lakh is for the entry-level model, whereas the Rs.7.68 lakh price is for the top end model. Currently Nissan India has declined to offer any sort of sales expectations for the Sunny, but they must be confidant, as this is an emerging market and the price is not that far out of reach for many of the drivers in India. Okay, so it’s not going to be as popular as the Tata Nano but not all drivers in that country are looking for cheap transport.

Nissan aims to sell nine models in India, five will be built in the country, while the other four will be imported by 2012. The automaker also aims to source 85 percent of the parts needed to build these vehicles in India, with 40 percent of them coming from suppliers in Chennai. The Sunny is the second vehicle to be manufactured in India, the Micra was the first.

Bookings for the Nissan Sunny will begin today, with customers due to take possession of these vehicles on October 3, 2011. To further help these sales, Nissan India will also export the Sunny to parts of the Middle East and Africa. However, as yet we do not know when this will begin. These latest moves will certainly help the third largest Japanese carmaker to move up the rankings a little, but not sure if they have what it takes to trouble Honda or Toyota?

Owners of Nissan’s SUV and pickup trucks are left a little confused as to why the automaker has only extended warranty for radiators because they have been leading to automatic transmission failures. They had assumed that a recall was more appropriate, seeing as though the coolant can leak and effect the transmission, which is said to have cost owners thousands of dollars in repair bills.

The reason for this is because the warranty only covers vehicles with 80,000 miles or less, which seems a little strange, as these vehicles are workhorses and will have a great number of miles on the clock. When owners purchased these SUV’s and pickups they had no idea that this radiator would affect more than that, NY Times says that owners feel as though Nissan should have warned them of this problem.

The most responsible thing that Nissan can do now is to issue a recall of their Frontiers, Pathfinders and Xterras from 2005-2010, as there are many cases where owners do not know about this extended warranty, and also the fact that some of these vehicles have far more than 80,000 miles. It is all very well Nissan saying that they will cover the repair bills that was a cause of the coolant leaks, but what is the point if they do not know about it, and that is comes with restrictions?

You may wonder how the coolant can get into the transmission; well the tank will crack and force the coolant into the transmission cooler lines. Now something like this should not be covered under warranty, there should be a recall, as there is certainly a fault somewhere – surly it will be cheaper in the long run to repair a radiator rather than a transmission?

Should Nissan issue a recall or do you still think that the extended warranty is enough?

Festive Nissan Sunny: India’s something special for 2011

The reason that we are calling this new Nissan Sunny festive is because the automaker is to launch the new premium sedan/saloon during India’s festive season. Nissan feels that they are giving potential buyers something special, but a decent discount is what will be wanted. The company has been enjoying happy times once again, which was all thanks to the small Micro, so we just hope that this success continues.

This is a mid-size car, so will appeal to a wider market and will come in either diesel or petrol variants. The new Sunny was designed back in Japan, but they received contributions from 170 countries. It will be sold worldwide, but it is only the Indian version that we are interested in for the moment. The Sunny will launch in October, and is the second model from Nissan to be manufactured in Tamil Nadu, India, as reported by WSJ.

The reason why such a vehicle will be popular is because there is said to be more than 350 million middle class Indian’s with disposable incomes. It is for this reason why India is a growing market, one that many carmakers want to benefit on. It is also for this reason why the likes of Apple were so desperate to get their iPhone to the country, as well as China.

The new Nissan Sunny will have to compete with the likes of the Hyundai Verna sedan, Maruti’ Swift Dzire and the SX4. These mid-size vehicles have been selling very well in recent months, with an increase in sales of 25 percent. These figures are expected to climb now that the Indian car market is now getting access too much better cars than in the past.

The Nissan Sunny is just the start for the Japanese company in India, as they plan to have nine models in total by 2012. The factory plant in Tamil Nadu is expected to produce around 400,000 vehicles by this time next year; half of these will be exported. This is not only a great boost for Nissan but for the Indian community, as this means that there will be more jobs.

As yet we have no idea on pricing or trim levels, there are no details about the Sunny on the Nissan India website, but as the launch is only a couple of months away, we should expect something very soon.
